Failure Date: 08/01/2018

The latch on the front hood is broken it will not close and when I drive on the interstate going to work I feel like the hood is going to fly open. Also the gas door latch is broken as well it will not open when you pull the gas door latch. I was told by credit karma that the driver and passenger air bag are both defective in motion on city and highway street.

Failure Date: 08/06/2017

Cruise control randomly quits working. . I was passing a semi and the cruise just shut off. . And starting blinking. . Has been doing this right along, since I bought it at 46,456 miles on it. . I now have 93,000 on it. . I have to pull over and do the "gm" oil reset code. . Turn the key to on position, and pump the gas pedal 3 times to reset it. . It is dangerous. . . Specially when it turns off while passing or driving. At 70 mph.

7 Equipment problem of the 2006 Subaru Tribeca

Failure Date: 07/01/2016

Takata recall. This is a major safety concern. My vehicle is our family car. I can't avoid having people ride in the front! it is absolutely ridiculous to not have parts ready to replace this problem! also, my hood latch has been recalled & there are no parts ready to fix that problem either! not having parts ready is unacceptable!.

8 Equipment problem of the 2007 Subaru Tribeca

Failure Date: 07/08/2015

I was driving my 2007 Subaru Tribeca b9 to work on the freeway at 65mph when the hood flew open and shattered my windshield. I was in heavy rush hour traffic on a 4 lane major interstate. I could not see at all. I was in one of the middle lanes and nearly caused a major accident with an 18-wheeler that was behind me and had to lock up his brakes to avoid crashing into me. I see there are several complaints of this issue and there should have been a recall to repair this item. I have been a huge Subaru fan for many years and this is the 3rd. . . . And last one. . . . For me.

9 Equipment problem of the 2008 Subaru Tribeca

Failure Date: 04/15/2015

While driving at highway speed, the hood spontaneously opened, smashing the windshield and completely obstructing my view. The main latch and secondary safety latch appear to have been stuck, keeping the hood closed but not securely locked.

11 Equipment problem of the 2006 Subaru Tribeca

Failure Date: 08/22/2014

Driving on highway. All the sudden the differential and brake light came on. I was unable to turn the vehicle. Very dangerous situation.

12 Equipment problem of the 2010 Subaru Tribeca

Failure Date: 06/28/2014

My wife was driving the car and suddenly smelled smelled smoke so she pulled over and noticed that the car was on fire and it was coming from the back passenger door. Luckily two guys driving buy stopped and happen to work for Honda and they put out the fire with an extinguisher then the police and toe truck came and took the car away. The rear passenger door was completely ruined as well as my 2 kids car seats and the whole interior in the car from the fire and extinguisher as well as other interior of the car that was affected. Progressive insurance came to check the car since Subaru of America didn't want to take blame without the insurance coming and placing the blame on them first this is definately Subarus fault and the car must have faulty wiring or a defect that needs to be recalled.

13 Equipment problem of the 2009 Subaru Tribeca

Failure Date: 06/03/2014

While driving my car I rested my left foot on the "footrest" of the drivers side floor and the heel of my shoe went right thru the floor of my 2008 Subaru Tribeca. I had to take my foot out of the shoe to get the shoe "unstuck". I thank god I was not driving on the expressway and could pull over when it happened. When I took the shoe out I could see a black wire in the background area. I know this is not normal or safe and I would like to know if it has happened before and how I can get this repaired.

14 Equipment problem of the 2006 Subaru Tribeca

Failure Date: 02/02/2013

I was driving down the highway when suddenly the entire safety mechanism that holds the hood down detached and sent the hood slamming and smashing into my windshield. I was blinded instantly and there were semi trucks all around me. I was able to pull over to the shoulder safely. Glass was everywhere and my rearview mirror was smashed out and went flying at me while I was driving as well. I found three other reports online from three different drivers with the exact same thing happening to them. All I did was google Subaru 2006 Tribeca. Subaru basically told me it is none of their concern and too bad. They refused to send out one of their reps to confirm what I was saying. My insurance appraiser as well as a body shop confirmed this was more than likely the cause of this incident. The safety latch was plastic and obviously not meant for safety. My mother and sister were in the car with me and it is a miracle no one was hurt or killed. I am beside myself at the way Subaru has treated me. I have also filed a complaint with the attorney general's office. This is a disgrace.

15 Equipment problem of the 2008 Subaru Tribeca

Failure Date: 12/25/2012

I was driving my 2008 Subaru Tribeca with my family in the car on I-70 east near baltimore in the middle lane when the hood of the car opened smashing into the windshielf. Both the hood and the windshield were damaged. The incident happened 35 minutes after the start of the trip. There were no bumps on the road and no other vehicles were involved in the incident. The hood was last opened by a Subaru mechanic during an oil change about 2 months prior to the incident. No similar problems occured prior to the incident. There was no indication that the hood was not properly closed. Furthermore, the second safety latch didn't appear to have worked even if the first gave way. Subaru was contacted and I was told this was an insurance issue as they claimed there were no recalls (even though I insisted that no recalls was no indication that this was not either a manufacturing or a design defect.

16 Equipment problem of the 2006 Subaru Tribeca

Failure Date: 06/11/2007

The contact owns a 2006 Subaru b9 Tribeca. Two weeks ago, the vehicle's navigation system began to blink while driving. The contact pulled over and the vehicle caught fire under the hood. The manufacturer stated that her insurance agency should pay for the damages. The dealer refused to send someone out to inspect the vehicle because it is not in their protocol. The fire department arrived and a fire report was filed. The current and failure mileages were 4,000.
