1 Engine Exhaust System problem

Failure Date: 01/01/2008

Vehicle gives off horrible sulfur smell when accelerating quickly and sometimes even when slowly gaining speed after stop and go traffic on a highway. The dealership where I took it said that this is a known problem and there isn't anything they can do about it. Why do other vehicle's I own not do the same thing with the same gas?.

2 Engine Exhaust System problem

Failure Date: 10/11/2007

When accelerating anything over babying it the vehicle's exhaust emits a strong sulfur (rotten eggs) odor. Whether the windows are up or down the vehicle is filled with the awful stench. With the windows down it is a much stronger unpleasant odor. P. S. The incident date that I first noticed this was 10 - 11 - 2008, but it will only let me go up to 2007 on the selection. I purchased the vehicle the day before. The vehicle is also a 2008 model, which is also not an option to select.

3 Engine Exhaust System problem

Failure Date: 06/14/2007

Strong sulfur smell when under acceleration.

4 Engine Exhaust System problem

Failure Date: 04/10/2007

Excessive sulfur/ammonia smell in the cabin during heavy acceleration. Reported issue to Toyota dealer (puente hills Toyota) during service. Dealer stated no TSB's issued for this problem yet, however, stated that this is a known problem with earlier models of Toyota 4 runners. Since Toyota had yet to issue a TSB for this model year, they could not do anything about it.
