I was an hour into a 5-hour trip. I stopped the vehicle at a interstate rest area. I then went to start the car again after 5 minutes or so, and it would not start. After getting a jump start, I drove back to my dealership, and they informed me I needed to replace my battery. This vehicle is only 2 years old. I paid for a new battery.
I had parked my car in front of my house and did not use it for 2 days. When I went to drive the car, it with not turn on. I had to call aaa to jump the car and I let it run for 30 minutes then drive it for the next 30 minutes. I parked the car again and 6 hours later went to go out and it would not start again. Called aaa again and had them come jump start the car. Both aaa mechanics said this is a problematic battery. I went to my Subaru dealer in rye, NY and they said my battery is fine and I had a loose negative terminal. This was a lie and incorrect. The battery was first put it on 7/15/2019 and this was less than 2 years later that it died on me twice. I have service documents from the car dealer for the battery install and the recent service to check the battery as well as aaa to vouch for my calls to them.
I have owned the car for ~15 months and driven it for 2500 miles. The battery has failed four times. Each time Subaru has replaced the battery under warranty and told me that nothing is wrong and that the car simply needs to be driven more. I now see that this is a systemic problem for Subarus (e. When driving my 2018 Subaru wrx premium in the heat with the a/c on it is causing extreme driving conditions with the car stuttering causing fluctuation in speed with the car dragging then propelling dramatically due to the turbo engaging. The erratic change in the performance of the car is not normal and is cause for attention from the manufacturer. I was driving on the freeway and this pulled such an extreme drain on the cars electrical system and cooling system it almost made my car overheat in the middle of fast moving traffic. My car is well maintained and driven responsibly. I had my family in the car and this could have caused a traggic situation as the freeways here in California are very unforgiving.
My tire is worn out after I purchase a car from carmax.
Battery draining beginning in December 2019 but still exists.
Driving and on a turn between 35-40 mph my wrx freaked out. The dash light up like a christmas tree, the lane tracking along with the adaptive cruise control indicators flashed, and the dash said eyesight unavailable. It felt like I couldn't control the car and almost felt as if it accelerated on its own. I hit the breaks and the lost control of the vehicle and ended up in a ditch. The front of the car ran through brush and ended in front of a tree. The airbags deployed on the side but were delayed on the passenger side until the car stopped. My fiance was in the passenger seat. Front airbags did not go off even though it was a front collision. The car was on a country road with other traffic in front of it.
The contact owns a 2018 Subaru wrx. The contact stated that the vehicle had been parked in the garage during the winter months and while attempting to drive the vehicle, the vehicle would not start. The contact stated he charged the battery and he was able to restart the vehicle. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The contact stated that the failure persisted, and he replaced the battery himself. However, the failure reoccurred, and he was unable to restart the vehicle. The dealer and the manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 5,000.
Had to replace the battery in 2019, really short life for a 2017 model.

In January 2019 at around 10pm pst my 2018 Subaru wrx experienced a serious malfunction. At the time of this incient I was in a secluded, wooded area without cellphone service, as well as being at least 30minutes to the nearest store. This could have been deadly. I was going down a hill at 35mph, it was rainy and difficult to see. At the bottom of this hill was a sharp turn, at this time the safety system actived taking over all control of the vehicle. This caused the steering to lock up, pulling to the far left, towards a 15-20foot drop into a lake. The approaching turn I was supposed to take was a sharp right. Still unable to regain control I was driving straight into the fast approaching lake. Shortly before the endge of the road I was able to force the vehicle to the right. Again steering locked up, now forcing me far right. At the right was dense trees, bushes, and shrubs. Narrowly able to regain control before going head-on into a tree, I forced the steering wheel back to the left. I ended up striking some bushes and a tree stump. Causing minor damage to the passenger side mirror, scratches to both passenger doors, and a deep dent on the lower rear door and quarter pannel. This is when the rear passenger tire collided with a tree stump, taking the 35mph brunt impact that stopped the car instantly. The tire was separated from the rim by a tree branch, the lower control arm was bent and cracked, the entire rear drive train was push to the right causing the alignment of the driver side left tire to be pushed out as well. The airbags did not deploy. The car was 100% immobile at this point as the rear tire wouldn't move. After spending an hour I was able to remove the old tired and put on the dought. I have complained about the issues that casued this many times and nothing has been done. I am scared of this car and will never own a Subaru again.

Narowly able to regain control of sterring I crashed through bushes. Causing minor damage to the following; passenger side mirror, scratches to whole passenger side, deep dent on lower rear door and quarter panel. Rear passenger tire collided with a tree stump with impact at 35mph stopping the car instantly. Tire was separated from the rim by a tree branch, lower control arm was bent and cracked, entire rear drive axle was push to the right causeing alignment of the driver side rear tire to be pushed out. The airbags did not deploy and I hit my head on the driver's side window. The car was 100% undrivable tire wouldn't move. Taking damage tire off and putting on donugt took over an hour, I couldn't get the damaged tire off. A lot more to this as well. I have complained about this issue many times and dealership did nothing. I am scared of this car and will never own a Subaru again. This is one of dozens of issues I have with this car. Its getting worse but the dealer wont care until I get hurt.
Subwoofer and amp overheated during normal use causing wires to burn and melt causing a significant fire safety issue. This is seemingly similar to the issues that lead to a 2017 recall of almost 10,000 2015 model year wrxs.
Battery lasted only less than 2 year s.
Driving car with passenger in cold weather (~0 degrees f) on city streets. After 10min of driving, passenger air bag light switched off, notifying me that passenger air bag was turned off while passenger was seated. Additionally, near the speedometer, the srs airbag error notification turned on, signaling an issue with the srs system. Incident has not been replicated.
Vehicle was parked, car off. Vehicle owner in gym working out when an employee alerted him he had smoke coming out from underhood. Owner went out and found flames coming out of hood scoop. Opened hood and found what appeared to be secondary air pump on fire. Extinguished with fire extinguisher. Towed car to shop and initial inspection appears that the plastic secondary air pump caught fire and was starting to burn and do damage to surrounding underhood components. Vehicle currently in shop (Smart service 206-417-0880) having damage parts replaced. It appears that if this fire was not extinguished it would have burned the vehicle to the ground and anything surrounding it. More pictures are availble by calling shop listed above as well as all old parts will be saved for inspection if needed.

I own a 02 wrx I live in armidale australia. I just spent a lot of money fixing this problem. Please be careful when the car heats up it can burn out the exhaust sensor
and cause major problems with the turbo. I notice once there was no
sensor left it gave my car computer nothing to go off . In result costing me 3000 dollars to fix . Wrx drivers take care and please get your sensors checked to see if they are in anyway faulty.

In my 2003 Subaru Impreza Wrx, on multiple occasions, when I hit a small bump in the road (could be an expansion joint in a bridge or a crack in the road surface that has been patched) while braking, the abs kicks in and does not allow me to brake. After about one second has passed, the abs turns off and I grind to a halt. I have larger-than-stock, high performance tires, and on dry pavement, the stock brakes are not capable of applying enough pressure to lock up the brakes. But if I hit a small hiccup in the road, the abs turns on and does not allow me to apply any significant amount of braking power. As soon as it disengages, the increase in braking power is quite significant. I have yet to be in an accident as a result of this defect, but I have learned to leave extra distance between myself and the car in front of me. Subaru is doing a "voluntary recall" to fix this problem after an investigation by your organization. I find it astounding that you were unable to replicate this problem. If this is the case, then I strongly urge you to revise the methods you use to develop an experiment. This is an obvious problem. It is relatively easy to replicate. If you are unable to replicate it, then you have not developed an experiment to effectively test for this defect.

Traveling on a damp, bumpy asphalt road in seattle (tempurature was in the mid-40's). Light ahead turns red - I apply the brakes as usual, but the peddle suddenly sinks about an inch and I feel abs come on. It feels as if the brakes have no stopping power and are only working at about 10%. I let up on the brakes and tried again, and was able to stop before hitting the car in front of me. This has also happened once before, on some metal drawbridge grating. It seems as if the abs comes on in times when it should not, which causes the brakes to practically not work. If a car had been closer in front of me, I would have hit it.
