Air Bag Not Deploy problems of the 2000 Toyota Camry - part 1

I was driving home from work, this guy in a blue Hyundai would stay in his lane, so I sped up to get around him, in turn he started racing me, so I went a bit faster to get around him, was about to round the corner so I went to slow down and my rear end fishtail, I hit the guardrail and spun out. Both my crumple zones on the back and front were affected but my airbags did not deploy! thankfully I'm just really sore and not seriously injured!.

I was driving down a highway early in the morning with my mom, and daughter who was in an infant carseat. My husband was following me in the uhaul when I hit a deer going 55mph. I never saw the deer jump out in front of me, and my husband said I wouldnt have had time to stop regardless. But my air bags never deployed. Thank goodness no one was hurt. At the time we lived in kansas but were getting ready to move to texas.

I was driving my very faithful Toyota Camry on a busy 2 lane road when a Honda pilot stopped suddenly in front of me. I immediately reacted and slammed on the brakes. Unfortunately I didn't have allow adequate stopping distance, so I crashed into the Honda pilot. The pilot wasn't damaged much at all, but my Camry took a huge lick to the front. My airbag did not deploy, nor did my seatbelt lock. My chest hit the steering wheel. I did not go to the hospital in an ambulance, but went to the urgent care for treatment. I have a painful chest contusion (sprained sternum) and a stiff neck (cervical strain, or whiplash).

I rearend a 1998 Toyota Camry 4dr traveling approx 35 mph. I had severe damage to the front end of my car and expect my car to be totalled. My air bags did not deploy. The car I hit hit the cae in front of them which was a chevy tahao. The car in front of me (Toyota) did not have here airbags deploy either. This is a grave concern. Accident occurred on 4/17/09 when I tried to put my 2000 Toyota Camry in the park position. The car took off hitting two walls, one car, one SUV and then crash in a wall. My son was traveling northbound on I-75 near bruce b. Downs blvd in tampa FL at approx 2:30 am on 9/26/2008. Another driver attempted to enter his lane and he swerved into the far right lane to avoid being struck losing control went off the road. The vehicle left the road at approx 70 mph, went airborne, landed straight down then did an end to end flip approx 20 yds off the highway into the woods, coming to rest upside down. He was driving a 2000 Toyota solara se, vine #. He was wearing his seatbelt; however, the airbag did not deploy. The car was totaled. He sustained minor injuries, but nothing requiring hospitalization. Accident was a head-on collision into a parked car at 35-40 miles per hour. Car was a 2000 Toyota Camry. The air bag did not deploy. The car was totaled. Only one person was in the car at the time of the accident. The air bag failure resulted in a back injury (likely a pulled ligament) to the driver. This Toyota Camry had only one owner; I purchased the car in 2000. The air bags have never previously been deployed. The car that was hit was a Toyota corolla s. The car was pushed into another car in front of it; the air bags in the corolla did not deploy either. Only one person was in this car; the driver of the corolla had whiplash from the accident.

On Dec. 27, 2007, I was driving my 2000 Toyota Camry, when my car was hit in the rear, causing me to swerve off the road, hitting a telephone pole head on at approximately 30 mph. I was riding in a 2000 Toyota Camry when the vehicle was rear-ended by a 3/4 tone truck carrying a trailer with lawn maintenance equipment. I experienced back injuries as did the driver. The complaint though, is that the front passenger seat, where I was sitting with my seat belt in use, did not withstand the collision. The upright portion of the seat was laying on top of the back seat after the impact. This contributed to the back and shoulder injuries I received. The Toyota was not hit from the side so the failure of the seat was not the result of a direct impact. The seat simply came loose and failed to maintain its position as I was thrown forward and then back. After the accident and during the repair process, the body shop checked the seat and stated the locking mechanism is working properly however, the seat has not been "right" since the accident. It is not properly positioned. The impact was fairly substantial (up to $5000 in damage - trunk was crumpled and other damage) and the airbags did not deploy. Just after the moment of impact, I looked over at my mother who was driving and watched in horror as she snapped over the steering wheel. I don't know if airbag deployment requires a "head-on" before the bags will deploy but this situation could have been much worse (initially I was afraid my mother's neck had fractured) and had my mother gone any further forward, the failure of the airbags to deploy would have resulted in a serious if not fatal injury.

Consumer complained about a sudden acceleration problem. While driving at approximately 10 mph and approaching a traffic light the accelerator pedal stuck, causing the vehicle to accelerate without warning, and hitting a guard rail. Upon impact, air bags failed to deploy. The vehicle was totaled.

Consumer's vehicle was at a stop at a traffic light when all of a sudden another vehicle struck it in front. Upon impact, airbags did not deploy.

While driving consumer applied the brakes and pedal went to the floor. Another vehicle crashed into consumer's vehicle head on. Upon impact, both air bag did not deploy. The seat belt broke, causing it to hit the glass windshield. Visor inside of the vehicle sheared off and fell onto of the driver head and caused a deep scar on top of the driver 's forehead. The driver was transported by ambulance to the hospital. The vehicle was towed to the dealer for inspection.

Driver's side air bag did not deploy in a big accident.

While driving 5 mph vehicle surged forward. This caused the driver to lose control of the vehicle. The consumer hit a building. Upon impact, both front air bags did not deploy.

Vehicle hit a retainer wall. Upon impact, the air bags failed to deploy. Both the driver and the passenger sustained injuries. . . . . While driving consumer's daughter had a seizure and passed out with her foot on the accelerator. Consumer attempted to put vehicle in park and turn off the ignition. Took off sea belt, came into the driver's side and turned across traffic into a parking, lost garage where the vehicle struck a retaining wall. The consumer stated even though she was successful in turning off the ignition off and putting the gear in park, the vehicle continued to accelerate. The consumer stated there was problems with the accelerator sticking on several occasions including prior to the accident. Updated 04/06/11.

Consumer's vehicle was struck from the rear at approximately 40 mph. Then, consumer's vehicle struck the vehicle in front. Upon impact, air bags did not deploy, and driver's seat broke, tossing the consumer.

The consumer stated that when the vehicle was hit in the front center, the air bag did not deploy, and the seat belt broke. The dealer was notified. The consumer had run into a pole and fled the scene. The police officer located the consumer and as he talked to him, the consumer seemed confused and disoriented and an ambulance was dispatched to the consumer's home where the officer found him. The consumer died from his injuries.

The vehicle was involved in a frontal collision, and the air bags failed to deploy.

Driver's side air bag did not deploy during a crash.

While traveling approximately 35 to 40 mph vehicle was involved in a frontal crash and both frontal air bags failed to deploy. Driver sustained muscular and skeletal injuries. Also, steering column was bent due to crash forces. Vehicle has not been examined to determine cause of failure of air bag deployment. Please provide any additional information / attachments.

Consumers wife was driving and pulled into a parking lot, and vehicle accelerated into a cement barrier surrounding a light post. She was traveling at approximately 20 to 25 mph, and both frontal air bags failed to deploy. No determination has been made as to why the air bags failed to function. Driver experienced whiplash, and was seeking futher medical help for neck pain.

While driving 60mph on interstate vehicle started to vibrate, consumer took exit, and slowed down to 55 mph, applied brakes and vehicle started to vibrate more. Anti- lock brakes locked up on right side first, causing vehicle to veer to right and vehicle to hit six inch concrete curbing, went through chain link fence and hit a tree. Air bags did not deploy and consumer was injured with many injuries, consumer took pictures and one shows the front drivers side mounting of the airbag sensor with the steel beam and bumper attachment bracket bent up showing the force of the impact, consumer is concerned that the air bags did not experience deployment.

Vehicle hit a six inch concrete curbing, went through a chainlink fence, and hit a tree. Upon impact, air bags didnot deploy. Also, hit another tree on passenger side, and side air bags did not deploy. While driving, vehicle began to vibrate, consumer applied brakes which locked up causing vehicle to veer to the right, consumer was injured in accident, consumer took photos of accident, one photo showed the front drivers side mounting of the airbag sensor with the steel beam and bumper attachment bracket bent up showing the force of the impact.

When driving consumer was involved in a direct frontal hit at 15mph. Upon impact, air bags did not deploy, causing minor injuries to driver. Please provide further details.

Consumer was traveling 35-40mph and broadsided another vehicle, who ran through a stop sign. Airbags did not deploy. Vehicle belonged to hertz rent-a-car. Manufacturer could only say it depended on impact of accident whether airbags deployed.

Consumer was traveling about 55mph on highway and was in traffic when another vehicle mad a sudden stop. She ran in back of him, and airbags failed to deploy. Dealership was aware of problem. .
