1 Brake Light On problem

Failure Date: 09/06/2020

Flashing brake light and ebrake is not engaging. I checked to see if there is a stuck drum brake by jacking up and rotating both rear rotors. Both rotors move freely. I checked online and there was recall on 2012 models but not on mine (2012 Outback, 3. 6 limited. It is driving okay but I am afraid to take it on highways. Last year brake lining thickness on all four tires were 7mm (Subaru dealership) and I only drove a maximum of 10000 miles. Is it possible that other users face the same problem and there is an issue with ebrake system too.

2 Brake Light On problem

Failure Date: 09/19/2019

While traveling straight on i70 , 10 miles east of colby, KS at 75 mph, the electronic parking brake engaged causing the car to slow down and swerve. The brake light on the dash started flashing on the dash along with the check engine light and swerve light. I stopped the car and consulted the manual which indicated not to drive the car. The car had to be towed to a mechanic in colby. The mechanic was unable to fix the problem and the car was towed to denver Subaru dealer, where it is now.

Tl- the contact owns a 2012 Subaru Outback. The contact stated that while the driver was driving a company vehicle at various speeds, the vehicle hesitated to stop while all the warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to fitzgerald Subaru dealership located at 11407 rockville pike, rockville, MD 20852 (301) 230-9000 where it was diagnosed that the right and left side knock sensor and the right brake light needed to replaced. The vehicle was repaired. However the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the transmission body and harness needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The contact stated that the repair failed to correct the failure. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 73,763. Aw.

5 Brake Light On problem

Failure Date: 08/14/2017

The rear 3rd high brake light leaks every time it rains. This happens both when the car is stationary or moving. It has been doing this every time that it rains for about the last 6 months. I have seen numerous complaints on forums for the same problem.

6 Brake Light On problem

Failure Date: 04/13/2011

While driving with cruise control engaged, suddenly the cruise control disengaged, the brake warning light and the abs warning light came on. The required repair was only the forward oxygen sensor, a non-emergency repair. Yet cruise control and abs were disabled, abs being an important safety feature. I was told Subaru has purposely programed the car this way. Not only was I unable to make a decision as to the critical nature of the actual repair but had an important safety feature disabled unnecessarily.
