Failure of door latches on a Toyota 2002 Camry. In the last year I have had both door latches on the driver and passenger side to break without any notice, preventing exit from the vehicle. Contacted Toyota and the y not acknowledge any problems with the latches.
Passenger front door latch no longer closes. The door needed to be taped shut to drive it home. The latch failed in the open state instead of the closed state and I'm concerned this could happen to someone while on the road.
The contact owns a 2002 Toyota Camry. The contact stated that both rear doors did not lock or unlock automatically. The contact had to open the front doors to unlock the vehicle and had to manually lock the rear doors before exiting. The dealer inspected the vehicle but the contact could not remember what the dealer said needed to be repaired. The failure mileage was unknown and the current mileage was approximately 105,000.
Inside door handles on driver and passenger. The chrome coating has cracked and peeled revealing a sharp edge that cuts the fingers of the person pulling the handle to open the door. Permanent repair requires removing the inside door panels and installing new handles.
The door handles on the car where you open the door at break. This is from normal wear and tear from just opening the doors.
The door handle lock release on the driver's side had broken when I proceeded to open the door of the vehicle to get out. Had this been an emergency situation such as a vehicle immersion and if there was no power to the power windows, I would not have been able to open the driver's side window to reach out and release the door lock from the outside.
2002 Camry. Powered door locks randomly stop working. Remote keyless or keyed entry will not unlock affected doors. Power lock/unlock button inside vehicle will not lock/unlock the affected door. Doors have to be manually locked/unlocked from within the vehicle. This is a safety issue because 1) affected doors do not lock when car is put in drive. And 2) the door may not unlock if airbags are deployed. This is a problem that is well documented on the internet Toyota Camry 2002-through 2007 and has not been addressed by the manufacturer.
