~tl the contact owns a 2007 Subaru Outback. While attempting to replace a flat front driver's side tire, the jack collapsed. The contact stated that the jack failed to hold the vehicle's weight. At the time of the failure, the vehicle was in the garage at the contact's residence on a flat surface and the jack was properly inserted into the lift area suggested by the vehicle manufacturer. Neither the dealer nor the manufacturer were notified. The approximate failure mileage was 160,000.

When I bought this car I found the top of the scissors jack was bent over, I replaced it with a very good junkyard replacement. Last night I got a flat and when I jacked up the car. The top of the jack bent over just as the wheel was coming off the ground. It bent exactly the same way as the original. These are stamped steel jacks of a light steel and no bracing on the top riser and in my opinion, dangerous.

I was changing a flat tire with the jack provided by Subaru. I was on a flat surface on asphalt. The jack collapsed under the weight of the car while I was changing the tire, causing the car to crash to the ground. The jack collapsed when the metal threaded bar int eh middle of the jack started to bend. Please see the pictures of the jack and of the surface I was on (it shows it with the spare tire installed, which was done only with the help of roadside assistance because I needed their jack to complete the task).
