The buckle stopped working without cause. Car is only a couple years old and my child attempted to buckle themselves only to find out it didn't lock after trying to buckle in. I took car to Subaru dealership and was told that they had no idea why it stopped working and it was not repairable. They attempted to fix it but couldn't figure it out. Thus I could not use this seat in my car due to the danger of not being able to have a passenger buckled. This is scary as there was no reason that the belt no longer buckled and concerns me that the other buckles may be defective, especially if we were to get into a car accident knowing that there's a chance that the buckle may not work.

The windshield cracked about 1inch for no reason, driving off of the lot after purchasing my used Subaru Legacy. The next day, another crack appeared while driving slow speeds on a flat roadway. The second crack is located in a new location, and spans about 2-2. 5 ftabout 3/4 the length of the entire windshield. After researching, I came across a lawsuit currently filed against Subaru America for this very issueeasily cracked windshields for these years and models.

The issue is with the rear middle seat belt interfering with rear passenger seat belt buckle. This was brought to the dealer who mentioned it looked fine but they can move it over. After a few days, the seatbelt revered back to the incorrect position.

I was driving straight in stop and go traffic on a main town road. And was rear ended at under 20 mph. My head hit the steering wheel and I was wearing my seat belt. I do not feel that the seat belt kept properly restrained me.
Purchased a new Subaru Legacy Feb. 28, 2018. After only 70 miles the warning light for seat belts and airbag malfunction appeared on a starlink system and dash. After immediately taking it in at the local car dealer, service agents claimed that a "rodent" has caused the damage. After further research, we have discovered a national civil suit against Subaru. Apparently they are using biodegradable materials on the wiring of many new cars that attracts squirrels and mice. We have lived at our current residence for over 35 years with numerous cars in the driveway without this problem. Consumer reports on July 10,2017, reported that they have uncovered various technical bulletins from Ford, gm, Honda, Toyota, as well as Subaru concerning this issue. Dealer, at the moment, refuses to fix it without extensive cost to us. This is a serious problem with this car--driving it would not only be unsafe but illegal since the air bag as well as the seat belts show a malfunction. Fixing it may not solve the problem on permanent basis.

I have a driver side seat belt lock that clicks all the time and creates a hazard when driving. The noise is excessive and can distract a driver from the road, thinking that something is wrong. I am reporting this to you, because Subaru thinks this is normal. I, as a lessee, was never informed regarding this issue before signing paperwork. It keeps getting worse and is very distracting.
Rear passenger (driver side) seatbelt failed to buckle/lock.

Purchased a pre-owned 1999 Subaru Legacy in 2008 as a gift for my 18yr daughter. Within months of ownership driver side shoulder belt ripped! I contacted local Subaru dealership and was told it would cost $300 to order a new shoulder belt and an additional $300 to install it! regular mechanic won't install anything but a genuine Subaru belt due to liability however I am a widow and cannot afford $300 for a part that has always lasted the lifetime of any vehicle that I have ever owned. Given the mandatory nature of this part is there anything that can be done to help me? I am less than impressed by Subaru's response and obvious comfort with taking such a huge profit for a part that provides basic safety and must be warn by law!.

Hello, I had bought a 2006 Subaru Legacy 2. 5 gt limited and I live in the hills of western MA, so my car saw 2 winters. Coming back from boston, MA 14 miles from home (out of 135 miles) as I was entering charlmã´nt I slowed down to 30 mph. As I approached a corner with a car coming in my lane. I thought if I went into his lane best case scenario I could make it. But we clipped back bumpers and when I put my brakes on the car started going faster at that time I just said there was puddle with ice underneath. But now with the recall about the brake lines in certain states being recalled, that makes since because when I slammed onto my brakes the car started to go faster not slowing down. I contacted about the accident [xxx] vp of Subaru of America or soa. All he kept on doing was denying about this and offering $500. 00 if I bought a new Subaru and now with the recall of the brakes it makes sense and even the recall he won't replace my vehicle in closing I would like to say that my Subaru was a lemon and at the time of accident they were looking for a car like mine to swap it out with. [xxx] I bet that never will I fill information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

My husband and I just returned from a child safety seat inspection. We have a 1999 Subaru Legacy. We had many problems trying to fit our century 1000 ste convertible car seat into the back seat, and decided to try the "professionals. " the only way our certified car seat inspectors could ensure a tight fitting position for the car seat was on the side (not center, as recommended) and with the seat belt twisted 6 (yes, I said 6) times! of course, the owner's manual of the car says do not twist the seat belt. The instruction manual on hand for the inspectors said that by twisting the seat belt 6 times, we lowered the impact resistance 30%. This is the only way our inspectors could get the seat in, though. We contacted Subaru and they kindly sent us a list of "recommended" car seats for the 1999 Subaru Legacy. They were all booster shield seats, which are not recommended for use with a child my daughter's size. What are we supposed to do? buy a new car? let our daughter travel in less than optimal safety restraints? Subaru prides itself ( and sells itself) as being a safe car. What good does all wheel drive do me if my little girl is seriously harmed or killed due to ineffective, poorly planned seat restraints designed by their engineers?.
Rear anchor seat belts are too long to safely secure a number of child car seats.
