1 Brakes Failed problem of the 2006 Suzuki Grand Vitara

Failure Date: 11/20/2013

After starting up my vehicle on a cold morning the brakes failed to work immediately. The first time I hit them after putting the car into gear and moving they did not stop the car. I started to roll through the stop sign, but pumped the brakes several times and stopped. This also occurred on very cold evening at work the temperature was somewhere around 10 deg f. This time I had to pull the parking brake to stop. After pulling into the garage and letting the car warm up it did not happen again. I am concerned this could happen when driving and cause an accident.

2 Brakes Failed problem of the 2006 Suzuki Grand Vitara

Failure Date: 06/06/2010

My rear brakes are making a loud noice like metal against metal. I had the brakes checked at several places, including a Suzuki dealership (wright Suzuki) in addition to firestone and mr. Tire. All three said my rear brakes are in excellent condition as well as the front. I also reported that the brake pedal seems to go down a little further than what I precive as normal (compared to other vehicles). This started about 6 months ago and I just had them checked again on 8/28/10 at mr. Tire again, and nothing is wrong. When I took my car to wright Suzuki to have another recall on the same vechicle certified that I had the work done earlier, another Suzuki Grand Vitara like mine was pulling into the service bay and it's rear brakes were making the same noice as mine. I spoke to the owner and he said his started about 2 weeks earlier and he too noticed his brake peddle going down further than it had before. Now I only have mine and the other Suzuki owner with this problem, I am filing a complaint to see if others have had the same issue. I'm afraid my brakes may fail when I need them most. I'm trying to have something done but no one can find the problem.

3 Brakes Failed problem of the 2007 Suzuki Grand Vitara

Failure Date: 12/26/2007

Told Suzuki that brakes where no good they said that they seemed fine a week before. The car also would set the cruise control to engage at 0mph and go to 40rpm when I took my foot off brake. The dealer saw no problem. I was going into my driveway at 1mile per hour when the brakes entirely failed.

4 Brakes Failed problem of the 2003 Suzuki Grand Vitara

Failure Date: 09/19/2003

The brakes on the car failed, the brake pedal was pressed and it went all the way to the floor but the car will not stop. The hand brake was pulled and the car was directed out of the road into the grass to make it stop. The distance was measured and it was 75 feet from the point where the brake was applied to the point the car stopped. The car was going 35-40 mph. The driver finally got the car to stop by pulling the hand break but the car hit the bumper hit the rear of pick up truck in front and the tow hitch of the pick up truck cracked the front bumper of the car the car is brand new and has 1300 miles only on the car.

5 Brakes Failed problem of the 2001 Suzuki Grand Vitara

Failure Date: 11/19/2001

Complete brake failure on 5 separate occasions beginning at about 400 miles on the vehicle and continuing to present date. Failure has resulted in being unable to stop until rolling thru intersections. . . So far no accident. Vehicle has been back to dealer for problem 4 times, most recently during November. Dealer and manufacturer seem inclined to ignore the problem despite the potential for disaster for my family. Problem seems to be in the anti-lock braking system--driver can feel abs shuttle valves chattering (opening & closing) as if the system senses a skid on both sides, resulting in both side brakes releasing simultaneously. Consequently, vehicle braking is near nil, only means to stop the vehicle is to manually override the hydraulics. Override requires full strength from driver with foot on brake pedal, and still nearly impossible to stop the car. Each incident has, thus far, taken place at slow speeds and has occurred within 15 minutes of first engine start of the day. If this problem happened at high speed or at a critical stop incident it would almost certainly cause an accident. This vehicle is scary, and Suzuki [kathy at (800) 934 0934 ] promised back on November 21, 2001 to intercede with dealer to get the problem corrected. Thus far neither dealer nor Suzuki motor company has bothered to contact us. Four attempts to fix this problem are 3 times too many. This car is dangerous, but we have no alternative but to drive it until a loaner vehicle is provided by the dealer/mfgr while this one is repaired or replaced. Took the dealer 4 attempts to get the front end aligned, and it still pulls to the right, just the same as it did when we picked it up new. Thus, not much confidence on that service department being able to fix this serious problem. Thus far, failed on 4 tries. Promised Suzuki regional rep would contact me the day after I turned the car in earlier this month--he didn't--p/u10 days later brakes failed again in 2 days.
