I'm having issues with the range sensor on my 2008 Suzuki Reno. I replaced it last year with a new one and failed July 2016. I replaced it with a new one. Now its late November and again problems with the range sensor again!!!!!!!!! after relacing it with a new one in July 2017 that's 4 months after and I need to replace again??? what is going on here looked this up and there are alot of issues with range sensor on the Reno's. I'm unemployed and not getting any benefits can't be relpacing this part over and over again!!!!! there should be a recall on this!!!!!!!!!! this happens when I turn my car on as I go into drive mode I feel a jolt/tug and check engine light comes on. I could be driving then I feel a tug and check engine light up. Also when I try to speed up it feels sluggish it does not pick up like it normally does. Just yesterday I was braking as I came off the expressway and I felt that tug and check engine light pops up and my stopped!!!! wth if I had a car in back of me there could have been an accident!!!!!!!! what is going on here?? when I replace the range sensor the teeth on the sensor are all scuffed!!! this has been happening on and off. Normally I turn my car off wait a while start it back up and the check engine light if off.

So I park my car in the drive way turn it off and take the key out but the car didnt turn off. . It was still running. It turned off when I opened the door, the lights on the dash all stayed on. This happened numerous times. I've had this car since 2006 and have had my share of problems with it. . Before this happened I was having issues starting it for about a week. . Maybe longer. I would have to start it about 3 times before it stayed on.

The check engine came on, and I had a diagnostic done. It showed one O2 sensor was not good. It was replaced. After one week the light came on again, and another sensor needed to be replaced. About two weeks later, the light came on again, and the test showed that the catalytic convertor needed to be replaced. This was replaced. Two months later the light came on again, and it shows that both the O2 sensor and catalytic convertor need to be replaced. Nonetheless, the car passed the emissions test, but the light is still on, and the diagnostics still read the same; the O2 sensor and catalytic convertor need to be replaced. The acceleration now has problems. Sometimes, the car will hit 3-4 rpm while the acceleration is at 40 mph and will not go higher. Sometimes, I have to pull over because a "burning rubber smell" is emitted from the engine and comes into the car through the vents. The mileage now is about 96500.
Issue noted: a hesitation/loss of power while driving resulting in rapid deceleration and no response from the acceleration pedal/throttle. Several "pumps" of the pedal were required and after some coasting, the vehicle accelerator would respond again. Issue noted as being worse in warmer temperatures and also when driving on hills/inclines. Issue creates a major safety concern when pulling into or across lanes with traffic as the issue may reoccur at any time. On the first occurrence of this issue (10-12-09), vehicle was taken into dealership w/ hesitation and loss of power. The throttle body was replaced at that time with part#13400-85z20. Issue reoccurred (06/09/11) and dealership checked electrical connections/ground wires, etc. And applied stabliant 22 to terminals. Issue reoccurred (08/24/11) and throttle body was replaced again with part# 13400-85z21. Issue reoccurred (01/25/12) and was taken to an import specialist that suspected the foot pedal sensor (est. Cost 350. 00). Subsequent service at dealership included wiring/signal correlation work between throttle body and foot pedal sensor. Issue is reoccurring now (07/07/15) and after $1597. 22 in repair costs since 2007 with this issue, I am hesitant to spend more money on a poorly engineered product that the manufacturer refuses to accept responsibility for by issuing a recall (similar complaints noted on this site and online. ).
