I was required to replace the third wheel bearing under warrantee (right rear wheel) on my car at 61359 miles on 10october2017. The first bearing (left rear wheel) was replaced on 15january2016 and the second bearing (left front wheel) was replaced on 29 July after 35270 elapsed miles. Despite complaining to Subaru ntn'l hqtrs requesting that all remaining bearings be replaced after the second bearing failed it was apparently decided that the remaining bearing be replaced only after failing rather than acting proactively. My understanding is that wheel bearings should more or less last the life of the car and not experience the high failure rate that my car has shown. A friend of my also owns a 2015 Outback and has experienced similar problems with his car having to replace both rear wheel bearings. There should be a manufacturer's product recall issued to all Subaru Outback owners to address this product failure after considering the high rate of failure for these bearings experienced by my friend and me. No accident or injuries occurred during these instances noted for both vehicles.
The contact owns a 2017 Subaru Outback. When rotating or replacing tires, the tire pressure transponders on the wheels must be removed and placed in their original positions or re-flashed at the Subaru dealer since 2015. If not, they would not be in compliance with new york and would fail inspection. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The VIN was not available. The contact had not experienced a failure.

Contipro contact 225/60r17 tires were mounted as replacements 11/17/13. Tires were rotated and maintained by dealer on a regular basis. Primarily highway/city driving. I have not hit any fod or potholes - there has been no unusual trauma to the tires. After 13 months, 18k miles, the left front tire's inner sidewall suffered a catastrophic failure. Continental refused to pro-rate or make any adjustment for the premature demise of this tire. Because the car is awd, I was forced to purchase 4 new tires. I believe there is a manufacturing defect in this brand/model of tire. Luckily, I was only driving 25 mph when the tire failed. I have now researched and discovered that there are multiple reports of this type of tire failure for contipro contact 225/60r17. One report indicates that continental replaced the tire under warranty at 18 mos, however, it appears that continental is aware of a manufacturing defect and has now limited the warranty period to 12 mos. They have apparently continued to experience problems with the inner sidewall failure because the tire is no longer offered. I believe this tire should be recalled in the interest of consumer safety.

Front wheel bearings failed. Initially, the noise happened around 30-40 mph. Then the noise (grinding/rotational) got progressively louder and started happening even at low speeds (under 20 mph). Eventually, the noise was accompanied by vibrations/shuddering when the broken bearing supported the load of the car on every rotation of the wheel.
