1 Timing Tensioner problem

Failure Date: 12/10/2006

Noise coming from timing cover. Dealer indicated it was timing chain tensioner. Dealer stated this was a common problem and that there is a technical service bulletin (TSB) concerning this issue. Total cost to remedy the situation was approx $1600. The engine would need to be pulled from vehicle, oil pan, timing cover removed and three chains, and related tensioners replaced (12. 5hrs labor). This problem should be covered either in total or partial by manufacturer.

2 Timing Tensioner problem

Failure Date: 10/27/2003

2000 Grand Vitara with 60k miles needs a timing chain tensioner. Have been told this part should not need to be replaced at 60k miles. Have read information from other Suzuki Grand Vitara owners with similar problems after warranty is expired.
