Five problems related to front seat belt retractor have been reported for the 1996 Toyota Camry. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Consumer stated the seat belt retractors do not release from tracting mechanism, causing seat belts to become inoperable.
Seatbelt retractors in the vehicle don't work properly. Sometimes belt doesn't retract all the way or sometimes it won't retract at all. Consumer feels this is unsafe it may not properly restrain in an accident.
Driver's seat belt would not retract.
Passenger lap/shoulder belt will overretract and cannot get out of the seat belt.
Seat belt retractor inoperative.
