03/04/2019- I was driving down a dry road in santa fe, new mexico traveling at approximately 35 to 40 mph. A gradual turn, and I stress gradual, came up and upon turning the wheel to take the slight curb the vsc/ anti slip braking kicked in and the computer sensed I lost controlled at which point it took over and locked the brakes up. This action taken by the computer took away all of my control, straightened my car out sending me off the road into a dried up river bed totalling my truck completely. Air bags deployed, front end destroyed, thank god I wasnt seriously injured, but trust me when I say it couldve been much much worse. This problem needs to be addressed. Ive read multiple, almost identical stories involving the same problem with the same year. This is dangerous, unpredictable and has left me vehicleless in a financial bind. I will also mention this wasnt the first time this happened unwarranted. This just happened to be the first time it caused serious issues.
After starting my vehicle the abs and stability control lights came on and never went off. My anti lock braking and traction control do not work now. I just found out Toyota is recalling several models from 2012 and 2013 for the same problem and my vehicle is not listed. Do I have to have an accident or injury before it is added to the recall??? sounds like a lawsuit to me. I have a 2010 4runner.
I have brakes hydraulic problem on my 2010 4runner, I brought to dealer 3 times in the past but they insisted there was no issues with the brake system. The brake paddle when depressed had hissing sound, seemed like there was air leaks somewhere. . When pressed down the brake paddle, the vehicle would accelerate a bit then the brakes hydraulic applied. It is very scary when I was on freeway with 70-80 mph. If you have resolve the problem. . With the engine turns off, I still hear the hissing sound every single time I step on the brake paddle. And the service adviser in dealer said its normal??? and the brakes took couple miliseconds to response when brake paddle compress???.
The contact owns a 2010 Toyota 4runner. The contact stated the brake pedal felt loose and rattled whenever he applied the brakes. During the failure, the contact would also hear an abnormal hissing noise. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer on numerous occasions where the contact was told the vehicle was operating as intended. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure continued. The failure mileage was 100 and the current mileage was 9,000.
Toyota rav4 2010 - on stop and go traffic I was going about 5 mph and I looked down for a second and rear ended another car. Before I hit the car I slammed on my brakes and based on my many years of driving experience (12+) I believe the car should have stopped but it did not. The incident was very minor. My car has a few scratches that may go away with just soap and water. The other car did not have any damage. I did have neck pain all week and I still have it on and off. After the incident I tried, on safe conditions, to go up to 20 mph and brake suddenly and noticed that the car looses braking power as you do this. The brakes full power is felt mid press (as they are half way down) but as they are pressed all the way in they loose power. I had noticed a loud sound when I used my hand brake after putting the car in park. The car also moves about an inch or two after I put the car in park and depress the brake pedal. I called the dealer about the hand brake issue and they said it was normal as the gear was going into place. I didn't think to much of it but after my car crash incident I think that there may be a problem with the brakes.
This complaint concerns the new 2010 Toyota 4runner. There is an issue with the braking system and handling for this vehicle. Upon depressing the brakes, the pedal travels a considerable distance sounds squeaky and notchy and delays in stopping. The anti-lock brakes do not interact quickly and often times engaged at the very end of the brake distance and creates a very uncomfortable and unsettling feeling. The height clearance is also a concern because when cross winds hit the vehicle it creates a very unsettling feeling and causes the vehicle to sway and get under the vehicle making prone to loss control. That wind does not have to be excessive; the mildest of winds will cause a disruption. Several measures have been taken to have a local Toyota dealership review and address the issue and they have come back and stated that it operates according to specifications. No one other than Toyota knows of those specifications and they will not disclose them until enough people highlight this issue by complaining. To add further insult to injury, Toyota has placed an administrative hold on any repairs unless they sanction it. In one of the latest uses, I had a deer cross my path and I tried to stop and the vehicle kept moving along and the brakes grabbed after 12 feet. I missed the deer but I was forced to relive the issue of how faulty the brakes are for this vehicle. It reinforced the issues with the braking system. We need for Toyota to own up to this hidden defect. The electrical systems in these vehicles seem to control every operating aspect of the vehicle and that appears at issue as well.
