Purchased a replacement front wheel hub a bearing from a seller on ebay. The component is advertised and labeled as koyo, the name on the original bearing. After a month the part failed. Learned then that the part is a counterfeit. The same counterfeit item is for sale by several sellers on ebay. This is a critical part and failure could cause severe vehicle damage and an accident endangering lives of passengers in the vehicle and other highway users. Reported to ebay but the items are still being sold.
On this vehicle's very first tire rotation, at a reputable tire shop, three lug studs broke off. If you run a net search, you will see a number of similar reports where Toyota 2010 and newer (5th generation) 4runners have lug stud problems--including at early mileage.
Steering wheel started jerking abnormally in the am or after it has not been driven for a while. Now it can happen at any time but not all the time and it occurs between 60 and 70 mph. I have taken it to the dealer eight times. They replaced the tires but it didn't correct the issue. I have been told Toyota is aware but they have not been advised me of that. Toyota is taking care of the Lexus and the GX models first.
