Carrier/rack problems of the 2004 Toyota 4Runner

Dashboard single line crack from driver's side continuous through halfway into the passenger's side.

The frame on my 2004 Toyota is very rusty. It is completely cracked through near the front passenger suspension. My mechanic has warned me not to drive the vehicle anymore. See pics.

There is a crack in frame on passenger side never in accident . The rust corrosion is horrible almost cracked all the way on drivers side ,front hooks gone from rust.

Rust on the frame including the rear bumper, crack in the dashboard from drivers side over to the center of car. Drivers seat excessive movement at attachment between seat back and base on external portion of seat. The vehicle was parked at various times when inspected. Repainted rims that paint had flaked and peeled.

Was there a recall or warranty enhancement on 4runners with cracked dashboards??? my mother owns a 2004 4runner (VIN #jtezt14r640014208) and we just learned that there was a warranty enhancement/recall that covered the replacement of this item however, she never received any notification in the mail advising of such.

Upon pre-inspection of my personal vehicle for purchase I found that both rear corners of the frame were totally rotted out. Upon further inspection, after removal of the rear bumper, it turned out that the rust extended almost entirely through the corners of the frame. There was also a major hole in the frame where the factory welds were conjoining pieces of the frame right where the exhaust bracket mounts to the right hand side of the interior facing of the frame. On the front end of the vehicle there was a massive rust hole extending along the right front factory welds connecting the right front body mount to the frame. The rear rotted corners of the frame underneath the bumper and right front body mount were repaired at my father's automotive service station by my dad who has more than 50 years of experience. With a vermont state inspection license it was concerning to him to see the rotting and rusting centralized around the factory welds, and occurring where the body of the vehicle is mounted to the frame and the rear bumper is preventing serious injury from impact due to a potential collision.

Toyota dashboard cracking / melting after Toyota extended warranty ze6 closed out. This needs to be a recall I have seen dashboards that have melted and cause window glare. Which affects drives ability to see.

The dashboard has been melting and cracking. Its gets sticky, extremely shiny and gooy during hot weather and caused a reflection of the shiny dashboard on the windshield while driving, in atlanta georgia.

Driving down road @40 mph, all of a sudden felt like driving ice. Immediately let off gas pedal to remain in control of vehicle. Above 35 mph, can barely stay in control. Thankfully close to home, crawled home under 25 mph. Thank god I wasn't driving on the highway @ 70mph. At highway speeds I certainly don't think I would have been able to stay in control, & would have been the cause of a major possibly deadly accident. I brought it to a reputable repair shop, & was told the rear left control arm & bracket rotted off the frame. Told me it was unsafe to drive & unrepairable, because the frame is too rotted from rust. He also told me it is unsafe to drive. It is the only vehicle I own, I need to drive to work to provide for my family. I am left with vehicle that I can't drive or repair. Yesterday kelly's book value was $12, 000. Today its value is 0. Toyota told me there is no recall so its my problem. I feel betrayed! I've read many complaints online about rotted Toyota 4runner frames. There's a recall on 04 tundra's for rotted frames, which were manufactured with the same metal & technique's as the 4runner. So why no recall for 4runner's? not enough complaints! Toyota sells many more trucks than SUV's in USA. I can't believe Toyota & the NHTSA can & will allow these unsafe vehicle's to drive through our neighborhoods knowing the risk they pose to innocent people. I gave Toyota alot of my hard earned money on what I thought was a quality vehicle. I checked out my frame today, & can easily put my finger thru frame in many places. It is unacceptable to allow Toyota to leave its customers left with a worthless vehicle without any responsibility for thier inferior product. I urged the NHTSA to open a large scale investigation into the quality or lack there off in 2004 Toyota 4runner frames. I am a hard working honest american, I feel wronged by Toyota! its not right!!.

The dash board of the vehicle has cracked from one side to the other with multiple cracks in the cover over the passenger air bag. I am concerned whether this will affect the performance of the passenger air bag if it should need to deploy.

Dash board crack recall 2 years all dealer says is they don't have the parts.

Dashboard has started cracking on passenger side. Now it has spread all across the dash to the driver side. I'm worried the airbags may deploy. This truck is in pristine condition and kept in a garage when home and under covered parking at work. I also have a 2003 tundra with more miles and dashboard is fine. The tundra is not parked covered. My mother has a 1997 Toyota corolla. Parked in the sun all day in texas. Dashboard is fine. This has to be a Toyota quality issue on 2003 and 2004 4-runners. Online these are the year models that seem to have this issue.

My dashboard is melting and cracking.

Excessive rust and corrosion to the point where my skid plate came off and transmission fluid lines broke apart, leading to major leak and fix - luckily it came off in driveway and not on highway where someone could have been significantly injured. Shocks have holes in them from rust and corrosion, as do support bars and frame. Can break off pieces of the frame in my hand without effort. Concerned that frame could crack, support components could fail while driving because of corrosion. Other Toyota models have been recalled for rust, using the same components but assembled in different factories than the 4runner and land cruiser models, to my understanding. This is a safety issue that Toyota must address before anyone is seriously injured.

Dashboard is riddled with cracks all over. Many of the cracks follow along the same lines as other owners who have posted pics of their dashboard online. My other car from a similar year, had the same issue and that manufacturer replaced it with a goodwill repair, probably to avoid a full recall. It seems to be a common issue for multiple manufacturers for cars in the early to mid 2000s.

The dashboard on my Toyota is cracking real bad. It gets worse each year. I have talked to several people with 4 runners and they are having the same problem as well. I am very concerned about the safety of my airbags.

I have a problem with a dash of 4runner 2004 is cracked slowly until you are full. Toyota to report on the problem that said no recall. And vale $ 840. 00. All the bus dyed the same problem.

I have a Toyota tacoma 4 door 4 cly pick up. . I was on the internet and just notice a recall about brakes,,is my truck included in this recall? and another I have never got any letter or anything telling me about any recalls on my truck and I see here there has been recall for front ball joints and crack frames ,,,seat belt problems. . I was in shock. . So what do I do can they still fix any problems if any and check my truck. . Thank you.
