Hatchback/liftgate Lock problem #1

: the contact stated when the rear lift gate was opened the automatic open/close mechanism failed and closed on the contact's right hand. The 4th and 5th digits of the ring finger and pinky were crushed and the 5th digit of the pinky of the right hand was hyperextended and may have been dislocated. There was possible nerve damage to the fingers and swelling to the right arm. The contact went to the emergency room. A photo and x-rays were taken. The manufacturer was notified.

Trunk Lid Lock problem #2

The contact owns a 2006 Toyota 4runner. The contact stated that the trunk failed to remain closed. The dealer stated that the latch mechanism was completely rusted and needed to be replaced. In addition, there was extensive rust under the hood, which prevented the installation of the two bolts to secure the bug visor on the hood. The front calipers were rusted and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 44,000.
