Suzuki Forenza 2007, 42,000 miles. 1) transmission range sensor: transmission slips when in drive -- panel shows a "d" with a slash through it. After researching, have found this to be extremely common among the most well-maintained Forenzas. Unacceptable. Engine light came on and as soon as I tried to go forward ,the car would just decelerate down like 10 or 20 mph "scary" within a matter of seconds and no matter how much I pushed the pedal to accelerate to the floor but it was as if I didn't have power. 2)tire pressure light comes on every other day. 3)the front passenger air bag light comes on to show the air bag is not working even if I have a passenger seated properly in the front seat.
I purchased my 2006 Forenza on June 15, 2006. I had a no start problem at first but the was corrected. In March of this year, my headlight and high beams completely failed. I took it to a Suzuki dealer and had the wiring harness replaced, costing me $118. 00 because my warranty had expired and there was no recall issued for that particular failure. Although the service manager stated that it was a known problem. Now my car, like many other 2006 Forenzas, has a failure with a transmission sensor. I called the dealership, and was told again that it has a common and well known problem, and I do still have a powertrain warranty, but as the sensor is on the transmission and not in the transmission it is not covered under warranty and I will have to pay $235. 00 to have it replaced. I am livid right now! I was on the highway when the sensor told my transmission that it was in neutral and went from 65 to 70 miles per hour to 40 mph. Why doesn't it surprise me that Suzuki refuses to issue a recall on this? OH, that's right, because it only has to do with the safety of it's consumers. Can someone, please educate Suzuki on what the word "safety" means?.
The contact owns a 2004 Suzuki Forenza. The light switch on the front driver side began smoking when it was turned on. The steering sustained burns. On November 20, 2007, the vehicle remained at the dealer for three weeks. She retrieved the vehicle on December 15, 2007 and returned to the dealer the following day. Currently, when the light switch is turned off, it would come back on. The dealer had the vehicle until January 16, 2008. The vehicle went back to the dealer on January 27, or 28, 2007 because the switch was not working. None of the lights on the instrument panel or exterior lights were working. She received the vehicle back on February 10, 2008 and was informed that the failure was the harness in the switch and the wires. They did the wiring. The vehicle is currently with the dealer and has been there since February 10, 2008. The dealer stated that they are still trying to diagnose the failure. Nhtsa campaign id number 07v452000 (exterior lighting) was referenced. The current mileage was 89,791 and failure mileage was 81,000.
