Four problems related to gasoline fuel system have been reported for the 1999 Toyota Camry. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
I have a 1999 Toyota Camry, le, that the gas pedal continually sticks. I have to hold the gas pedal when it sticks and press down, sometimes hard, on the gas pedal to continue forward. My daughter has driven the car and almost was rear ended when she couldn't get the car to move.
My daughter was driving 1999 Toyota Camry solara. When crossing highway at intersection, the car hesitated on acceleration and she was struck on the passenger side rear. She states she had plenty of time to cross but "the car just wouldn't go". Also, despite impacts from several angles, no airbags deployed.
Engine blew out on freeway. Engine failure diagnosed as sludge build up leading to thrown rod and crankshaft. Rod busted through crankcase. My 1999 Toyota Camry was one of Toyota's flawed engine designs suffering from a known oil gel build up problem - -fe four cylinder and 1mz-fe v-6 engines.
Rear strut is causing vehicle to act up. When the vehicle is 3/4 full, vehicle will make a thumping sound. Especially when backing up & accelerating. Dealer knows of problem.
