Engine And Engine Cooling problem #1

The main vehicle computer (mcu) failed. The problem first appeared in may 2024 with intermittent rear camera malfunctions. It has since worsened. Most recently (08/28/25), the center display went completely black and the vehicle became inoperable — I could not start or move it. This left me stranded in a dangerous neighborhood late at night and required the car to be towed. When the display fails, I lose access to the rear camera, climate controls (including defrost), and turn signal indicators. These are safety-critical systems, and in this case the failure also disabled the ability to drive the vehicle entirely. The problem has been reported to Tesla. They inspected the vehicle but claimed the earlier camera malfunction was unrelated to the current computer failure. No independent mechanic has inspected it. The failures are ongoing and reproducible. No warning lights or alerts appeared before the system shut down. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. Being that this issue originally arose back in may, 2024- it should fall under Tesla’s warranty which expired in December 2024.

Engine And Engine Cooling problem #2

The contact was an attorney calling on behalf of the owner of a 2025 Tesla Model Y. The contact stated that the owner was driving on a neighborhood street at an unknown speed with autopilot engaged when vehicle control was lost. As a result, the vehicle crashed into a traffic light pole where it came to a stop and caught on fire. The owner was unable to exit the vehicle and was pronounced deceased on the scene. The origin of the fire was the lithium battery. The location of the fire was under the front end of the engine compartment where the battery was stored. The fire was extinguished by the fire department. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed currently in the possession of the police department pending the cause of the crash. The vehicle was destroyed. The light pole was damaged. It was unknown if the air bags were deployed. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.  .

Engine And Engine Cooling problem #3

Sudden acceleration, I was driving in my own driveway and a modest speed t15 mph I have a circular driveway and I was ascending up the circle when the car suddenly accelerated without my action. I took myi foot off the accelerator and hit the break but the car did not stop or slow down. It continued up my driveway on my lawn and accross my lawn through a fence and I wound up in my neighbors lot with considerable damage. I was shaken but did not seek medical attention at the time. My neighbor and my wife assisted. The car was towed to Tesla contractor body shop -recon. Where it is now. I have requested that Tesla evaluate and repair the car before I drive it again and pick it up from the body shop. I notified the body shopp(toni mccarthy) and Tesla service(radcliffe service person works for don haddon service manager) . So far nothing has happened . Tesla asked me to send a photo of the accelerator but since the car is still in their authorized body shop, I am unable to do it. I am afraid to drive the car and asked them to tow it from the body shop to the rockville Tesla dealer but they seem reluctant to do this. My wife had a separate prior experience with sudden acceleration . N hoping for NHTSA intervention.

Engine And Engine Cooling problem #4

This vehicle radiator protection is defective where rocks are able to hit the radiator and at some point the Tesla notified me that the radiator had leaked and it is safe to continue driving. I continue to drive and monitor the radiator level as I waited for a scheduled appointment. When I brought my vehicle to the appointment, they said that because I drove the vehicle while the radiator fluid leaked I damaged certain components that now I would be responsible to replace. Believe not only Tesla‘s vehicle notification was misleading, they have defective protection for the radiator and all Model Y vehicles if not all Teslas have the same issue.

Engine And Engine Cooling problem #5

While driving, the system prompt electrical system failure. Pull to the road side. Within 20 or so seconds, the car lost power. About 10 minutes or so later, the whole car (emergency light, door, trunk etc lost power too. Consider the car lost driving power in seconds, then lost emergency light can be highly dangerous to all parties. Before the failure, the car shows "front motor is disabled, power is reduced, ok to drive" this ok to drive turns out not ok to drive, misleading. Now the car is fixed (yet to pickup), reason front drive unit and pyro fuse were replaced (new car, but with refurnished part).

Engine And Engine Cooling problem #6

On [xxx] we charged enough more than 80% limit to travel towards knoxville . The vehicle indicated we have enough charge to reach knoxville supercharger. Kindly note our vehicle has set like that it can’t go more than 80mph. While we’re closer to severville, the vehicle still indicated that I need to drive to knoxville but indicated battery percentage will be -2% means we will not be able to drive safely and reach knoxville supercharge as family and might be stranded in middle of night somewhere without any help and safety compromised. This is series issue in vehicle diagnostic and projection while driving it and trusting to take us to right place with proper guidance to supercharger availability. It created a great panic to our family in middle of night. This has to be investigated for misguiding the customers about mileage model-y can go and it’s capability to project supercharger availability to safely drive with family. We panicked and found out supercharger [xxx] in [xxx] in sevierville that model-y will not route or guide us to get charged. This caused reliability and approvals to let such vehicle to be sold which can put everyone at risk. What if we didn’t find our self the charger and vehicle suddenly stopped in middle of traffic that could have caused accident or rear-ending. It’s serious safety issue that vehicle is not evaluating and projecting right information to travel on road. I have taken pictures while this happened and can attach them. Also we all can witness evidence on this whole safety problem we experienced. Reporting this to ensure no other citizen should be put thru such safety issue on a vehicle that runs in american soil. Engine And Engine Cooling problem #7

Since I purchased the car 4 months ago my car has been going into the service center non stop for every issue you can imagine. Tesla spins and blames all issues and ignores me. Corporate says they can’t do anything and then ignore. Service center providing inaccurate or not providing service invoices. Deny my buyback requests. Repairs are failed and new damage occurs at every service appointment. New issues arise with the car every time I drive it. I rarely drive it as it’s not safe. Tesla continually cancels service appointments or does not have parts in stock. Issues: -safety restaurant system fault -electric motor issues: loud high pitched whistle/whine when driving. -car loosing power while driving -seat moving while driving -window clicking -water dripping out of dash vents. -misalignments: frunk, trunk, trim -paint drips, bubbles, cracks, peeling -battery range issues -battery coolant fan issues -defects interior plastic surfaces -seat defects -hole left in front of car between dash and windshield with damages windshield. New dash uneven over airbag. -plastic trim falling off.

Engine And Engine Cooling problem #8

Power was lost completely while car was on the road, breaks stop working and unable to stop. Driver had to go off road to prevent collision and road a accident. Towed to Tesla center. Diagnosis is “internal short” but did not elaborate. No explanation and answer why break did not work. External damage due to accident was not covered.

Engine And Engine Cooling problem #9

My 2020 Tesla Model Y long range/awd vehicle has 46,000 miles and can no longer recharge its battery (engine) with an approved charger (l2) due to a commonly failed part inside the battery. This part is called pcs (power conversion system). This device attached to the Tesla battery is used to convert power from a charger which is ac (household alternating current) into DC (direct current) the battery can understand. This error appeared for the first time on [xxx] at [xxx]. This critical part has failed in thousands of Tesla vehicles, some multiple times easily verified by thousands of customer complaints online. The pcs is not a consumable part - such as a tire, wiper blades, brake pads, etc. There is nothing the vehicle owner can do to prevent the pcs failure. The cost to repair/replace the pcs part(s) is ~ $3,000 and may fail again after replacement. As required by Tesla, I scheduled a service appointment through their phone app, and received an estimate of ~$280. 00 to repair my vehicle on June 26, 2025 at the irvine, CA Tesla service center 2801 barranca pkwy. After diagnosis, I was informed the cost to fix/repair the pcs part in my vehicle so that I could charge and drive it, would be ~$3,000. The manager ryan sutherland (949) 404-2989, further stated the repair would not be covered under my vehicle Tesla warranty (Tesla battery or drive unit warranty that does not expire until [xxx]). I tried to contact Tesla corporate for assistance at resolutions@Tesla. Com and did not receive a response but instead was contacted by service manager ryan sutherland via email confirming Tesla's warranty position. Tesla is essentially the only service/repair resource available for these vehicles. This repair is obviously due to a faulty/defective pcs or faulty design by Tesla affecting thousands of vehicles and should covered under my vehicle warranty so that it can be driven. Engine And Engine Cooling problem #10

The contact owns a 2021 Tesla Model Y. The contact stated while driving 20–45 mph on a six-lane highway, the contact attempted a hard acceleration, and there was an abnormal banging sound heard. The battery was disconnected. The pyrotechnic fuse went into failure mode. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle slowed down, pulsated, and then shutdown. The hazard lights, steering, and brake system became inoperable. The brake pedal was depressed to stop the vehicle from rolling. Additionally, while closing the driver's side door, the glass window fractured. The local dealer was contacted and retrieved a system failure with the 12-volt battery. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 58,044.

Engine And Engine Cooling problem #11

Front motor of 3-week-old Tesla Model Y became disabled while driving on a highway at 65 mph. This meant the car also lost power steering, traction control, and abs braking. Car was limited to top speed of around 40 mph on a busy highway with very little room to pull over. Car was difficult to steer and braking was greatly reduced. There was no advanced warning of this. Was finally able to pull over, exit and reenter the vehicle, which temporarily corrected the problem. However, when the car was started the next day, the front motor was disabled again, but resolved when the car was restarted. The car was not driven again until Tesla service center was contacted and car was taken in for repair. On the way to the service center, the issue occurred again. The alerts included “front motor disabled - ok to drive. Vehicle power may be limited” the vehicle is not safe to drive since this is happening while traveling at high speeds. Tesla service has not addressed the issue or tried to diagnose the cause yet in spite of the car being at their service center for over a week.

Engine And Engine Cooling problem #12

The contact owns a 2024 Tesla Model Y. The contact stated that the vehicle was experiencing an abnormal battery drainage and was not operating based on the designed mileage. Additionally, the contact stated that the vehicle was overheating, and the failure persisted after the vehicle had been parked and turned off. The contact also stated that the front passenger's side window would roll down unintendedly while driving. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a Tesla service center several times; however, the failure could not be replicated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 6.

Engine And Engine Cooling problem #13

1) what component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? response: all 3 times has been with a faulty inverter 2)how was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? response: safety was a huge concern. The Tesla Model Y has stalled and completely shut down while driving through traffic and at speed. The complete failure did not allow any coasting to try and get out of harms way. 3) has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? response: all 3 times this issue has occurred were all serviced by Tesla directly and has always been a faulty inverter. 4) has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? response: yes, all 3 times the car failed the car was assessed by Tesla's service station were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? 5) yes, the first 2 times the warning appeared there was only a matter of seconds before the car completely stopped in the middle of traffic. This last time there was a warning stating the car will not restart if stopped.

Engine And Engine Cooling problem #14

Electrical system had 7 alerts/warning scroll on screen. Said vehicle was going to shut down. Regenerative braking system failed. Pulled car into a parking spot. Vehicle would not go into park so I could not take foot off of brake. Started to shift between park and neutral randomly. Was told by Tesla to reboot car. Did this three times, but nothing changed. Tesla dealership reproduced and confirmed. There were no warnings or messages before the incident.

Engine And Engine Cooling problem #15

Charging system has become defective over last month. Two weeks ago, gave error that charging cover was open when it wasn't. Couldn't get it to charge for a while. Eventually, it worked. Yesterday, would not charge at all on any charger. Being towed to service center tomorrow.

Engine And Engine Cooling problem #16

Vehicle: Tesla Model Y blue purchased in oct’ 23 Tesla setting: regenerative braking (single pedal driving) issue: brake pedal/acceleration pedal malfunction I was pulling my car out from the parking lot to pick up my mom, from the hospital entrance. I just turned right and had to take an immediate left to leave out of the parking lot. The Tesla was driving at approximately 5 miles an hour at that point. I lifted my foot from the gas pedal for the car to stop with its regenerative braking. However, instead of coming to a stop, the Tesla started rapidly accelerating, with my foot not even on the pedal. When I slammed the brakes, the car was unresponsive and continued accelerating. I started honking madly to warn people that I had no control over the car I was driving. The vehicle continued accelerating over 100-150 meters in 4-5 seconds and banged a parked car (Lexus SUV) at the end of the parking lot. It continued accelerating while pushing Lexus over the curb, destroying road sign poles and landscaping shrubs; crossing the street, and the middle curb. At the end of the street was a tree and a ditch. Lexus couldn’t move any further and Tesla stopped. All airbags deployed. One of the emergency response detection systems called 911 immediately. The first thing the police asked me was if I pressed the emergency brake. I said the car doesn’t have one. I can’t even turn off the vehicle while it is moving. The parking button takes care of it. I used to love my Tesla but I can’t trust it anymore. What I want from them at this time investigate all the incidents thoroughly instead of blaming these as a user error. A) think about adding the redundancy system. Something mechanical where the driver reacts within a couple of seconds. Software bugs are hard and sometimes it is impossible to find the root cause. Logs may not contain everything that you need to debug the problem. Consider it as a p0 issue. B) compensate for the damage and property loss.

Engine And Engine Cooling problem #17

I was driving my vehicle and the vehicle suddenly started giving warnings. The gas pedal lost all power immediately and the car started to slow down. I then stepped on the brake pedal to bring the car to a complete stop and turned on the hazard light. However, after around 5 minutes, the car completely shut down and the hazard light also stopped functioning.

Engine And Engine Cooling problem #18

The contact owned a 2022 Tesla Model Y. The contact stated while driving 60-70 mph, she noticed a burning smell. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact then noticed sparks coming from the front passenger's side tire area. Another driver alerted the contact of an issue, and the contact immediately veered to the side of the road. The contact then noticed that the sparks coming from the front passenger's side tire area had become significant and had turned into flames. The front end of the vehicle caught on fire. The fire department extinguished the fire; however, a fire department report was not filed. There was no police report filed. The contact sustained minor bruises while exiting the vehicle. Additionally, the contact sustained an emotional trauma and intended to receive therapeutic assistance. The vehicle was towed to a tow lot. The insurance company then towed the vehicle to another tow lot, where it was totaled. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was 30,028.

Engine And Engine Cooling problem #19

I purchased a Model Y performance on October 31, 2023. I was driving the vehicle on 11/1 and I received an error that my rear motor was disabled and my top speed was reduced to 68 mph. This occurred on a high traffic highway. Took the car to the dealership and they replaced the rear motor inverter. Vehicle only had 130 miles on it. This should not occur in a brand new vehicle. I felt unsafe while driving it in this condition.

Engine And Engine Cooling problem #20

On sept 10 2023, I was at 23rd+route one waiting for green light, as soon as the light changed. I hit the drive but the car suddenly lost control and speed up and I couldn’t stop. I try my best not to hit any people or any cars and ended up hitting the board on the right. I never smoke or drink alcohol. Never did any drugs,I didn’t hold phone. It was absolutely an uncontrollable incident very unfortunate but totally out my control I wish this never have happened as I have good driving record. Thank you, your honor !.

Engine And Engine Cooling problem #21

The contact owns a 2023 Tesla Model Y. The contact stated that while driving approximately 60 mph, the vehicle lost motive power, stalled, and shutoff. The vehicle was restarted. The message, "vehicle will shut down - pull over safely" was displayed. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer but was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 5,100.

Engine And Engine Cooling problem #22

On, June 24th and July 15th my vehicle experienced multiple errors while driving. Indicator lights stated the following: stability control disabled, dash cam disabled, traction control disabled, regenerative braking disabled, emergency braking disabled. On July 15th the front motor was disabled, causing the vehicle to not have enough power to continue up the mountain. The vehicle stopped in the middle of the highway, and started rolling backwards. After I was able to turn the vehicle around, the brakes were grinding, and did not stop the vehicle. There as a smell of burnt rubber, and the brake pedal started “ popping” and moving back and forth on its’ own. The engine failure has occurred twice, and all of other errors have occurred 4 times since June 2023. I made an appointment with the Tesla service center and they cancelled my appointment, for no reason. After the July 15th incident, I took the vehicle into the service center myself. These issues are intermittent, which is very dangerous. The car will experience these errors, and then operate as normal. Tesla told me that they thought this entire thing was “ strange” and that they have never heard of this issue. All logs on the vehicle show these errors, and I have a witness. Tesla has not updated me with the status of my repair, or even a diagnosis. I am terrified to drive this vehicle.

Engine And Engine Cooling problem #23

On 2 occasions, my 2023 Tesla Model Y, accelerated more than expected with the slightest pressure to the accelerator pedal. No one was injured and no damage done, however, damage and injury could have resulted if this happened at a different place and time. At this time, I have not contacted the dealer as recent google searches revealed other such complaints having been reported. The outcome was determined to be driver error each time. This, because the vehicle has no way of recording speed at time of accelerator depression. The acceleration was not in proportion to the surprise result, instead a "spurt of speed" rather than the slower anticipated speed required when pulling into the garage or into a parking spot. These 2 episodes occurred after a time of, what could be considered, a normal day of driving, parking, stopping and accelerating at intersections, in parking lots and regular street driving.

Engine And Engine Cooling problem #24

When placing foot on brake to shift into gear, vehicle goes into multiple faults and disables all safety features. Also mid drive vehicle loses power steering and cause unsafe driving conditions. Brakes also start to behave erratically when this occurs.

Engine And Engine Cooling problem #25

The contact owns a 2023 Tesla Model Y. The contact stated while driving 40 mph, a message that the vehicle was shutting down was displayed and the vehicle stalled. The contact was able to restart the vehicle and the vehicle started operating normally. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the contact was informed that a wiring harness clip was not clipped correctly. The vehicle was repaired but the failure recurred several times. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the contact was informed that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 41.

Engine And Engine Cooling problem #26

The car completely stalled on the freeway. Giving less than 20 secs of warning that the vechicle will shut down. I got over from the fast lane to middle lane and car shut down. I had to call 911 and tow truck. I towed it to Tesla and they said the rear unit failed… car was just purchased new a few months before this.

Engine And Engine Cooling problem #27

Auto acceleration(forward) caused while parking and crashed into fence and utilities. Requested Tesla to diagonalize the cause of auto acceleration. Tesla couldn't handle my request well and they canceled and delayed my request, finally, they rejected my request as the car was salvaged.

Engine And Engine Cooling problem #28

My 2022 Tesla Model Y suddenly stopped on the road with a message on the screen saying “pullover safely vehicle shutting down”, but the car stopped immediately and would not move. Another error came up saying “rear motor disabled”. The sudden stopping was very dangerous, and it could have been life threatening had it been on a highway. Luckily for us, I was just pulling the car back from our driveway, but more than half of my car was on the road when the car stopped suddenly with the error message. I can’t imagine what could have happened had I been on a highway with or without auto pilot. We are all very disturbed by this experience as the car just suddenly stopped. Tesla is not safe on the road with this problem. Battery was at 235miles left and the car is in great condition otherwise having driven only 8k miles. Car had to be towed to the service center, but next Tesla service appointment shows almost a month later.

Engine And Engine Cooling problem #29

Bought a brand new Tesla Model Y with 11 miles on it. 1 mile down the road it tells me to “pull over immediately” “reduced power” I was going 45 mph downhill and thankfully not a lot of cars around. I pulled over and it said reduced power, exit and enter vehicle to restore operation. I did and it worked fine. I drove home with no problems for 25 miles. An hour later I was headed somewhere else and stopped at a light, when it was green I accelerated then it did the same thing but I was on an entrance ramp to a bridge and 5 cars were behind me. The car then was in reduced power mode and told me to do the same thing again, exit then re-enter. It was busy traffic and took me 5 minutes to get out when there were no cars going past me. It reduced power and couldn’t excelerate and caused a dangerous situation. This happened 3 more times while I was on the phone with Tesla support before I had to wait 2. 5 hours for a tow with 47 miles on it.

Engine And Engine Cooling problem #30

Fatal Tesla brake failures. The brake of Tesla suddenly failed while I was driving, it has happened multiple times even after the service center claimed the issue was fixed. When the issue happened, the brake was not effective and made huge noise while I pressed it. Meanwhile the steering got pretty heavy, other components failed(front motor disabled, traction control disabled and stability control disabled) at the same time as well. Tesla service center has tried to fix this issue once, but the issue happened again after only one week since they fixed it. Luckily I was driving slowly on a local road both times, but it was apparently fatal if driving on a highway. I've uploaded the error message on Tesla screen and repair invoice as attachments.

Engine And Engine Cooling problem #31

Driving 70mph on the highway, car abruptly clunked and three warning messages appeared. App_w009 automatic emergency braking is disabled; dif_a062 power reduced; and bms_a170 acceleration and top speed recuded. Car immediately dropped to 40mph and gave me enough time to exit the freeway to the shoulder. After putting in park, the car would no longer shift into any gear. Soft reset and full reset, exiting and re-entering the car didn't fix the issue. Tow required. Failure of rear motor (inverter) was cited in the service center. Seems to be a common issue across model 3 (as far back as 2017), Model Y (deliveries in Nov/Dec 2022) and model s (the last 3-4 years). Very dangerous if someone had hit us when it decelerated hard on the highway. Traveling with a 6yr old in a car seat. Only 500 miles on the car.

Engine And Engine Cooling problem #32

I bought this Tesla Model Y in less than a month to be specific February 23th, I was forced to park the car due to rear motor failure. I had barely any time to find a parking lot before the car shot down on me. Until today, I have not gotten the car yet from Tesla due to long delay repair time.

Engine And Engine Cooling problem #33

After just 250 miles on the car and just after one month of the purchase, my wife along with my 4 years old daughter was driving to get my 7 years old son from the school when it suddenly stopped on the road with displaying errors on the screen as follows, the car battery was sufficiently charged, later from the inspecting what it appeared that the "rear drive unit" of the car got screwed up. Warning and error messages were: "acceleration and top speed reduced" "power reduced" there was a huge school traffic jammed behind the car, luckily other car owners offered help but the car was not moving, it stranded in the middle of the road. We contacted Tesla they towed the car after one hour of the call, they kept the car for a week and told us the whole new "rear drive unit" need to be replaced. After a frustrating experience they offered no replacement but to fix the car. . Read more...

Engine And Engine Cooling problem #34

The car stopped suddenly in the middle of the street. By the grace of g-d, this happened on a quiet street because we decided to take a detour and could have instead been on the freeway! we were with our 3 young children (all in carseats). We could not restart the car after it stopped, and there was no warning it was going to stop. We were not using autopilot.

Engine And Engine Cooling problem #35

First my car was having issues charginging at the charge stations. Then as soon as that issue occurred, I had to replace the car battery. Then I noticed that the windows would randomly retract while I was driving my vehicle. My child had pointed out that his window was down, when he did not roll it down. Then I noticed some leakage from underneath my vehicle. My main concern of fluids leaking from my vehicle was my main concern. The Tesla dispatcher confirmed that concern by stating that fluids should not be leaking from my vehicle. When he started accusing me of having a car accident that caused me to be even more concerned. He told me that the Tesla service center on 1100 colorado Ave, santa monica, CA. Would find out if I did have an accident by running a diagnostics. When I had my car towed to the Tesla service center, their main concern was a hole in my tire and their professional opinion was to just patch up the tire and not replace the damaged product. Crystal, a representative from the service center said that she would address the main concern of the leakage which she never did. She told me that my car was ready for pickup. I was again confused because she never addressed my main concern. Then I asked what I was paying for and she simply said that it was on my estimate and that it’s a patch for my tire. She was very adamant about me picking up my car before the service center closed at 5:30 but told me at the last minute to do so. She did not explain the details of the leakage until I inquired about it. I did not receive the diagnostics that were promised to me by your Tesla dispatcher. Her explanation to my main concern was, “ no leak was detected under the car so just recommend monitoring and definitely taking a pic when it happens. If the leak is by my left front tire, it’s more likely to be my ac and can be normal. ” that did not make me feel like Tesla’s supplier code of conduct was being followed. Now I am being told that the only liquid coming fro.

Had car less than 48 hours and charged for first time overnight and the charging stopped 1 hour into the session. In the am there was no power to car and had to call roadside that was able to jump and get power to remove charge and get on tow truck Tesla reports a pcs unit and voltage unit failed and need replacement this car is less than 38 hours old with 103 miles.

Engine And Engine Cooling problem #37

The contact owned a 2024 Tesla Model Y. The contact stated that while shifting the vehicle into drive (d), the vehicle inadvertently accelerated. The contact stated that he depressed the brake pedal, but the vehicle was gaining forward momentum. Additionally, the steering wheel would not turn right or left. No warning light was illuminated. The contact stated that the vehicle gained speed and crashed through a chain link fence and drove into an alley. The contact stated that the air bags deployed. The contact stated that the vehicle then crashed into a building wall and finally stopped. The contact stated he had abrasions on both hands from the air bag. The contact stated he was treated by emt on scene. The fire department and police were also at the scene. The vehicle was towed to an impound lot and declared a total loss by the contact's insurance provider. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 25.

Engine And Engine Cooling problem #38

On June 28th 11:50pm with 174 mile range, my Tesla Model Y lr died while driving on fwy 5 with my 10 year old. I barely had time to exit, it gave me warning “pull over safely” “vehicle shutting down”. I barely made it to off-ramp, my car completely shutdown at the end of off ramp. Could not put it to neutral, me and my 10 years old had to exit the car immediately, called tow truck via Tesla app. Tow truck showed up in 20 mins, can was not drivable. This could have been much worst, if I was not able to exit and my car stuck on middle of the freeway at night. This is a huge safety concern.

Engine And Engine Cooling problem #39

My son was driving my Model Y performance trim Tesla Model Y on may 23,, 2022 and thank god he was in a relatively safe parking lot; the vehicle had a loud thud noise coming from the rear and then it spontaneously died due to allegedly a rear motor failure (it's a dual motor Model Y). The Tesla then turned off essentially and locked itself in "park" -- the vehicle could not be taken out of park. Had to get it on a flatbed -- it now sits at the san antonio, texas service center off interstate 10 where allegedly it will be undergoing a diagnosis. But this rear motor failure (according to some of the indicator lights) is unbelievably dangerous inasmuch as the failure occurred without warning and without an opportunity to apply reasonable contingency protocols -- had this happened on a highway or street lane -- the complete unexpected stopping of the vehicle would assuredly be cause for grave damage and serious bodily injury or death.

Engine And Engine Cooling problem #40

The contact owns a 2021 Tesla Model Y. The contact stated that her husband was attempting to drive from a stationary position and depressing the accelerator pedal, the vehicle stalled. The contact stated that no warning light was illuminated. The contact experienced the failure three times. The contact took the vehicle to the local dealer; however, the mechanic was unable to duplicate the failure. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

Engine And Engine Cooling problem #41

We were on the highway the power went out. The car did not have emergency brake . We could have gotten hit. We finally was able to stop on the shoulder with the driver not letting go off his foot pedal to keep the car from moving. We called Tesla and he wasn’t able to restart the car and yet he said the car has lots of power. The back door doesn’t open in an emergency as well.

Engine And Engine Cooling problem #42

My wife and I were driving south on interstate-93 in nh on superbowl Sunday. Traffic was heavy and we were traveling about 65 mph when our 2021 Model Y Tesla started beeping and the following message came on the screen - “pull over safely, vehicle shutting down”. My wife was driving and had just enough time to cross over three lanes to get into the breakdown lane before the car came to a sudden stop. The car did not want to restart. We called the Tesla service center and they were about to order a tow truck but we asked if there was a ‘ctrl/alt/del’ type option. She had us select safety>power off. When our Tesla came back on everything was seemingly normal so the service center said ‘this is very rare’ and that it should be okay to drive. We drove another few miles down 93 and luckily took an early exit ramp because the car shut down again at the bottom of the ramp. My wife and I restarted the car again and managed to limp home in some sort of “power reduced” mode (I. E. Painfully little acceleration). This was potentially a very dangerous situation! luckily we were able to safely get into the breakdown lane but there wasn’t much time to spare.

Engine And Engine Cooling problem #43

Car stops in highway with alarm rear motor disabled. Took it to Tesla they say it is a fluke go head and drive. It happend last month and again multiple times on Feb 13th.

These are additional comments regarding complaints numbers 11406321 and 11406325. Since that time we have had increasingly frequent problems with the phone keys on multiple phones. My suspicion is that the problem I initially reported in case number 11406321 was caused by loss of communication of that phone. I have never been able to re-establish that phone as a phone key, and we are now experiencing problems with multiple phones. I most strongly believe that there is a huge safety issue with the phone keys. Failure of that bluetooth connection would result in the immediate stopping of the vehicle.

Engine And Engine Cooling problem #45

These are additional comments regarding complaints numbers 11406321, 11406325, and 11406632. According to Tesla documentation, loss of phone key communication should give 2 to 3 minutes drivability to get to a safe stop. There was no statement that I found in that documentation to describe how the driver is notified of the failure. Regarding the statement by Tesla personnel that I tried to shift into park while moving, the car does, indeed, prevent that from happening, and gives the driver a loud audible warning. The date of occurrence listed with this submission is approximate.
