Subject: complaint – Tesla north hollywood service visit on Aug 30 date: August 30, 2025 time: around 12:25 pm location: Tesla north hollywood service center advisor: anthony I visited the Tesla service center to report issues with my car: possible seat belt problem in the back seat (my two kids sit there) front and rear windows sometimes stop working I spoke with anthony explained the issues and showed him the video I recorded it clearly show seat belt and windows malfunction . Tesla security cameras will confirm this. He smiled and asked if we wore seat belts. I said yes. He asked me to go to the car, but he didn’t inspect anything. I asked him again to check, and he said there’s nothing he can do unless the problem is happening right now. Then he walked away. This was very disappointing, especially because this is a safety concern involving children. No inspection was done, and my concerns were dismissed.
I have an alert that says front passenger safety restraint system issue and service is required. This is a major safety issue and the Tesla service center says I need to pay $800 to fix it. This is a manufacturer issue and the cost should not be incurred by the vehicle owner. This issue puts my family safety at risk and the light is coming up everytime I drive. I need Tesla to review it and fix this at no cost.
2nd seat belt does not latch and cannot be secured. This poses a serious safety risk while driving.
Seat belt locked up on my son(8yr old) on the back of passager seat. He can't unbuckle. It got tight. I have to drove to fire department ask for help. We had 3 fire fighters helping him to get out of it. They can't. So the fire fighters have to cut the seat belt.
“front passenger safety restraint system fault, service required” rcm2_a636 message keeps appearing on the screen. It happened right after I bought the car, so I took it to Tesla to fix. It went away for a few months and now it’s back again. According to Tesla, this fault, “ based on the airbag system's self-diagnostic checks, a persistent fault has been detected in one or more safety restraint components. This could involve seat belts, impact sensors, occupant sensors, or related safety components. • if the airbag warning indicator stays on, the vehicle should not be driven until inspected. • recurring faults require immediate Tesla service attention. • pre-tensioner or sensor damage can compromise proper seat belt functionality. ” this is a serious safety issue that should be addressed in a recall as it could jeopardize occupant safety of the seat belts or air bags do not work. It also appears to be somewhat widespread and persistent. Tesla also does not appear to have a permanent fix as the first time I took it in they made a comment about one repair already having been done on this before I got the car as a certified used one from Tesla.
While driving, a persistent error appears on the screen with a chime: "front left safety restraint system issue" (error code: rcm2_a128). After researching online, it appears this is a commonly reported issue among Tesla owners and may have serious safety implications. The error code rcm2_a128 indicates a fault in the vehicle’s safety restraint system, specifically related to the seat belt or restraint mechanism on the front left side.
I leased this brand new but demo car with 1850 miles, 2 months old from Tesla seattle. This is a brand new total redesign-2026 Model Y. I was assured that they do multiple point testing before delivery and I had to trust their process. Unlike any other car dealers, I was not allowed to test drive this car before I sign the lease. The car was not in great condition (in addition to the expected wear and tear as a demo car). A) it's charged to only 60% battery rather than the full 80%. B) the stains all over suggest that apparently no one did any finish work as expected. I have pic proofs available upon request. The delivery manager jill manually wiped off some stains when I pointed them out. C) there was a dent of 2-3 inches on the hood which indicates a possible past accident. After driving the car home, serious issues were identified (because no test drive was allowed before I take the lease of the car). 1) the driver's car seatbelt does not lock upon a sudden pull, mimicking the situation in a crash. This is a completely recall issue as it could cause ppl to die, and myself as a mom of a small child included. It locks about 3 out of 10 times. My previous cars- mercedes, Toyota, Hyundai and BMW all lock on each sudden pull! 2) the passenger seatbelt has the same problem. 3) the backseat seatbelts are much better, and locks much more often than driver's and passenger's. It locks about 8 out of 10 times. I went to Tesla lynnwood wa on Jun 6 and the service manager cayla and tech said there is no issues despite that my seatbelt performs so much worse than (1) other two 2026 Model Y, one of which is a newer demo (2) older Model Y, 2025 and prior, locks on each sudden pull as well! (3) all 3 new 2026 Model Ys all have much less reactive seatbelts! another issue I had which makes me needing to have this car replaced under lemon law is, (a)my phone key gets disconnected randomly and I had to use card key all the time (b)my 2nd card key can't open the car at all!.
The panel covering the driver seatbelt popped open & now the seatbelt position cannot be adjusted correctly. It appears as if the track holding the seat belt behind the panel is loose /rattling and the seatbelt system may need to be tightened down. I immediately contacted the dealer/manufacturer & Tesla wants 17 days to simply look at the issue.
Rear left seat buckle won’t latch.
Continued failure of the OCS system after repair by Tesla. This is the system responsible for determining if a passenger is in the passenger seat and without this is a safety issue. As it could affect airbag deployment.
Subject: complaint regarding faulty seat belt on Tesla vehicle (VIN: [xxx] ) dear NHTSA vehicle safety hotline, I am writing to formally report a safety concern regarding my Tesla vehicle, VIN [xxx] . I have experienced issues with the seat belt system, which I believe are related to a known defect. Despite this, my vehicle was not included in the recent recall for faulty seat belts. The problem I am facing is consistent with the conditions described in the recall notice, and I am concerned about the safety implications of continuing to use this defective component. I believe that my vehicle shares the same defect as the recalled units, and I request that NHTSA review this matter to determine whether my VIN should be included in the recall or whether further investigation is warranted. Please advise on the next steps I should take, and whether Tesla should be required to address this issue for my vehicle. Safety is a top priority, and I appreciate your attention to this matter. Thank you for your assistance. Sincerely, [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
The seatbelt does not latch in the buckle.
I am writing to formally file a complaint against Tesla motors regarding a serious safety issue involving defective seat belts in my vehicle. Despite my efforts to address this matter directly with Tesla, their response has been dismissive, prioritizing an out-of-pocket repair fee over a fundamental safety concern. Recently, my [xxx] son discovered that rear driver side seat belt does not latch onto the buckle. When I contacted Tesla to seek assistance in resolving this issue, I was informed I would need to pay out of pocket to replace the buckle because my warranty had expired as of January this year. During the replacement, the Tesla technician pointed out that the other 2 seat belt buckles in the back seat were also defective and would soon not function properly. The Tesla service center in alhambra, CA was notified but they categorized it as a customer-pay repair. An expired warranty should not absolve Tesla of responsibility for a defect in a critical safety component. Seat belts are essential for driver and passenger protection, and any failure in their function could lead to serious injury or fatality. I am deeply concerned that Tesla does not seem to be taking this issue seriously. Instead of addressing the safety risk posed by the defective seat belts, their response has been to demand payment for a repair that should not be the driver's financial burden. Safety should always be the top priority, and I believe Tesla’s handling of this matter is unacceptable. I urge your office to investigate this issue further to ensure that Tesla is held accountable for addressing potential defects in their seat belts. If Tesla is unwilling to resolve this matter appropriately, I believe regulatory intervention is necessary to protect consumers from similar safety risks. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
The seat belt buckle on the driver's seat failed to latch. After several attempts, it appeared to latch but did not make a clicking sound. The driver is unsure whether the seat belt is functioning properly. This is a new car, less than 5 months old.
Rear seatbelt buckle won’t latch.
While driving a front passenger seat occupant classification system (OCS) error appeared. Made appointment February 7, 2025, Tesla replaced front row seat harness assembly as well as the front row occupancy sensor. Invoice # 3000s0012299476 states they did a retrofit service and proceeded with the required update and replaced sensor with the latest version.
Whenever the temperatures drop below 40 degrees, the driver seat belts stops functioning properly. Have to pull several times before the seat belt strap can pull all the way to be clicked on. Once seat belt is locked in place, while driving the seat belt feels like it could choke me. Once temperatures are normal, the seat belt operates normally. Also, the rear center seat belt intermittently will not lock in place. Have already reported these issues to Tesla and waiting for them to schedule the car for service at their service center.
The contact owns a 2023 Tesla Model Y. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, an unknown seat belt message was displayed along with an audible chime while the front driver's side seat belt was securely buckled. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who replaced the front driver's side seat belt buckle, but the failure persisted. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact related the failure to NHTSA campaign number: 24v376000 (seat belts); however, the VIN was not included in the recall. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 76,792.
Several malfunctions: all cameras including rear cameras were disabled, high beams would flash on and off continuously when in auto mode. Front passenger safety restraint failure alert message that eventually turned off. The car continuously has a humming noise even after turned off. Navigation system was not operable.
Received a sign on my car 4 times- front right safety restraint system fault all 4 times I have taken my car to get serviced for them to fix it but still sign returned 4 times total.
The contact owns a 2023 Tesla Model Y. The contact stated that the rear driver's side seat belt failed to latch as needed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was determined that the seat belt buckle needed to be replaced due to damages caused by sand, dust, and debris. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 13,000.
Seat belt latch system failed on rear middle seat during multiple trips in the car. Could buckle the seat when we left the house but after unbuckling at first destination could no longer latch the buckle. Looked on google and this is a known issue with Tesla Model Y cars. Had to wait weeks for a repair appointment to fix the buckle leaving us with an unsafe car. No explanation from Tesla why it failed unsure if other buckles will also fail mid trip. Very concerned about the safety of seat belt latches in the event of an accident.
Rear middle safety belt fails to latch. There is no debris or anything else that would be reasonably considered to make it fail.
Rear passenger seatbelt stopped latching.
The rear passenger side seat belt has been defective for the last 12+ months. It first started with it not registering a person was occupying the seat and would not signal that a seat belt needed to be fastened, such as the other side when both are occupied simultaneously. For the last 6+ months the latch where the seat belt buckles would latch inconsistent. As of yesterday, the seat belt buckle fails to latch completely, rendering it useless and requiring repair.
The seat belt in the back right seat stopped latching after a few months of use. It’s where we buckle my child on his booster seat so I was very concerned that it failed.
Seat belt locking mechanism won’t keep belt locked in. Tesla says it is working properly.
The driver-side rear seatbelt latch has malfunctioned. The spring mechanism appears broken and now will not lock / click the seatbelt in place when inserted. This is a major safety concern that has been documented numerous times specifically for the Model Y. The Tesla mobile service center will come out and diagnose which can take 1-2 weeks for appointment. But when the broke latch is replaced, it will cost +$80 per latch that is replaced.
Vehicle displayed error that service was required for front passenger safety restraint system fault in late September 2024, which persisted for several days. Customer immediately booked first available appointment booked with Tesla service center (3 weeks wait to mid October 2024). At dealership appointment, Tesla service advised it was unable to diagnose any problem because the error code had since cleared from the vehicle computer. Technician refused request for a manual inspection of the vehicle safety system. Technician refused to give paperwork or any form of documentation of the visit, insisting that the problem would be notated in Tesla's "internal service records" should Tesla need to review it at a later date. Subsequently customer received a "service appointment cancelled" email notice from Tesla.
Rear passenger side seatbelt stopped working. It clicks when it is inserted and immediately becomes loose. It does not hold up and creates a serious safety issue. I have seen many people reported this issue online in Model Y Teslas. Nearest appointment Tesla provides is 2 weeks away and the seat cannot be used due to non working seat belt. I have never seen a seal belt malfunctioning in my entire life. It has happened many Tesla owners and these seat belts are not safe.
The back seat latches will not buckle. This just started and had not been an issue until now. The middle and back passenger seat belts do not latch.
Seat belt does not buckle and stay attached. Tesla is saying that this is not a warranty issue.
I am reporting a recurring safety restraint system fault error in my 2020 Tesla Model Y. The issue manifests as an alert on the vehicle's dashboard, warning of a problem with the safety restraint system. This error began appearing at approximately 75000 miles. What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? the safety restraint system in my Tesla Model Y is giving errors. Yes, the component is still installed in the vehicle and is available for inspection upon request. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? this malfunction affects critical safety features, including the airbag system and seatbelt functionality, potentially preventing proper deployment of airbags in an accident. Additionally, when the fault occurs, it disables key driving safety features like autopilot and cruise control, which increases the risk of accidents, particularly in scenarios where these features are expected to function. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? yes, the problem has been reproduced and confirmed by Tesla. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives, or others? inspection by Tesla is scheduled were there any warning lamps, messages, or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? yes, the "front passenger safety restraint system fault" warning appeared on the vehicle's display prior.
My vehicle is less than a year old and still under warranty. The dashboard display is showing the following error message: “front passenger safety restraint system fault”. Tesla informed me that the occupant classification safety system filter module has failed and must be replaced. Tesla has agreed to fix the component under warranty, but they informed me they could not schedule a repair until October 31. It is my understanding that damage to this component could prevent the airbags from functioning properly during an accident, so I am concerned that the car is not safe to operate with passengers. I have asked Tesla repeatedly if the vehicle is safe to operate and they refuse to answer the question.
Have had a service error come up multiple times front passenger safety restraint system fault -.
The third row passenger side seatbelt was restricted and bought in for service 2 weeks after purchasing the vehicle. It was serviced. Problem happened again 1 year later, it was then diagnosed and serviced back to position. 2 years later the same problem persist and restricted the seatbelt. The front passenger seatbelt is now sending alerts and asking for service. The seatbelt belt problem was said to be unknown on the first 2 visits to Tesla. The vehicle is now having the seatbelt system replaced with the current 3rd visit.
One of the rear seat belts will not latch. The buckle will go about 3/4 of the way in, but will not latch completely. It feels like there is something preventing the buckle from inserting compeltely. This puts our family at risk because one of our children cannot buckle their seatbelts when riding in the car. This has been present since we bought the car; it was delivered to us on August 11 and was not functioning upon delivery.
I was involved in car accident 8/7in which vehicle total. After first impact vehicle did not stop felt like kept going accelerating into 3 additional impacts.
The seatbelt latch in the back center seat is not working. I tried cleaning it out and no debris is in there and it still won't latch. Tesla doesn't have availability for a month for this safety issue. I have three young kids.
Front passenger safety restraint system fault service is required error. This just appeared on my screen when my wife sat in the passenger seat.
Seat belt malfunction error was triggered. I reached Tesla service in springfield NJ but can't get an appointment until mid September. Totally unacceptable. . . How am I supposed to use my car?.
2 of the 3 rear seat belts no longer latch.
Warning popped up for faulty passenger seat belt tensioner. On checking, the seat belt tensioner was broken and the whole seat mechanism had come off. This surprised serious safety incident happened without anyone sitting on passenger side or using the seat belt.
Rear passenger seat belt does not latch.
This incident occurred repeatedly during travel from 6/28/2024-7/2/2024, the last time we had a passenger in the seat of interest. The right rear seatbelt kept tightening around the passenger to the point of extreme discomfort and eventually interference with breathing. The only resolution was to unfasten and refasten the seatbelt. The tightening effect occurred when the passenger adjusted her body in the seat or when the car experienced even minor bumps in the road. This repeated in a short cycle, approximately every 5-10 minutes, causing such irritation as to force the passenger to travel without the seatbelt buckled, despite repeated attempts to make the seatbelt operate correctly. This is obviously extremely unsafe--and illegal in many states, and in some cases negating insurance coverage, etc. Although this particular incident occurred in the vehicle noted earlier in this form, it also occurred in our 2015 model s Tesla (now sold) on the right front side and in our currently owned 2018 Tesla model 3, also on the right front side. We reported the original occurrence of the problem (model s) to Tesla several times, and they inspected the seatbelt. There conclusion was always the same, as they stated to us, that the seatbelt was operating correctly, by design. We tired of reporting the issue. I know for a fact that for a correctly operating seatbelt, it may momentarily lock when bumps occur, then the lock releases. The seatbelts are available for inspection on request. There were no warning or error indicators presented in the car except the standard indication when the seatbelt was unfastened (intentionally).
I recently saw there was a recall update issued by Tesla regarding the seatbelt alert. My driver seat does not sense I’m in the seat, and allows me to drive with out a belt on. Even if they send an update to my car, I won’t be alerted. Someone could use the lack of sensor to not remain in their seat. Inflatable doll with sunglasses could take my spot. My question is, is this included in the recall regarding the seat belt notification when not buckled since it’s part of the safety restraint system?.
I have been getting "rcm2_a626" error for "front passenger safety restraint system fault. It comes and goes. Apparently it is a common issues among Tesla owners. When I first filled for the error they quoted $2000 for replacing front passenger seat. The error went away so I canceled the appointment. Then it came back in a random fashion and getting more frequent. This time, in addition to replacing the front passanger seat cushion, "they're retrofitting "sbr in OCS equipped front passenger seat. " I'm not sure what that means. If this is a common issue, there must be something to do with manufacturer qc.
Middle seatbelt buckle fails to latch. Normal use, just stopped working.
Rcm2_a636 front passenger safety restraint system fault.
Front passenger safety restraint system fault? there have been hundreds of people if not thousands who are reporting this common issue on various forms online and its a very common issue.
Rear seat seatbelt (behind driver) doesn't latch.
2 of 3 backseat seatbelts suddenly stopped latching, middle seat, and driver side rear seat. These are the seatbelts we use the least in this vehicle. Yes, the dealer replaced the 2 failed seatbelts, but would not replace all seatbelts in the vehicle. The vehicle was only inspected and fixed by Tesla. No, there were no warnings. This is especially concerning since we use a seatbelt to secure a car seat in the backseat.
What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? >>> the passenger detection hardware underneath the front passenger seat had faulty wiring. The repaired hardware completed by Tesla this week is available for inspection upon request. I did take amateur photos of my seat hardware before-and-after repair. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? >>> my passenger's airbag could randomly fail in the middle of a drive. Anywhere from 10 seconds to 10 minutes while driving with a damp passenger in the front passenger seat (e. G. , a 100 lb. Person after swim practice), a red airbag indicator will assert with error code rcm2_a636 ("front passenger safety restraint system fault"). The indicator would stay asserted for days, then start toggling on-and-off randomly. According to Tesla Model Y documentation, "if the airbag system detects a fault in any of the previously mentioned components, the airbag warning indicator stays on. In this case contact Tesla service immediately. Do not drive the vehicle until the airbag system is inspected by Tesla. . Read more...
I’ve received repeated errors of front right safety restraint system needs service with an indication of the airbags being disabled. Tesla has attempted to fix this on two occasions by replacing various wiring and seat belt parts, but the problem returns each time.
Left rear seatbelt is not locking.
The Tesla displays passenger restraint system fault occasionally. The vehicle goes into turtle mode and the screen goes in park graphics. The car still drives slowly but doesn’t show any vehicle info such as speed. Took it into Tesla service center last month and the said that it was because of a power frunk accessory. This is a common problem. Tons of reddit post and Tesla forums.
Rear seatbelt buckle keeps failing and does not latch. These were replaced by Tesla within the last 6 months and they failed again and refused to cover them under warranty.
Rear driver side seat belt won’t latch. Passenger cannot properly fasten seatbelt.
Front passenger safety restraint system fault. This is 3rd time this system warning has come up. The previous 2 fixes were under warrantee (the last one was Feb 2023), the new one is not and estimated at $1100 fix.
Passenger rear seat seatbelt stopped working abruptly. Buckle will not click to secure.
Front passenger safety restraint system fault?, error message appeared. Tesla is asking for ~$1500 to fix a sensor that would prevent air bag from deploying. Seems like a safety issue that should be addressed. The message appears whenever there is someone/some thing in front passenger seat. Tesla has inspected. I believe it happened after a minor accident in a parking lot, but Tesla and the repair shop can not prove that it did, so insurance will not correlate to the accident.
Seatbelt mechanism stopped latching and would not buckle. This puts everyone in the car in a very unsafe situation. Only way to request help is through Tesla app but no response from their support team. My seatbelt latch mechanism is still broken.
Car seat belt sign is on when there is no one sitting in passenger seat .
The car was going at the speed limit or maybe 5-9 miles over speed limit when brakes were pumped to stop car as there was stop and go traffic on a bridge in bay area (CA). The car had quite a distance from the car in front of it. Despite brakes being applied, the car seemed to accelerate and brakes had to be applied hard. However, the car did not stop until it hit the Honda in front of it. As the driver of the telsa at the time of the accident, it seems as though car was accelerating despite brakes being applied. A huge sound was heard by me the driver and then the driver eat belt became malfunctioned and the car would not restart. After a few minutes, the car restarted but now the dash board states service needed and I could no longer fasten the seat belt. The front of the car appeared to have minimal bumper damage but the seat has not worked since the accident.
Its a known issue affecting many model 3 and Model Ys front passenger safety restraint system fault. It's all over the Tesla message boards. It just happened to my vehicle.
The seat belt doesn't work. It buckles in but doesn't lock.

Every few months, my car receives a warning stating "front passenger safety restraint system fault". This error noted that there are issues related to checking the front passenger seatbelt/airbag status, and that they may not work as expected. Tesla has tried to repair this 4 times on my car already, but the error keeps coming back after a few months. This is now the 5th time this is happening in my car over the 3 years I've owned it. The date/mileage listed is when this issue first started occuring.
On 7/18/2023 - my car reported the following: replace occupant classification system (OCS) of front passenger seat. In essence the seat sensor on the car malfunctioned and needed to be replaced. Tesla charged me $466. 29 to replace this and said that this was not under warranty, even though this was a safety issue on their part.
Front passenger safety restraint system fault intermittently appears and disappears. Might be defect of manufacture of harness squezed. Lots of users are complaining about said and manufacture wants $500 to repair what seems to be a recall. Https://teslamotorsclub. One of the seat-belt in the rear seat stopped clicking into the buckle and as a result the seat belt was unusable. The seat-belt latch plate would slide into the buckle, but wouldn't click and stay in there. Since this happened on a long road trip, it put one of the passenger at risk all through the road trip as they could not use the seat belt during the trip back home. Tesla technician is expected to come in next few days to inspect it and fix the seat buckle.
Rear seat belts do not latch. The male portion of the seatbelt will be able to go in fully, but there's no click or latch to prevent it from coming back out. This is a huge safety issue, but Tesla has refused to service it. There are no warning lamps or messages.
Passenger side rear seatbelt has a faulty latch. Latch will disengage spontaneously. Passenger rear seat belt disengaged. Child safety car seat tipped over. Child encountered minor injuries.
The contact owns a 2023 Tesla Model Y. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked with the car seat installed, the technician pulled on the seat belt and the rear passenger’s side seat belt buckle fractured. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 3,000.
On April 10th I received a notification from the car of a "front passenger safety restraint system fault" and was asked to request service, which I did right away. Thus far I have been unable to receive any information from Tesla on this matter and they have not allowed me to service the car. This seems like a safety hazard from the description and I would hope Tesla would both share more information on this issue and help car owners who have received the warning. Right now it's unclear if the car is safe to drive.
Rear passenger middle seat buckle was defective- just replaced by Tesla. Seatbelt buckle was stuck and after unlatching, was unable to get it back in; there was a 4 year old in a booster seat at the time of incident. Left rear passenger seatbelt may have also unlatched by itself last week while front facing booster seat was strapped in using the seatbelt. Had to reinstall car seat with latch, despite child exceeding 40lb. Limit for latch use (diono 3xrt).
Seat belts are hitting the door and seat. Model y car seat belts are not installed properly. As per Tesla regenerative braking supposed stop the car but car is rolling. As per Tesla tech regenerative doesn’t work until the battery is heated up. They never provided this to customers and this could result in accidents for people who rely on regenerative braking.
Since I took delivery of this vehicle on 11/26/2022 ,I had a message displayed on the screen for a faulty passenger seat belt that require a service appointment . I called and requested a service appointment and they gave me one in Dec then cancelled it then gave me on in early Jan and cancelled it then late Jan and they mentioned it due to the lack of parts and I dont feel safe to drive this car with my wife and kids with this faulty seat belt but yet they were pushing me to take delivery and [it seems they were aware of the problem and once I took delivery this message popped up and now I end up with unsafe car that they keep postponing fixing because they don't have the parts just because they want to meet their delivery numbers!!!!.
This concerns the front seat belts in the car. I am just over five feet tall. Even with the seatbelt adjusted to the lowest position on the door post, the anchor point for the shoulder portion is six inches above my shoulder. This occurs on both sides of the vehicle, driver and passenger front seats. The seat belt runs across the left side of my neck when in the driver's seat, with the seat appropriately adjusted for my stature. If I raise the seat any higher I won't be able to reach the accelerator and brake pedals. Anyone who isn't tall would have this problem in the car. I'm concerned for my safety in a possible vehicle crash. I have recently reported this to Tesla motors. No warning lights or messages are given in the vehicle for this problem.
Hi, I just read the news about NHTSA on model x pretensioner recall and found my Model Y may have the same issue. The seatbelt hold on the driver's seat is extended a lot compared to the passages seat.
The contact owns a 2020 Tesla Model Y. The contact stated that while driving approximately 30 mph the driver lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a stationary dumpster. During the crash the front driver side airbag did not deploy and the front driver side seat belt malfunctioned and failed to secure the driver in place. As a result of the failures the contact sustained and injured nose and facial bruises after making contact with the steering wheel, a fractured rib, and right elbow injury along with torso bruises. No police report was taken. The vehicle was towed away. Medical treatment was later provided. The cause of the failures were not determined. The manufacturer and local dealer were not notified of the incident. The failure mileage was 22,000.
My Model Y 2nd row seats are not latching. I keep getting warning ?? alerts. My vehicle been in Tesla service center posesiones since July,2022. Currently still with Tesla service for repair.
My Tesla provided an in car warning message on June 28 stating that the “front passenger safety restraint system fault” exists. I immediately created a service request (the same day) and included pictures of the fault message. On July 6th, the Tesla service team stated that the appointment required a service center visit (which is not an option when making the appointment originally) and scheduled the appointment for July 25. On July 25, I took the car into the service center. A day later, Tesla confirmed an issue with the OCS module that required a new front passenger seat be installed. Tesla could not provide a date the new seat would be available and let me drive off with the vehicle. I made a follow up appointment on August 16th. On the day of the appointment, the Tesla service team confirmed that the replacement seat was not yet available and they still did not know when it would be. It has now been almost two months since the original alert and despite my proactive efforts, Tesla cannot tell me when this serious safety issue with my vehicle will be repaired. Tesla is allowing its customers to continue to drive vehicles with critical safety issues without any urgency in the repair.

2 weeks back one of the rear passenger seat belts stopped latching to the seat buckle. I filed a service request with Tesla and scheduled a service appointment. They have rescheduled the appointment twice already and they haven't addressed the issue as the necessary parts are not yet available. I don't understand how to safely use the car with children if the seat belts are not working.
A few weeks after I bought my car in early June 2020 I got an error on my screen that said the passenger safety restraint system had failed. It took Tesla several weeks to send a mobile technician to my house to look at the error, they kept rescheduling the appointment. By the time they showed up the error had gone away on its own. I felt very unsafe having any passenger in my car during the first few weeks of having my car. When the mobile tech finally looked at it on July 1st 2020, he advised me to take it in to the service center because he didn't have the parts or tools required to diagnose it further. I sent Tesla several text messages to 408 560 5674 asking to have my seatbelt module replaced ASAP, indicating the error as a passenger seatbelt restraint system failure. I also sent the santa clara service center an email July 2nd the day after the mobile tech visited. The earliest appointment they'd let me schedule was a almost a month out, on July 29th. - my passenger restraint system failed on my new Model Y. I had a mobile tech come look at it and he told me I need to take it to the dealer. I made an appointment and the earliest I can get you to fix it is July 29th? this is unacceptable for a safety issue. Please find some time to get me in sooner or I will have to get the ntsb involved. - when santa clara finally looked at it in 2020, they told me the mobile technician left no notes about the issue and that too much time had passed to diagnose the issue because the logs were deleted. I was pretty upset but they convinced me to take it home and wait for the issue to reproduce itself again. Finally this past week it happened again on March 28th I was driving down to santa barbara from san jose and this time safety restraint failure popped up in the middle of my drive. They said they fixed it but this car is dangerous and I don't feel safe in it.
