Two problems related to front seat belt retractor have been reported for the 1996 Toyota 4Runner. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Seatbelt would not release. Repeated attempts were unsuccessful. Had to cut belt to release 12 year old daughter who was in pain due to extreme tightness of belt.
Front seat belts would not retract due to being ripped.
