1 Seat Belt problem of the 2007 Suzuki XL7

Failure Date: 01/01/2014

The airbag would not turn on regardless of the weight in the passenger seat. When inquired with dealer, we were told there wasn't enough weight even though it ranged from 120- 250. Then the air bag idicator came on and the air bag on/off passenger light is always on off, the airbag on/off light never goes on. Now the dealer is telling us we need to replace the pad in the passenger seat. . . Probably, they can't be certain until it's been changed at a fee of $800. This seems to be a constant issue for this vehicle and the plant that it was made in. The Xl7 and other gm cars with same body frame have the same problem except the Xl7 is not being recalled. Why not? I fear it's because the Xl7 has had a smaller production than other gm cars and now with Suzuki no longer in production, we owners have no one to investigate and initiate a recall - isn't this where/when the government should be stepping up? this cannot be meeting mandatory safety standards. My research shows these vehicles were effected in addition to the Xl7:GMC/acadia 2007, Saturn/outlook 2007 manufacturer: general motors corp. Nhtsa campaign id number: 07v062000 mfg's report date: February 21, 2007 component: air bags: frontal: sensor/control module summary: on certain vehicles, the sensing and diagnostic module (sdm), which controls the function of front air bags, may not operate properly. As a result, the front air bags may fail to deploy in a frontal crash. Also, the air bag warning lamp on the instrument panel may fail to provide warning that the system is inoperative. Consequence: n the event of a crash, this condition could increase the risk of injury to occupants in the front seat. Remedy: dealers will reprogram the sdm computer module. Why is the Xl7 not included in this recall/ repair/ reprogram?.

2 Seat Belt problem of the 2007 Suzuki XL7

Failure Date: 02/04/2011

On February 4, 2011, I was driving between 10-15mph on a very rough road due to the city of tulsa not clearing the roads after 12 inches of snow. All of the sudden all side air bags went off. That day I drove it to the dealership. I did not get it back until April 23, 2011. I was giving every excuse in the book on about every day on why it was taking so long to get fixed. An insurance check was issued to the repair shop February 18th. The parts were not ordered until around the 28th. I was told they could not find the seat belts and I was asked to try to find some online. Once I provided two sites to the repair shop they claimed they can only order from Suzuki. My wife informed the dealership she was going to report this to the local media outlet. All of the sudden seat belts appeared 1000 miles away. They even argued about having to get them. The insurance company (farmers) wants a recall on the rollover sensor, and requested the repair shop to contact Suzuki. The repair shop want me to do this. I had to pay for the sensor being farmers thinks it is defective. $447. 49 total bill $5766. 73.

6 Seat Belt problem of the 2005 Suzuki XL7

Failure Date: 09/28/2008

The rear passenger seat belt latched and, upon arrival at destination, would not unlatch therefore trapping the child in the car. The child had to extricate them self from the latched belt to become free of the car. The seat belt is still latched and will not release. I contacted the service department at the local dealer and they are unwilling to fix or replace the belt at their expense. If I had been involved in an accident, this type of failure could result in death. This is a serious malfunction to the originally installed safety equipment. The vehicle is a 2005 Suzuki Xl7.

Brakes made loud grinding noise, have had brake pads/liners replace 3 times in the last several months. Problem will not resolve. Brake pedal becomes mushy and abs has failed several times. Seat belts lock and stay locked at the slightest braking pressure and/or vehicle speed and do not release for several minutes. This is a serious problem that no one seems to want to address.

10 Seat Belt problem of the 2003 Suzuki XL7

Failure Date: 02/20/2006

Letter of complaint and frustration on the poor quality of 2003 Suzuki xl-7 and subsequent pathetic lack of service at the dealer. ***** the molding on the running boards on both sides of the vehicle came off. All the seat belts except for the front driver and passenger lock for no reason. Once locked the seat belts can not be loosened. The seat belt has to be unbuckled the allowed to retract fully before it will function properly. When the interior lights were in auto mode the light did not come on when the doors were opened. A consumer smell a foul odor like oil or something burning. The dealer said that the smell was from the undercoating applied to protect the undercarriage and that it would go away in a few months. The smell persisted beyond a few months. The instrument panel light would go off intermittently. The brakes made noise. The dealer blamed the noise on the brakes being new. The battery terminals corroded.

11 Seat Belt problem of the 2004 Suzuki XL7

While driving on flat road, the vehicle did not accelerate over 50-60 mph. The dealership was unable to duplicate the problem. The consumer purchased the vehicle with what she thought was minor cosmetic problems then they started to get worse as time went on, there was a dragging which came from the rear interior, the seat belt holders rattled, the leather seats had sink holes where the batting was coming from the leather, and there was a loud roar coming from the engine.
