Instrument cover and glove box has turned sticky and very reflective. Sun can reflect up to windshield and nearly complete obscure visibility. Toyota replaced many on their own but now will not honor the recall.
Melting dashboard. This should have been a recall from the get-go. Poses a glare hazard when driving on a bright day.
The rear sunshade went up on it's own when I started my car and now it will not go down. My car makes a loud grinding noise when put in reverse. This seems to be a common problem for many years with the Toyota Avalon limited with many complaints on line. It is a safety hazard when backing up or driving at night. This is not an easy fix and typically costs well over $1,000 to repair.
Sun roof glass blew up and shattered while I was driving on the interstate.
My dashboard is melting and peeling. I am previous owner of a Toyota that I owned for 16 years and never experienced this issue. Also my airbag light is coming on.
In June 2008, I bought a new 2007 Toyota Avalon at a local Toyota dealership, harr Toyota at 100 gold star blvd, worcester, MA 01606. I had been enjoying driving the car for the past 6 years and have always thought that the next vehicle for my family will be another Toyota Avalon. I liked it smooth drive, number of features, plenty of space and the most the reliability. All maintenance on the vehicle has been performed as required and I thought that as long as I take good care of it, I could drive it for many more years. Unfortunately, one week ago, when my family and I were traveling on the state highway, I-90, the car¿s speed dropped from about 67 mph to 0 in a matter of seconds. The vehicle became unresponsive causing me a tremendous amount of stress. I must have been born under a ¿lucky star because I was able to move to the break down lane without causing what could have been a major accident. I am sure that anyone that has had their loved ones at a great risk would understand my feelings. We received help from the state police in terms of towing the car to the nearest Toyota dealership, bernardi Toyota at 1626 worcester rd, framingham, MA. The problem with a car was identified as failure of the transmission system and the car was repaired at a cost of $5,100. Given the fact that the car has only 57,000 miles on it (minimal mileage when compare to the anticipated longevity and reliability of Toyota) and one year past 5-year warranty (2008-2014) makes me extremely disappointed. I would appreciate you to strongly consider reimbursing me for the substantial cost of the repairs that were caused by what deemed a substandard original transmission in my vehicle. I look forward to your reply. Please contact me at the e-mail addressor by phone. Sincerely, alla demihovsky.
Tire pressure monitoring system have never worked properly. Continually has faults and errors. Local tire installation companies cannot input id's and reset system.
The dashboard on my 07 Toyota Avalon has become sticky, all crached up and emittes a sticky chemical that creates a blinding glare during daytime hrs. Especially when its sunny outside! I went to my local dealer and without even looking at the car he said that his dealership would split the cost with me of about $800 each to replace the dashboard. He said that Toyota has been aware of the problem for some time but refuses to acknoledge that the subcontractor that made the dashboards used a faulty material and since the warrantee has expired, they were not willing to do anything about it. I bought the top of the line Avalon with all the bells and whistles new, garage kept it, washed and waxed it myself and now this. I always thought that Toyota was a reliable company and would stand behind their products, but found out just the opposite. Not only the Avalon but the camry, corolla and the Lexus 350 which is made by Toyota. I have searched the web extensively and there seems to be no 'one' answer. Some dealers are replacing the dash, some are offering to cover materials and some only offering 20% discounts. Can you contact me or refer me to the proper department to submit a claim for a replacement. As this is clearly a Toyota 'product related' problem, I would expect that Toyota would have a resolution to fix/replace the dash as needed! since I'm retired and on a fixed income, paying out of pocket for Toyotas faulty, dangerous material is not an option, I'll make sure that anyone that I know, and with all the associations that I belong to there are plenty of people, know that Toyota has dropped the ball on this one! this has become a very serious safety hazard with all the glare that it's causing. Toyota had better hope that neither my wife or I have a serious car accident due to their mishandeling of all the complaints and turning a deaf ear to the loyal Toyota owners!.
We have had three incidents in the past with our Toyota Avalon. . . . All at traffic light approaches. The first resulted in our hitting the truck in front of us. There was no damage nor injuries so both parties left satisfied. The second occurred at a traffic light a few minutes later at which time my husband got the vehicle under control. The third occurred several weeks later near our home. My husband managed to get the car under control by swerving into a drive nearby by. It was at a traffic light also. Thought it was my husbands driving (ha)) because he seems to be accelerating instead of braking but he was assuring me he was braking.
On March 19, 2008, my step-son was killed in tampa, florida while driving his 2007 Toyota Avalon. He had just dropped my sister-in-law off at the airport and was travelling on the courtney campbell parkway when the car accelerated. He exited onto a service road, posted at 15 mph, at a high rate of speed, crashing through a guardrail and plunging into tampa bay. He did not get out of the vehicle. Witnesses say he did not appear to brake before hitting the guardrail. Nobody could determine at the time why the accident occurred; his toxicology report was clear. The car has long since been salvaged since Toyota's unintednded acceleration issues were not public knowledge at the time two years ago.
