The contact stated that while reversing, the reverse back up switch was activated; however, the reverse lights and the back over prevention camera feature failed to activate as designed. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the reverse switch needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the vehicle had experienced the failure listed in NHTSA campaign number: 22v522000 (back over prevention). The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and the contact was advised to report the failure to the NHTSA hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 118,000.
