1 Blind Spot Detection problem of the 2018 Subaru Legacy

Failure Date: 01/20/2026

The infotainment touchscreen in my 2018 Subaru Legacy experiences “ghost touch,” where the screen registers inputs without driver interaction and becomes unresponsive. While driving, the screen changes settings on its own and distracts the driver. As a result of the touchscreen malfunction, critical safety features including blind spot warning and lane keeping assistance became disabled. This directly impacted safe vehicle operation. The issue was diagnosed by an authorized Subaru dealership, which confirmed the head unit is defective and requires replacement. Subaru previously issued a warranty extension for this known defect. Subaru of America denied goodwill assistance despite the safety-related nature of the defect.

2 Blind Spot Detection problem of the 2017 Subaru Legacy

Failure Date: 12/11/2020

When driving my vehicle from las vegas nv to mesquite nv the bsd/rcta automatically disabled itself out of nowhere. I have low mileage on my vehicle and my vehicle has never been in an accident so I took it to Subaru dealership where I get all my maintenance done and they have no clue why all of the sudden the sensor malfunctioned and it was at no fault to my own they said but since the vehicle is no longer in warranty so I will have to pay a pretty penny and I just feel that should be the manufacturer do to the fact that this is a safety feature on their vehicles and it was not my fault it malfunctioned it was their system.

3 Blind Spot Detection problem of the 2015 Subaru Legacy

Failure Date: 11/02/2020

Sitting in parked vehicle, motor off, windows down heard a quick popping sound. I looked sitting in parked vehicle, engine off, windows down, heard a quick popping noise. A quick inspection, looking around saw nothing. About 20 minutes later driving home, top speed 35 mph, on a local community road, saw a hairpin crack starting from bottom of window, driver's side, going up across windshield and midway across. The window was clear except for crack. Called a reputable company to schedule appointment. The representative suggested I call the Subaru maintenance department as previous Subaru customers had recall on windshield. I call to learn VIN not a recall. I am extremely happy with my Subaru. I have taken the vehicle back to the Subaru dealer from whom I purchased every six month for oil change and all recommended mileage maintenance inspection. Due to low mileage, 26,433, could it be possible the windshield may be defective? thanking you in advance for a quick response. 😊.
