Two problems related to air conditioner have been reported for the 1997 Subaru Legacy. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Air conditioner compressor froze up, this caused belt to shred, part of the belt that shredded was over in engine compartment, had no warning except air conditioner was not cooling properly, contacted dealer, and wrote letter to Subaru manufacturer.
Air conditioner blew fumes into vehicle, causing consumer to pass out and run off road, resulting in a vehicle collision.
