1 Driveshaft problem

Failure Date: 11/27/2015

The contact owns a 2005 Toyota 4runner. When the vehicle came to a complete stop, there was a two second delay before the vehicle jolted. The contact stated that it felt as though someone had rear-ended the vehicle. The contact stated that the failure occurred intermittently and became progressively worse over time. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the driveshaft was lubricated; however, the failure recurred. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 150,000.

2 Driveshaft problem

Failure Date: 10/17/2007

In general, when I pull up to a stop I sometimes feel a clunk. Then, when I start again, it feels like the brake release is delayed with another clunk. There's a few Lexus gx470 owners (same engine and drivetrain as 4runner) that are complaining at other sites. I've been told the two piece driveshaft gets air compressed inside, and when the compression leaks out, you get the clunk. Lexus is apparently fixing the problem.
