Equipment problem #1

When there’s heavy rain, the horn is muffled very badly you can barely hear it.

Equipment problem #2

Turn signal indicator buttons stick and/or activate the opposite turn indicator of the button pressed. Issue is persistent and I have had two other steering wheels replaced and all three have the same problem. Tesla technician told me that it is an issue with the steering wheel and there was no fix. Have a video of the problem but I am currently unable to upload.

Equipment problem #3

I have reported to Tesla how dangerous it can be long term to have one pedal driving and to use the accelerator as a cancelation mode to it’s many errors, see uploaded example picture. Also, having lighted notifications on mirrors causes people to subconsciously ignore actual blinkers of other vehicles; the only thing that should be on a side mirror is an adjustable fish eye mirror that allows to see the entire side lanes and tire placement.

Equipment problem #4

The turning signal buttons (this car has buttons instead of a typical stalk) often becomes stuck. It’s like all of the buttons on the left side of the steering wheel are already pushed down, and therefore, I cannot indicate whether I’m turning by pushing that turning button.

Equipment problem #5

Tesla Model 3 software & trunk security issue vehicle: Tesla Model 3, 2024 issue date: September 25, 2025 I am reporting a serious software reliability and security defect in my Tesla Model 3. On September 25, 2025, the trunk opened on its own overnight due to what appears to be a software malfunction, resulting in the theft of $500 in personal belongings. The Tesla app sent only one notification while I was sleeping, with no alerts for over eight hours, failing to provide proper security warnings. Tesla customer support was unable to resolve the issue and suggested multiple drivers might have access, even though only one friend has access to the car and it was not her doing. Vehicle data from Tesla privacy support showed two hours missing during the trunk event, and Tesla could not explain why, only speculating a software glitch. This incident demonstrates a critical software and security failure that compromises vehicle safety and personal property. Tesla has failed to provide an explanation, solution, or preventive fix. I am reporting this as a serious software reliability and consumer safety concern. Best, [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

Equipment problem #6

Safety restraint warning in car, unsure of actual issue but warning keeps popping up. Presumed that the seatbelts or airbags would not properly work in event of a crash. Dealer/company says it's a known issue, with other cars needing a fix too, however they aren't able to specify exactly the issue or issue a timeframe on repair. Issue first started appearing in late August of this year, and has become more frequent as of recent. Potentially this is a critical safety issue regarding airbag/seatbelt's potentially failing to work as designed for all similiar models.

Equipment problem #7

While using Tesla’s auto park feature, the vehicle struck an obstacle without detecting it before or after impact. The system failed to log a collision event in its detection systems, giving no warning and providing no reasonable opportunity for driver intervention. Data retrieved directly from Tesla confirms that forward/side collision sensors did not activate, “near deploy” collision detectors remained inactive, and although a “crash algorithm wake-up” was triggered, the vehicle did not brake or attempt avoidance. This represents a potential systemic defect in Tesla’s auto park detection logic and/or related hardware that could result in collisions without driver awareness or system logging — a safety risk for any Tesla driver using auto park.

Equipment problem #8

Button turn signal on new Model 3 is vet dangerous. When steering is rotated, is is impossible to find the signal button because of the location of the button is also rotated according to the rotation of the steering wheel. It caused me a traffic accident when I tried to find the signal button when there was traffic congestion in the middle os traffics. This must be replaced traditional turn signal lever.

Equipment problem #9

Newer Tesla Model 3s (2024+ hihgland) removed the physical turn signal and drive shift stalks. This creates serious safety concerns: 1. Inconsistent or difficult/impossible signaling: in certain turning maneuvers, especially while driving with a sharp wheel angle, such as on curves, roundabouts, or a turn immediately following another, it becomes physically difficult or impossible to reach and activate the appropriate touch signal. This failure to clearly signal intentions to other drivers increases the likelihood of collisions and endangers both the driver and others on the road. 2. More frequent signaling errors: the touch buttons for left and right turn signals are placed side-by-side, with no tactile distinction. This can lead to frequent accidental activation of the wrong signal, especially in high-pressure or fast-response situations. Misleading or absent signals confuse surrounding drivers and pedestrians, increasing the risk of sideswipes, intersection crashes, or pedestrian strikes. 3. Delayed or failed emergency shifting: the removal of a physical gear shift stalk in favor of an on-screen interface causes dangerous delays when quick, instinctive gear changes are needed, such as switching from drive to reverse to avoid a crash or recover vehicle control. Because there is no tactile control, blind muscle-memory responses are difficult or impossible, and looking away from the road to the display may be necessary, increasing the likelihood of a collision in time-critical situations where every second counts. Tesla has since reintroduced turn signal stalks in the updated model y (juniper), and older Model 3s had them, proving this is a design choice, not a limitation. These changes reduce the ability to safely operate the vehicle under pressure and should be reviewed for compliance with safety standards.

Equipment problem #10

When driving in the rain or in wet conditions, the car’s horn cannot be heard at all. It is extremely muffled and can pose a serious hazard to the drivers if they cannot be heard.

Equipment problem #11

The horn is extremely quiet especially after driving in puddles or in the rain. The horn being a speaker on the front of the vehicle causes it to become clogged and practically muted when used in the rain or after driving through water. The speaker horn is extremely quiet and unsafe.

Equipment problem #12

Turn signal buttons jams occasionally. Very difficult to reproduce due to the infrequent nature of this issue, but it happens about twice a week in daily driving. Several owners of this model vehicle have reported the same issue on the forums. Dealer/manufacturer refuses to address this issue other than to say they know this is a know issue. In several instances, the turn signal button jams at very critical turns on the highway which created a safety hazzard. I have several video clips of this occurrence.

Equipment problem #13

Tesla cars use loudspeaker that mimics the car horn when used. In rainy conditions this speaker becomes very muted and the horn is barely heard even when right next to the vehicle. When reaching out to Tesla they say this is a normal occurrence and the will sound normal again once the speaker dries out. This shouldn’t be normalized and poses safety concerns in rainy conditions.

Equipment problem #14

During freeway driving, turn signal buttons located on the steering wheel, which when working properly produce a tactile click, fail to click and engage the turn indicator. A service visit to Tesla resulted in technician unable to replicate the issue. I was instructed to date stamp the problem. The next time I drove the car on the freeway, the problem repeated.

Equipment problem #15

Turn signal capacitive buttons are incredibly hazardous for safe driving. They are failing to register inputs for me regularly as resting your finger on one as is natural in a normal driving position, locks the signal out for a period of time. I had to look down trying to work out why the signal button was not registering my intent to change lanes on a freeway causing significant distraction at a critical time. Manufacturer refuses to do anything as they say it is just normal for the vehicle.

Equipment problem #16

This vehicle has push button turn signals that have replaced traditional steering wheel stalks. These can be difficult and dangerous to use as the steering wheel is being turned especially when you are trying to signal direction in the now numerous round-abouts that are installed in florida and around the nation. They are also dangerous to operate during night time driving. I believe Tesla should recall these vehicles and install steering wheel stalks similar to their older model cars and which have been in use on all the vehicles I have operated in the past 60 years. It is not a matter of just getting used to their operation. It is a bad design.

Equipment problem #17

In instances of rain or snow. The horn along with the pedestrian warning system do not function properly and aren’t audible. It appears to me that there is water intrusion into the speaker of which the horn and pedestrian warning system both use and that is what muffles the sound.

Equipment problem #18

Car horn is muffled or no sound when driving in rain or exposed to water. It takes 30min-4h to dry out to be fully functional again.

Equipment problem #19

The turn signal buttons stick when pressed sometimes and don’t activate the turn signal. You have to keep pressing repeatedly which causes a hazard.

Equipment problem #20

Touch activated car signal buttons often cease to work or allow input preventing safe and legally required signaling to show intended path of car to pedestrians and other vehicles. Tesla say it’s normal behavior and won’t repair.

Equipment problem #21

When vehicle is in rain or sub-freezing conditions, the horn completely stops functioning. Took vehicle to Tesla service and was told, "technician inspected and found the vehicles horn to be working as expected at this time. Technician noted that under heavy rain/snow the vehicles horn may not work as expected due to water accumulation in the cut out for the horn. " the issue is reproducible every time the vehicle is exposed to rain or snow.

Equipment problem #22

The vehicle consistently has pillar camera blockage warnings. I have had this repaired once but it still happens. This would not be a problem except the vehicle offers no other cruise control than adaptive. My concern is the vehicle consistently has phantom braking ( listed in a separate complaint I have made). I am concerned the two issues are related. The last time this happened is reported below.

Equipment problem #23

The new steering wheel design has buttons for left and right turn signaling. These buttons often get stuck/jammed and prevents the driver from successfully signaling. This is dangerous on the freeway where you are having to fiddle with the jammed buttons while lane changing at high speeds.

Equipment problem #24

12/26/2024 around 5-6pm, full self drive abruptly tried to accelerate into the intersection while sitting at a stop light. I stopped it immediately but was very surprised as fsd v13 has been exceedingly reliable and a pleasure to drive. This is the 2nd time this has happened after the holiday update of fsd 2024. 45. 25. 5 (v13. 2. 2). Both times mine was the lead car at the light with no others ahead of me. This behavior has been reported multiple times in social media groups this past week by other fsd users. I entered a Tesla service request but have not heard back other than an automated appointment scheduled at the service center 8 weeks from my request and the incident.

Equipment problem #25

In rainy conditions the horn does not perform as expected.

Equipment problem #26

Turn signal buttons will get stuck intermittently and not be able to actuate. This causes the inability to reliably and predictably utilize the turn signals. This also takes attention away from driving and places additional focus on looking at the buttons instead of the road.

Equipment problem #27

The left turn signal button will occasionally not work. Apparently this is a known issue but I have received nothing from Tesla about a fix. I took the car to Tesla service today (currently there now) and they are telling me they will look for the problem. They gave me the same model demo car to take for a couple of hours and the same thing happened twice in a row to make lane changes on the freeway then never happened again. There are several youtube videos about the problem. [xxx] being one. This problem makes this not only unsafe but also I could get a ticket for not signaling a turn. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

Equipment problem #28

The button turn signal will not function about 10% of the time making it very dangerous for me when I do need to signal. People attribute this problem to resting your thumb over the button for an extended period of time and the steering wheel no longer registering the input. I believe that this is a tremendously dangerous design flaw. Tesla should return to the stalk turn signals.

Equipment problem #29

The push button turn signals occasionally do not work. The buttons are completely unable to be pushed and activated. This issue occurs several times a day when attempting lane changes, left and right turns. I am unable to duplicate the issue on-command, but it occurs often enough and in situations where it is very dangerous, particularly in traffic when a turn signal is necessary and it will not activate. When I took the car in for servicing the issue, the technician confirmed that this is a known issue. They replace the entire turn signal and steering wheel assembly. But it did not solve the issue as the issue continues. There are no warning lamps, messages, etc. It simply does not work sometimes and randomly.

Equipment problem #30

The buttons on the steering wheel stick and do not work. These include the turn signals and also bright lights and windshield wipers. They stick on my car, and I am renting a 2024 Model 3 that they stick on as well. It’s not possible to signal a turn or wipe the windshield when this happens, which is a safety issue.

Equipment problem #31

Lane change turn signal/indicator buttons stop working. Multiple times go to change lanes and the indicators have disabled themselves. There are no stalk based turn signals/indicators on the 2024 Tesla 3, only steering wheel indicator touch buttons. Searching on internet says the buttons can disable themselves on Tesla 3 if you rest your fingers near the indicator buttons. This is a huge problem if anticipating a turn or lane change. When you are ready to legitimately use them they are often disabled causing panic and causing you to look down to understand the issue, while at speed while on highway. Feature should be disabled entirely or at least optionally disabled. . Or stalks available as retrofit. Super dangerous not being able to indicate when desired. Thousands of these cars on road with same issue. While also a bad design that the signal buttons rotate with steering wheel in general, (eg. Almost impossible to indicate and exit while in a traffic circle, or indicate immediate left then right turn, as the buttons are no longer at 9/3 as they would when driving straight, but now some random angle away from hands that have had to re-grip during a tight turn) the buttons disabling themselves for a perhaps 5 second period on a whim is crazy dangerous and main reason to raise this safety issue. This seemingly affects all 2024 Tesla Model 3.

Equipment problem #32

Steering wheel has buttons for turn signals (they removed stalks in 2024 Model 3). I’ve had several dangerous incidents where the turn signal buttons have failed to activate. This caused me to panic and nearly get into an accident on several occasions. I brought in for service and they said this is a known problem with 2024 Model 3. What a joke! they told me to bring it back in once I can replicate it 3 times again. Apparently we are lab rats.

Equipment problem #33

The horn on the 2024 Model 3 performance does not activate when pressed consistently. Unless precisely depressed in the absolute center of the horn, the horn will not activate. The turn signal buttons are inconsistent unless depressed within a certain tolerance of the “center” of the signal button. There have been 3 instances where my horn has not activated and my turn signals did not activate when the respective button was depressed on at least 5 occasions. This is a total of 8 potentially life-threatening situations. Vehicle owner made a service appointment with Tesla, as vehicle owner was suspicious of defective steering wheel. Tesla states “working as intended”, then declined repairs/replacement. Vehicle owner continues to have issues.

Equipment problem #34

Turn signal buttons on steering wheel are getting stuck and causes them to be inoperable.

Equipment problem #35

This model vehicle does not have traditional turn signal stalks, it has buttons on the steering wheel to engage the left and right turn signals. Intermittently, these buttons become completely unable to be pressed, and as a result you are unable to signal turns to other drivers. This is a serious safety issue, especially in some circumstances where turn signals are critical to a given situation. Tesla service denied any attempt to fix this issue, citing that I was not pressing the buttons hard enough. I have driven this vehicle daily for months and understand how hard to press a button. No amount of force will allow the button to press when this occurs. I provided five videos of this to Tesla service. Online, many other owners are reporting the same issue. I have a personal friend with a 2024 Model 3 with the same issue, and telsa service also turned him away and threatened to charge him a fee if he reported it again and they were unable to reproduce. Here is an example of a forum of drivers reporting the same. It does appear this issue happens when a driver accidentally rests their finger on the buttons for a period of time before using them. Seems like a software issue blocking the function of the buttons - which are likely capacitive. . Read more...

Equipment problem #36

I am writing to express my concern regarding recent design changes implemented by Tesla motors in their Model 3, model s, and model x vehicles. Tesla has removed traditional turn signal and shifting stalks from the steering wheel and replaced them with buttons. While innovation in automotive design is crucial for progress, I believe these changes have significant implications for vehicle safety and warrant thorough investigation. The traditional design of turn signal and shifting stalks has been in place for decades and has become a standardized control method universally understood by drivers. This familiarity contributes greatly to safe driving practices and allows drivers to operate their vehicles instinctively. Tesla's decision to replace these tried-and-true controls with buttons on the steering wheel is a substantial departure from this standard and may impact the muscle memory and reflexes that many drivers rely on in critical moments. Moreover, the ergonomic and cognitive effects of this new control layout have not been publicly detailed by Tesla, raising questions about whether sufficient research and testing were conducted to ensure that these changes do not negatively impact the safe operation of the vehicle. The consequences of such changes, especially in situations that require rapid response, could potentially lead to confusion, delayed reaction times, or even accidents. Given these concerns, I respectfully request that the national highway traffic safety administration conducts an investigation into the safety implications of these design changes. Such an investigation would determine whether the removal of traditional turn signal and shifting stalks meets the safety standards necessary to prevent accidents and whether adequate testing and validation were performed prior to these changes being implemented.

Equipment problem #37

Left and turn signal buttons randomly do not work especially after disengaging fsd. Sometimes I have to re-engage fsd for the buttons to work. This can be dangerous when I'm trying to make a turn and cars behind me could be going really fast or not pay attention. I believe this is a software or firmware issue and not the steering wheel itself. No warning messages. I did report to Tesla warranty.

Equipment problem #38

On certain occasions, it is necessary to reboot the computer in the vehicle. This causes the entire screen to go blank for about 2 minutes. During the reboot, hvac, the speedometer, and other functions are unavailable. I am unsure if safety feature and adas features are available during the reboot. My complaint is that Tesla allows the reboot to occur while the vehicle is in motion. For safety reasons, I believe that rebooting the computer should be allowed only when the vehicle is in park.

Equipment problem #39

Blinkers fail to activate intermittently.

Equipment problem #40

Turn signal buttons on steering wheels. Place finger over turn signal toggle area continuously without pressing on the steering wheel for less than a minute or longer, unable to engage the turn signal after when pressing. Able to reliably and repeatedly replicate the event. Could be a hazard if unable to signal turn direction when needed.

Equipment problem #41

The right turn signal button was disabled while highway driving. I tried pressing the top/bottom/left/right and center of the turn signal button and could not engage the right turn signal to indicate a lane change. Google search suggests this is a common issue for this model/year.

Equipment problem #42

This vehicle lacks a stalk for turning signals. Instead, there are two buttons on the steering wheel that are used to activate the turning signals. When the steering wheel is far from its regular position (I. E. With the front wheels pointed straight ahead), it is difficult to quickly figure out where the buttons are and which is which. This is dangerous in avoidance maneuvers. It also makes using the signals difficult in other situations, such as roundabouts. I believe that this lack of a stalk will eventually lead to accidents as users will occasionally have to change lanes or turn without signaling because they can't quickly activate a turning signal.

Equipment problem #43

The turn signal buttons on the wheel frequently fail to turn on the turn signals when pressed. It always seems like when I most need to use them, they fail. I already had the wheel replaced by Tesla and was told "this is just how they are" to be clear, when I press the turn signal button on my steering wheel, it will feel like the button will not depress, the turn signal will not turn on, and attempting to lift my finger and place it in other locations to try to press the button will not enable the turn signal. Pushing extremely hard does not work either. It seems like I need to press the opposite direction turn signal button or randomly wait sometimes for it to resolve itself and for the turn signal buttons to work again.

Equipment problem #44

Turn signals are not reliable. They get stuck from time to time and I've already had a couple of close calls.

Equipment problem #45

In addition to the previous problem I reported concerning the intermittent failure of the back-up camera (which was replaced but the problem continues to this date) leading to park assist not working, the touch screen freezing and showing no movement of the car, and the speed control not working, I've also discovered on a freeway trip after putting the car into reverse first that navigation was not usable and the turn signals failed to automatically turn off when the lane change was made. After a rest stop, though, everything worked just fine again. This time I'm writing about the pedestrian warning sounds which do not play when reversing or driving forward at a slow rate of speed. Two of my neighbors have Tesla model ys that sound properly; it dawned on me that even with the windows open, I'd never heard the sounds coming out of my car since I took delivery of it on March 30, 2024.

Equipment problem #46

Tesla removed the physical stalks for turn signals and replaced with buttons on the steering wheel that get stuck when pressed preventing you from indicating at all. Further, putting turn signals on a steering wheel means that the orientation can change when trying to indicate in any situation other than driving on a straight away. This is incredibly dangerous for the driver and other surrounding vehicles. There are numerous blog posts out there with similar driver experiences. Most people who report this issue also report that after Tesla replaces their wheel, the same problem happens again.

Equipment problem #47

The steering wheel buttons on the left include left/right signal indicators buttons that get stuck. This is a problem that is discussed by multiple drivers on online forums. Others are indicating that there isn’t a fix when reported to Tesla. The left/right indicator design is distracting at best and dangerous when not working properly. The approval of the design should be revoked.

Equipment problem #48

The right turn blinker button on the steering wheel freezes in many occasions while the vehicle is in motion. Unable to signal right turn when the button freezes randomly. It happened four times to my vehicle during a 40 minute driving trip on Sunday [xxx]. Prior to the incident on [xxx], the same issue had occurred occasionally while driving but with less frequency compared to [xxx]. This issue was brought to the attention of Tesla service center in syosset NY on [xxx] and I have been told that it was a firmware issue and there was nothing they could do at the moment other than waiting for firmware update. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

Equipment problem #49

Right turn signal doesn’t not work properly. I will press the button where the icon is and nothing happens. The issue is intermittent but apparently all Model 3 2024s are affected and Tesla doesn’t have a real fix, they’ve replaced peoples steering wheels and they have the same exact issue. It causes distraction and panic when the turn signal doesn’t work as expected. People are complaining on a ton of forums online here’s a link to a reddit post: [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

Equipment problem #50

Occasionally the turn signal button cannot be pressed down to make a turn signal. This event has happened quite a few times during some urgent moments when I need to exit the highway and gives us a big concern. I heard from many other owners that Tesla just replace your steering wheel, but it dose not fix the problem. It is not because of pressing on the wrong area of the button. This should be a systematic issue.

Equipment problem #51

Occasionally, the turn signals decide to not work for a 5 second period. This is a car that is "stalkless" (meaning there isn't a physical turn signal stalk to press), but rather it's touchpad buttons on the steering wheel. While these usually work fine, occasionally when I depress one, I can feel that it does not press down at all, and the turn signal does not turn on. I view this as a safety issue in that a turn signal indicates intent to other drivers, and it's unsafe to not be able to use it. Tesla has replaced my steering wheel once (after 2+ months of waiting for "diagnostics") but the new wheel has the same issue. This has been occurring ever since I got this car, and that was many months ago. And I've heard other Model 3 and model s customers have similar complaints. There is something fundamental going on, and Tesla does not seem to want to solve it on their own. They need to have NHTSA add some priority to this.

Equipment problem #52

The new Tesla 3 highland has eliminated the driving wheel stalks and in order to signal a turn, one has to press on one of two side-by-side areas of the steering wheel. After many years of pushing the stalks to indicate a turn, it's not easy to determine which part of the wheel to press to signal a turn or lane change. I have to look at the wheel to do this, which is clearly a safety issue. Better to have Tesla reprogram the wheel to have a left turn signal on the left side of the wheel and the right of the steering wheel to signal a right turn. The windshield wiper area of the wheel an be move to the left side and the right turn signal can go in its place . I assume that it's all computerized and after the coding done, Tesla can send out new decals to indicate the change on the wheel.

Equipment problem #53

1. Blinker button trim/keycaps occasionally become physically stuck in the default (unpressed, open) position. Clicking the buttons at an angle sometimes remediates the issue but not consistently. As a result, the blinkers are physically inaccessible for lane changes. 2. The blinker buttons occasionally signal the incorrect way when depressed. For example, clicking the left signal results in a right-sided signal. Seems to also be a physical issue. These defects can be a hazard to other drivers because of improper use of blinker signals. Component has not yet been inspected by the manufacturer. Malfunctions have been occuring since receiving the vehicle and occurs seemingly at random.

Equipment problem #54

When I indicate to turn right, the indicator sometimes indicates to turn left. This happens randomly but approximately once every eight times that I indicate to turn right. I reported the issue to Tesla in April 2024 and they replaced the steering wheel to verify if there was a hardware issue. This did not fix the problem. Tesla service then informed me that it was a known software issue and that I would have to wait for a software update to fix the problem. I have been waiting for four months but no software fix has been forthcoming. I took the car back to Tesla today, and they told me that they had no eta on the software fix. This is a dangerous issue because if I indicate to go into a right hand lane and the car signals left, then another car can turn into me from the right hand lane, which has happened on one occasion.

Equipment problem #55

The horn stops working after rain. Took the vehicle to Tesla and they stated that this was expected after heavy rain. This is a safety issue because you cannot honk to warn other vehicles or pedestrians as an issue issue, even after the rain until the whole thing dries out.

Equipment problem #56

The turn signal buttons on the steering wheel stick at random. It is extremely dangerous and doesn’t allow for communicating to other drivers when needing to quickly turn or merge. You also have to feel around for these buttons as they’re very small and are not user friendly. You often need to take your eyes off the road to find them, and it’s increasingly dangerous.

Equipment problem #57

The left and right turn signal indicator buttons gets stuck sometimes. But I noticed on my vehicle it is the left turn indicator button is the one gets stuck most. When it is stuck I cannot make left turn signal. Before I asked Tesla to fix it the issue happens every time on my 8 mile trip. After Tesla attempted to fix it it happens a lot less now but this could mean it can go worse as the component wears out. This can put me and others at risk as sometimes I get panicked and depending on the situation.

Equipment problem #58

This car has a new, unique design for activating turn signals. The right and left turn signals are buttons on the steering wheel. The buttons need to be pushed to activate the left or right turn indicators for the car. But the buttons do not work all the time. I thought it was a finger placement issue, but have confirmed it is not that. Instead, the buttons simply become stuck and cannot be depressed. This is very dangerous when I cannot signal to change lanes on the road or freeway, or signal to indicate when I will make turns. An internet search has revealed this is a common problem for this vehicle model, according to various message boards.

Equipment problem #59

I took delivery of my ordered 2024 Tesla Model 3 lr 3/30/2024. Later in the day when I put the car into reverse, I had no back-up view on the touch screen. When it occurred, it also froze the illustrated car on the touch screen when car was put into drive. There was also no movement of the vehicle on the touch screen's map. After contacting Tesla two times and rebooting the touch screen, I was asked to do time stamps on the date and time when the problem occurred, which I did. The problem comes and goes which, in addition to the noted problems, also results in park assist being unavailable. I had an appt on memorial day to bring the car to my service center so it could figure out what the problem was. I was given a loaner older model Model 3 to use while it was in the shop. When I picked up the car, I was told it "may be" the rear-view camera, which was not in stock and had to be ordered. I was scheduled for a mobile service visit to have it installed while working from home the following week, which it was. Later in the day when I was going to the grocery store, I encountered the exact same problems after putting the car into reverse: no back-up view; frozen illustrated car on the touch screen; no movement on the right-side map; and no park assist availability. That evening (Friday, 6/07) I contacted my SC to let it know what happened, and asked "what's next?" I'm still awaiting a response. Today I contacted my SC by phone and was told to bring it in again, but that such appt would be weeks away. I contacted the Tesla consumer assistance # later this morning and was told it would contact my service center about expediting an appt; I'm to hear from it within 24 hours about setting an expedited appt. As of this writing, it's only been about 10 hours since my call. Hopefully I'll hear from the SC tomorrow morning. I'm very discouraged as I had hoped to show the car off in the coming weeks to friends and family and go on a Mini-vacation. Nearly 2. 5 months & counting.
