3 Other Fuel System Pump problem of the 2010 Subaru Impreza

Failure Date: 12/15/2018

Vehicle was stationary. Car died when starting. The starter turned over and the engine engaged, but immediately died. There was no forewarning concerning the health of the engine (I. E. No check engine light, no rough riding/issues with gears). My mechanic checked inside the fuel pump and saw there was a wire burned black that caused the fuel pump to fail. We are very concerned that this is a fault of equipment and not simple wear and tear on the car.

4 Other Fuel System Pump problem of the 2010 Subaru Impreza

Failure Date: 10/14/2015

Tl-the contact owns a 2010 Subaru Impreza. The contact stated that the vehicle hesitated to start. After several attempts, the vehicle started. The failure recurred multiple times intermittently. The contact also stated while driving approximately 45 mph, there was a smell of fuel from the gas tank. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for diagnostic testing. The mechanic stated that the wire that was attached to the fuel pump had a short and the caused the fuel pump to melt. The fuel pump, and the wiring harness was replaced. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage 97,000. Mf.

5 Other Fuel System Pump problem of the 2012 Subaru Impreza

Failure Date: 05/23/2014

My daughter was driving the car after getting off work at !:30 am when the engine stalled and the car would not restart. From time to time since I purchased this car new, the engine would sputter while driving. It turns out that there was a cut in the fuel filter. Our mechanic said it was unlikely that it happened any time except when the filter and fuel pump were installed by the manufacturer. There are many complaints about this car using oil. . . Mine does too.

6 Other Fuel System Pump problem of the 2005 Subaru Impreza

Failure Date: 01/01/2013

I was researching this site for something else when I came upon complaints about the toxic smell of gasoline/fuel when starting up certain Subarus on extremely cold days. I live in colorado and the smell of fuel is awful when the car is started in the winter and I can sometimes smell it while operating the car. I have a 2005 Subaru Impreza wrx. My car has had so many problems: bearings in the transfer box failing twice, the fuel pump failed (on the highway no less, where I was almost hit by a truck because my car lost power so quickly). The radiator went. . . The turbo failed. My car has always been dutifully maintained. If this fuel smell is serious I hope Subaru will handle it as such but my experience with the local dealer and Subaru corporate has led nowhere.
