The gps and camera functionality went out on the same day several days ago. The car thinks it is at Tesla’s headquarters in CA and so you cannot find a charging station near your actual location, and no cameras work meaning the additional safety features for collisions do not function at all. This is a widespread issue based on Tesla user forums.
•unknown parts or system malfunctions; yes, an inspection can be issued •the car is parked very close to the house and continuously producing poisonous and harmful gas, battery liquid and glasses splattered more than 20ft away. •no, before the incident there was no issue observed. •no, but from the fire department report the cause of the fire was "failure of equipment". •no, there was no warnings from the app, or signs of malfunctions. The car functions normally.
High voltage battery systems are failing at an extreme rate on 2021 Tesla model 3 and y. I am a used car dealer and have had 6 battery failures in the last 30 days. When addressing this with the local service center, they said they've reported this to Tesla engineers as they're prematurely failing at "an alarming rate". There is no advanced warnings. The vehicle just leaves you stranded.
I was accelerating out of a parking lot and was up to 30 mph when the vehicle suddenly shut down and the rear end began shaking. The control screen went completely black/off. I could not accelerate at all. A semi truck was coming from behind and the vehicle came to a sudden stop within a few seconds. I could not coast and pull into a parking lot. It felt like an emergency brake was turned on or the back wheels locked up. I had to turn into the center turn lane. Vehicle doors would not open and hazard lights would not turn on. Opened manual door handle and forced my way out. Shut door as I ran to safety and the window cracked. I could have been severely injured if that semi hit me from behind and especially if this would have happened on the freeway. Very scary that a car can suddenly shut off like that while driving. After repair I was informed that the 12v battery had failed. They said it’s very rare and they have not seen that happen while the car was driving.
I was driving my car when suddenly it started losing power while I was driving 70 - 80mph, and I noticed two messages on the screen: "power limited, schedule service" and "power reduced” and then my car would no longer drive above 50 - 55mph and the heat in the car was reduced . Concerned about the issue, I promptly contacted Tesla to have my vehicle serviced. However, to my surprise, after performing a diagnosis, they insisted that there was nothing wrong with the car. The component I believe failed is the heating pump, which is still installed in the vehicle. My safety was put at risk because I was on a highway with the speed limit was 75mph, and if other people were not paying attention they may have crashed into me due to me suddenly slowing down and also things could of turned fatal if someone were to be stranded in the middle of nowhere without a working heater when it is 0° outside. The issue was confirmed by the manufacturer as a “ engineering issue” that would be addressed with a software update.
Car consistently slows down to 25 mph in 60mph zone on i4 with auto-pilot enabled.
Sudden acceleration. I was stopped in my driveway (flat surface). The car started to roll forward and I pressed brake hard. Vehicle came to a complete stop but when I removed my foot from brake car lurched forward. Car hit a retaining wall approximately 3 feet away before I could stop it again by braking hard. When the car was put in park I was able to remove my foot from the brake without it lurching forward again. Little personal safety risk in this situation in my driveway with no other people around. The car hit the retaining wall at relatively low speed when it lurched forward.
Today, Mar. 22, 2021, in my brand new 2021 Tesla Model Y, which I have now owned for one month, I was sitting at a red light at a fairly large intersection on the outskirts of annapolis, MD. I had my foot resting on the floor as the car was stopped and in hold mode. Suddenly, with the light still red and on its own, my car accelerated through the red light into the intersection at top speed. (I was the first car in line at the red light. ) I slammed my foot on the brake but nothing happened, it kept going right through. A van crossing through the intersection in the other direction proceeding through his green light was narrowly, within an inch, missed by my car, which kept going all the way through until it finally stopped at the other side. Conditions were dry and the weather was nice. It was approximately 1:00 in the afternoon est. I continued to drive until I came to a safe place to pull over, and then called Tesla service and roadside assistance, and found their attitude to be very defensive. I was terrified to drive it so I had them come and tow it to the service center where they say they will look at the log. About a day or two ago, a software update was pushed to my car; that was the second sw update since I bought the car one month ago. This was absolutely the most terrifying thing that has ever happened in my 42 years of driving. I could have been killed or my car could have killed someone. Thank god no pedestrians were crossing in front of me at the time, and that I somehow missed that passing van. I I felt the need to report this incident to the authorities -- I told Tesla I want them to take back the car and give me a new one in exchange. It is only one month old and has just 801 miles of driving on it thus far. I was not using auto pilot, to my knowledge, nor was I using cruise control. I do not have the self-driving package.
While I was preparing to park. The car accelerated on it's own and jumped the curb. The break was not responsive, and I was unable to stop the car. The car hit a pole and stopped. I called the police and filed a police report. This is second time that this has happened since owning the car.
