Fuel Pump problems of the 2002 Subaru Impreza Wrx

Two problems related to fuel pump have been reported for the 2002 Subaru Impreza Wrx. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Fuel Pump problem

Tl. The contact owns a 2002 Subaru wrx. The contact after receiving a NHTSA campaign I. D. Number: 09v468000 (fuel system, gasoline:delivery:fuel pump) the took the vehicle to a local dealer. The dealer stated to the contact part is not available and will be available at the dealer in three days. The contact stated that was a year ago. The contact called the manufacturer and they stated the dealer should have the part. The contact continued to search for parts for the vehicle but the dealer still did not have the part. The contact done some repairs to the vehicle because the check engine light came on and the vehicle smelled like gas. After the repairs the dealer stated they can not repair the vehicle because the contact took the vehicle to another location for repairs. The contact stated the vehicle is becoming unsafe safe to drive due to the smell of gasoline inside the vehicle. The contact stated the vehicle could cause a fire. The failure mileage was 96,599. 2 Fuel Pump problem

Failure Date: 01/08/2004

When starting the vehicle a foul fuel smell seeped through the ventilation system.
