Brake Disc Caliper problems of the 1999 Toyota Camry

Three problems related to brake disc caliper have been reported for the 1999 Toyota Camry. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Brake Disc Caliper problem

Failure Date: 05/14/2010

I have had to replace the brakes 3 times since I bought this car. Rotors and calipers have all been replaced 3 times. Car now has about 130,000 miles. Last repairman said there was excessive rust on the brakes, but the car is not driven in any salt water.

2 Brake Disc Caliper problem

Failure Date: 09/18/2000

Vehicle was involved in an accident when there was a brake failure, dealer found the calipers to be defective and replaced the brake pads, rotors, and calipers, in the accident, the airbags experienced no deployment and the seatbelts did not work, passenger sustained injuries.

3 Brake Disc Caliper problem

Failure Date: 09/18/2000

When brakes were applied in a panic stop, pedal went to the floor, resulting in extended stopping distance which caused a collision/ minor injuries. Upon inspection of vehicle by the dealer, it was discovered that calipers were defective. Dealer has replaced rotors/pads and calipers.
