2 Cruise Control problem of the 2014 Subaru Impreza

Failure Date: 12/09/2019

I bought my car brand new and about six months after owning it my check engine, hazardous roads and cruise control lights came on. This has continued to happen numerous times since. I have been told it's a sensor, mass airflow sensor. Ocv valves and "maintenance" light. The problem has never truly been resolved and no one has been able to tell me what the root of the problem is. There have been times when service workers have just cleared the computer and sent me on my way. ## #vpic# 1 - check digit (9th position) does not calculate properly; 3 - VIN corrected, error in one position (assuming check digit is correct); 14 - unable to provide information for all the characters in the VIN. #vpic#.

3 Cruise Control problem of the 2013 Subaru Impreza

Failure Date: 07/08/2019

On 07/08/2019 I took my Subaru Impreza to a local dealership to have recalls wue90 and wty84 competed. It now seems that whatever work was done to satisfy the recalls has been causing the car to malfunction. The recall service was completed on 07/09, and I picked it up that day. Beginning on 07/10, however, the check engine and vehicle dynamics control warning lights started coming on intermittently. So far, these warning lights have displayed for a portion, or for the entirety, of 22 of the past 32 days. Both lights (check engine and vdc) have displayed together every time, and are usually on or off when the vehicle is started. When the lights are on, the cruise control does not function and I have noticed a significant (-21. 6%) decrease from my average gas mileage. On four occasions that I am able to recall, the warning lights also came on under braking (I. E. They were off when I started the car and then turned on at some point during my trip when I pressed the brakes). Whether the warning lights are on or off, I have no way of knowing what isn't working (other than the cruise control as I mentioned). I have taken the vehicle back to Subaru twice to try to resolve the issue: first on 07/10 and then on 08/07. They scanned the codes, did some work on it, and gave the car back to me, claiming that it was fixed. The one thing they are failing to consider is that the problem may actually be related to the service performed to complete the recalls because I've never had an issue with the vdc since I bought the car almost six years ago, and I don't believe the check engine light has come on during that period either. At this point, I don't even know if the car is safe to drive. Attachment: photo of warning lights after leaving the camelback Subaru (phoenix, az) service shop on 08/07/2019.

4 Cruise Control problem of the 2009 Subaru Impreza

Failure Date: 05/20/2019

The O2 sensor was replaced by resale dealer, after filling car with gas the check engine, traction control, and flashing cruise control light came on. Sensor was rechecked by dealer, and it is okay, codes wiped and reset. Car was filled with gas, lights came back on after commuting back home. Drove until there was 1/4 tank left, lights went off, filled back up with gas all the lights came back on. Sensor still tests back as the problem, but the sensor is okay.

6 Cruise Control problem of the 2004 Subaru Impreza

Failure Date: 12/01/2011

Started as an unusually high idle while in park (as soon as the car was turned on). After a few hours of running it (driving 48 mi to work and errands), I would put the car into drive & as soon as I would remove my foot from the brake (already having a high idle) it would accelerate on it's own to 15-20 mph. When I would brake and bring the car to a full stop, it would "jump" slightly against the brake. Finally I noticed the gas pedal felt as if it was not moving smoothly. As I took the car off of cruise control (at 65 mph) by turning it off at the cc controls on the wheel (my feet not near the pedals) it began to accelerate rather than slow down. At this point I parked the car & called for a tow to the Subaru service center.

9 Cruise Control problem of the 2004 Subaru Impreza

Failure Date: 10/27/2005

The contact was driving at 60 mph on the freeway and the throttle stuck. He used the foot pedal brake and it would not stop the vehicle. The emergency brake did slow it down to approximately 40 mph. The rpms registered up to 8000. He shut the vehicle off after it slowed down. The vehicle was towed to the dealership. They checked it and found that there was a recall but it did not include this vehicle due to VIN. The dealership said it was the cruise control cable that made the throttle stick. The vehicle is still under warranty.

10 Cruise Control problem of the 2002 Subaru Impreza

Failure Date: 07/03/2002

The car in front of me slowed down so I tried to disengage the cruise control with the cruise control lever. My goal was to slow the car down however it was not working fast enough so I pushed on the brakes. I was unable to push on the brake because it felt like a cement block. My cruise control did not disengage forcing me to pull over onto the shoulder where I was still unable to come to an immediate stop. Finally I pushed in the clutch which helped to slow the car down but the brakes still felt very stiff. I believe this was a problem that was created due to my using the cruise conrol. The car was taken to our mechanic who could not find anything wrong with it. I believe, however, that a temporary malfunction occured that caused the cruise control to fail to disengage.
