general problems of the 2004 Toyota Camry

The contact owns a 2004 Toyota Camry. The contact stated that while driving at 25 mph, another vehicle crashed into the rear end of the vehicle. The contact mentioned that the air bags failed to deploy however, the air bag warning light illuminated. In addition, the contact stated that the seat belt failed to retract and caused the contact¿s pregnant belly to encounter the steering wheel. A police report was filed. The contact and the front seat passenger sustained muscle injuries that required medical attention. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. Vehicle was in motion when another vehicle ran a red light and hit the 2004 Camry at the drivers headlight area at about 45 mph! with this high impact the airbags did not deploy and the drivers seatbelt shoulder strap did not catch! drivers head hit the windshield and both driver and passenger went to the emergency room! both received neck and back sprains! Camry is a one owner car with 130,000 miles! car was towed and damages are being accessed!.

Car was rammed on the passenger side of my vehicle. The air bag did not deploy and my seat belt did not hold me back. I was thrown forward against the steering wheel and seriously injured, though not permanently. Both cars were totaled.

The technician replaced the entire accelerated pedal assembly. However the driver-side seat belt will not retract properly. The failure mileage was 55,000.

She purchased some safety clips for the seat belts. The clips did not correct the problem. She heard about a recall on a similar problem, but was not sure if this vehicle was included. The seat belt folds under the upper shoulder area of the re-tractor, thus binding in the re-tractor this condition causes either the seat belt unusable or further tightening causing breathing problems and or possible entrapment in the vehicle. To this end, I feel this is a serious issue. I filed a complaint with Toyota, case # 1308071845 on Aug. 07-2013, after which they told me they had no such previous complaints? a google search or youtube search will find several complaints of "folding seat belts resulting in jamming".
