Steering Noise Problems of Suzuki XL7

Many, many gm products are being recalled due to faulty ignition switches, and the Xl7 shares a lot of parts and similarities with the equinox, vue, and so on. Can it be determined if the 2008 Suzuki Xl7 uses the same ignition switch? also, for at least three years, a groaning noise emanates from the steering wheel upon turns. We owned a new 2006 Chevrolet hhr that made a similar sound that the dealer was unable to remedy.

At slow speeds the steering wheel makes noises when being turned in each direction. Almost feels like a loss of steering power and is difficult to turn. It was noticed after purchase and dealer could not identify the issue. Have continued to use the vehicle, and problem persists. Reviewed internet for recalls. Don't see any, but see plenty of other people with the exact same issue.

Steering has been an ongoing issue at low speeds. Almost feels like the power steering has gone out and turned manual. Also noises come from steering when making turns. This care was produced on a general motors assembly line. All the gm cars were just recalled for steering problems. Why isn't this brand of vehicles being recalled?.

I purchased my Xl7 new from shortline Suzuki in 2009. It has 43,000 miles on it and it has developed a noise in the steering column, I had the dealership check the issue and was told the steering rack needed replacement, I have driven this vehicle for only 2 years!! this is a defect, not an isolated incident, as many have complained here and in the Suzuki forums. I also have had water leak into the vehicle from the sun roof as reported by another owner. I cannot express how disappointed I am with the quality of this vehicle. I purchased new so I would not have spend time in the shop, yet I have had a myriad of issues.

Hearing a noise in the steering, reported to dealership along with other service issues in Feb. 2011. . Was told that something was going on with the power steering did not have repaired due to cost quoted at that time. . . . Reported again today -11/11/11 at dealership and am now told that the components in the steering gear are bad, and is not warrantied. Was also told that these components are not designed to go bad? well what caused it then, and if thats the case then why won't Suzuki do something?? I was quoted a repair cost of $800!. Cannot have repaired today due to the cost. I asked question if the manufacturer would assist with the cost, was told no. I see several other complaints regarding this same issue and nothing is being done by Suzuki. . Is there a class action suit out there regarding this? what can we do to get one started. Or maybe this may fall under the lemon law? or was this ever a recall issue? very disappointed with Suzuki, I purchased the vehicle brand new in 2007 and have not had any other major problems until this!. Power steering wheel hard to control. Power steering wheel makes noise. Power steering fluid gets very low. Needs to be refilled very often. I have been informed on the NHTSA website that there is a recall for the vehicle Suzuki Xl7 2006. The recall is #10v250000 steering hydraulic power assist-pump potential unit affected #46549. My vehicle is Suzuki Xl7 2008. I had this vehicle inspected and confirmed the same problem as the Suzuki Xl7 2006 and agreed that driving this vehicle is unsafe and potential danger.

A couple of years ago when our Xl7 was still under warranty neal Suzuki in fort worth, texas, fixed the squeaky noise in our steering wheel by replacing the rack and pinion. Today, July 14, 2010, the noise is back and has been back for approximately two months. I haven't noticed any performance issues with the steering other than it has been more sensitive than normal at freeway speeds, 60 and above. The noise is most annoying especially while maneuvering through parking lots. My mother-in-law and my wife's CO-worker have experienced the same problem with their Xl7s too. I called the service department and since my car is out of warranty I have to pay for the repair this time even though it's the same problem that I had before. What an outrage and rip-off! who's on the consumer's side? car corporations are to consumers as major league baseball umpires are to baseball teams and players. It seems they can do any thing wrong, make any bad call, without suffering any consequence, while the consumer has to pay the price and bre the burden.

The contact owns a 2008 Suzuki Xl7 limited. The contact stated that while driving at low speeds and making a turn, he would hear a winding noise from the steering. The vehicle was then taken to a dealer and the contact was informed that the steering rack had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. Approximately one year later the failure recurred. The failure mileage was approximately 30,300. The VIN was unavailable.

I am the owner of a 2007 Suzuki Xl7 and have noticed a noise coming from the steering wheel. I researched this on the internet and found that dealerships are stating this is the steering rack problem. My vehicle currently has approximately 60k miles so it is out of warranty. I have owned several vehicles with high mileage and never had any steering issues. It is scary to think that I may be driving this vehicle with my son and something would happen to the steering all together. I really like the vehicle but Suzuki should look into this before something tragic happens to someone. If I had alternative transportation I would use it but have to rely on this vehicle for everything. Until I can save enough money to pay for the repair there is no alternative but to drive it. The government can bail out banks but can't make a car company fix a potentially dangerous situation on a vehicle until someone is killed.

Vehicle was newly purchased in 2007 from Suzuki dealership. Grinding noise from steering wheel after 6months. . Told that it is rubber rubbing against rubber. Engine light remains on after having a problem with starting car after fueling. Constant problem with wheel alignment and tire wear.
