Dashboard cracking in two places. Our 2006 dashboard is cracking in two places, area by drivers door and in the place where the passenger air bag is located. Our 2008 did the same thing and Toyota replaced the whole dsah but our 2006 is too old to be covered. We're concerned that once the crack goes all the way through the compartmnt where the sir bag is that it will bust open hit the passenger in the face.
Dash board is cracking.
I have called Toyota in houston, TX several times about my melting and cracking dashboard. I was told this was normal wear and tear. My car is garaged, and only out for short amounts of driving time. On December 31, 2014, I saw on the national nbc news that there is a recall for the dashboard problems. I called Toyota this morning, Jan. 2, 2015, and was told they know nothing about a recall. I must have a letter for them to due recall work. I'd like to file this complaint, hoping my car, make and model will be added so that I receive a recall notice. Thank you.
My car has always been kept in the garage, except for being at work. I have cracks all over the passengers side airbags. I was in the hospital getting a lung transplant when the extended service letter came out offering to replace it. I didn't drive for two years because of illness. When I went to the Toyota dealer he said I missed the deadline by a week. He said he had the parts and would like to do it but would need an ok from Toyota corporate . I called Toyota and they said there is nothing they can do. If there is a class action lawsuit on this I would like to join. . I did nothing to cause this, it is a manufacturer defect and a safety hazard. I f the airbags deploy, it could kill someone.
Dashboard cracked from one side to the other, cracked all up by the instrument board, down by the compartment. Just appeared one day. Car in garaged. Toyota dealer acknowledge it that they are having a problem with quite a few vehicles. Toyota wants me to pay $500 towards replacing the dash. I feel it is a defect, obviously, on their part and should not have to pay to have it replaced. Can it be a safety hazard? maybe if it is cracked around where the dash air bag is.
Cracks all across dashboard and glovebox. Afraid it might affect air bag deployment.
Dash board and air bag front area n thee front began to crack. Car has never been housed outside a garage and I can see where the material should begin to crack. It has been properly moist and clean. Now it is extending thru the front area even more. I have the same problem with a Toyota 2004 solara it started about the same time. Same housing and care applies here too. The 2004 model had about 50000 when it atarted to crack the material.
Cracks in the dash board that keep getting bigger . Up to one year to replace. Un safe to wait that long.
The car has always been garaged and cracks in the dashboard are showing everywhere. The are getting more numerous and wide.
Vehicle dashboard cracked in several places where air bags deploy. Concerned this is a safety issue as air bag will/will not deploy as intended. Many Toyota Avalon owners have complained on the internet with the same problem. Contacted Toyota corporate and local dealer who advised not a warranty item or subject to recall.
The dashboard has become very shiny, sticky, and cracked due to high heat and humidity living in the southeast us. When the sun hits the dashboard, it creates a reflection that blocks the view of the driver. That is my concern for safety. I have researched and found millions of other owners are affected by this same issue. Toyota needs to stick by their claim to care about the safety of their customers and remedy this issue.
Dashboard developed a small crack which is now about 36" long. Toyota will not do anything about it. They will replace the dash for $2000+. There are hundreds of similar complaints on the same vehicle online.
