Carry Handle, Shell, Base problem

The rotation mechanism of the cybex sirona s convertible car seat (2021 model, indigo blue) failed. The seat became locked in position and could no longer be rotated, adjusted, or uninstalled. The seat was purchased in xxx as an unused item from goodbuy gear and had been installed in our vehicle for approximately three years with no crash and no known misuse. Yes, the seat has been retained and is available for inspection upon request. No child was injured. However, once the rotation mechanism failed, the seat could not be removed from the vehicle. We were not able to use it anymore either as it was stuck in an unusable position. A child restraint that is fixed in place and cannot be uninstalled poses a risk if it needs to be replaced after a crash, inspected, or repositioned, and it could slow efforts to quickly extricate a child in an emergency. The seat has not been inspected by the manufacturer, police, or an insurance representative. It was looked at by firefighters but they concluded they could not do anything to remove it. It was removed from the vehicle by a professional mechanic, [xxx]. I contacted cybex customer service, who stated they could not provide assistance because the warranty had expired and the seat was purchased from a third-party seller. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
