I have owned my vehicle since 2017 and since then I have had to change the locks over 10 times. This has been ongoing since purchasing my car. Some were originally covered with the warranty but since it expired, I have paid dealerships out of pocket. I have a lock give out almost yearly. Right now my car has 3 of the 4 door locks not working and the 4th just started acting up as well. I have checked for recalls because it doesn't make sense that they would go out yearly and the dealerships have even told me there should be recalls because my year 4runner always has lock issues. My safety concern is my locks either have to stay unlocked or I risk locking my car completely and it not opening because the key will not unlock it. I have tried contacting Toyota and they have stated they cannot help so I am wanting to reach out to see if there is anything that can be done or if you can point me in the right direction on who I can reach out to . Thank you.

The door locks on front-right and rear-left sides are malfunctioning. The dealer at bell Toyota indicates that there are bad actuators. Considering that the front-right and rear-left locks are not operable, I'm very concerned about the ability to escape the vehicle in an emergency situation. Also, the front-right and rear-left doors are sparingly utilized indicating that there is a quality issue associated with the malfunction.

All four of my door locks have stopped working with the automatic system. Each required a new lock actuator to be installed on each door. The failures occurred at 26,598 (7/16/04) - front driver, 50,327 (6/10/05) - rear right, 67,878 (12/30/05) - front right, 81,435 (05/2006) - rear driver. If a user does not notice the failure, the potential exists for children in the backseat to open the door - as the driver believes that the door is locked, but it is not.
Salvaged cars and cars that were involved in accidents are being passed off as clean preowned safe cars. The carfax states one thing but the mechanics are finding the lies and the attempted cover ups. Major world located at 43-40 northern blvd. Long island city NY. Showed me a beautiful carfax that did not tell the truth. I found out later after I paid a mobile mechanic 191. 00 to check the car out. The manager admitted to the mechanic that the car was a salvage car and was in an accident. If I knew anything about an accident, I would have automatically passed this SUV (2000 Toyota 4-runner) up. I would not have hired a mechanic. I am on disability and live on a fixed income. I passed up my ambulette service at their suggestion to wait for the mechanics arrival. They promised to pay my cab fare home. They lied. Something needs to be done about this dealership. I am out of $201. 00 because of their lies. How many people are being ripped off even worse than me. At least I had the common sense to get the car checked out before buying. Most folks don't. I learned a valuable lesson. Stay away from major world auto.
