When slowly finishing my entry into a parking spot and braking the car suddenly accelerated to a high speed and bolted over the curb with a planter zone into another parked car directly facing my parking lane hitting the front passenger side. My car was still accelerating and hit another car to the left of the first parked car, hitting it in the rear driver side door. My car kept going until I was finally able to get the brake to work and it stopped just before another parking lot curb with planter zone. As far as I can tell the brake and or accelerator malfunctioned dangerously and suddenly. It could also have been a malfunctioning tps (throttle positioning sensor). I would like my car inspected to determine what caused this malfunction. While everyone involved said they felt fine. One person, in the first car hit, was sitting in the driver seat, luckily no one was in the front passenger seat. That driver said she was ok. The second car was unoccupied. This dangerous incident had no warnings or symptoms prior to the accident. My online research shows that there was a recall that included my make and year for sticky pedal, floormat, and deformed accelerator cable housing. These can cause unintended acceleration or unresponsive pedal. According to the Toyota website my VIN has no outstanding recalls though. I would like my car checked out because any recall repair, if done, may not have been done thoroughly enough to prevent the collision I experienced on September 28, 2025, some 15 years or so after the 2010 recall.
On 03/29/20 I was backing into a parking space in a restaurant parking lot when I pressed on the accelerator the car took off like a rocket ship and I hit a truck. This is my 1st accident. It happened so fast but I immediately took my foot off the accelerator and both feet were on the floor and both hands on the wheel after I felt the acceleration. Toyota is denying my claim. . Can you review?.
Previous odi 10576595, 2 April 2014/ today 25aug2017: at approx. 1910-1915 hrs I was driving south on bell Ave. Approaching hurley Ave, in sacramento, CA. , when for the third time I have experienced vehicle acceleration while braking. The second time, I was driving in the late evening, 2200, to the movies; approaching arden and fulton, same thing, braking and the vehicle accelerated almost hitting the vehicle in front of me; that time my actions of standing on the brake and turning off the ignition key kept me from hitting the other car. This second incident happened maybe 2 months ago! I considered that maybe my sandal got caught on the brake pedal, which is why I did not make an immediate report! now I know for sure that it is and always has been a tautly problem with the braking, engine rev/acceleration problem! Toyota denies that this problem happens with the solara! tonight, I also stood on my brakes when I heard the engine rev and the car accelerated, hitting the vehicle in front of me. The vehicle was pushed out into the intersection, but, not into cross traffic! instead of the stuck vehicle crossing through the intersection and pulling over, they/he/she sped off down bell about? to northrup and turned left. I called chp and the made a report: ncic 9250 / officer 19071. Tried pulling up my previous report via VIN# and odi# and found nothing on file! what gives? the first incident occurred during the period of Toyota dealing with massive vehicle recall for the same problem; solara's were not on the list at that time, and the denied that this was also a problem with solara's. What I perceive as a problem is that only Toyota can read the black box; and, can claim whatever they want the analysis to be. Which, is totally unfair to the victomized owner!!!!!!!!!!!! street speed 35 mph, braking for intersection, engine rev and acceleration!.
2005 Toyota Camry xle. Consumer writes in regards to unexpected acceleration. The consumer stated while reversing the engine revved to high rpm and lunged backwards approximately 7 feet, jumped a 6 inch concrete step and plowed into the garage door.
Takata recall. On August 2017 I was in a accident I put my car in reverse and it flew me back and forward fast. My leg was broken and mouth busted. . The air bag didn't deploy. I was thrown to a brick wall.
While pulling into a parking spot at minimal rate of speed in a residential parking lot. I experienced random acceleration of my vehicle. Despite applying the brake the vehicle would not stop accelerating. I turned my vehicle into a metal pole to keep it from temporarily moving forward. Due to the acceleration & friction, the asphalt under the car was burned, the left front tire exploded as did the passenger side window. The entire right front side of the vehicle was totaled. I was finally able to get the vehicle to stop by turning off the ignition.
When I reversed from a parking space the car accelerated so rapidly I couldn't control the speed. I had to slam on the brake as hard as I could! tried to return to parking spot. The car continued to accelerate it jumped the curb and was stopped by trees!! absolutely terrifying!!.

Backing out of a parking spot at wal-mart car surged and I had to slam on the brake. My foot was on the brake when backing up and I turned around to go forward when car was still backing up so I slammed on the brake. Of course I panicked and could not understand what was happening. The car was moving backward and my foot was not on the gas. This was the second time the same thing happened in October while backing up. It also had surge forward before after going back and forth out of a parking space. I still have the dent on the front bumper.
November 9th 2013 - as I pulled into a parking space with my foot on the brake, the car took off like a rocket and hit a small tree. When I put the car in reverse, again with my foot on the brake, it shot backward into a parked car. November 25th 2013 - again, pulling into a parking spot with my foot on the brake, the car shot forward, this time, it went right into a brick wall. Approximately 40 bricks rained down on the hood of the vehicle, the front end is smashed in, but this time, I had a passenger that was injured and kept overnight in the hospital. The airbags never deployed. The police that responded were shocked.
My car experiences a lag between the time when I press the gas pedal and when the car actually starts to move. The lag can last up to 2 seconds and presents a critical safety issue which has led to couple of near miss accidents in intersections and changing lanes. This feels like it would if your car stalled in the middle of the intersection and then the light changed or accelerate to change lanes while it trys to flow with the traffic. A technical service bulletin was issued for certain VIN solaras which reflashed the ecu to a new program in an effort to reduce the lag but my car is not under this issue. I also find out that many of other solara owners said this was not an effective corrective action. Toyota has no solution at this time and this puts my and others' safety at risk.
Car accelerated from stop at atm . Car would not stop. Hit two parked cars.
I was backing up on grass when the car accelerated backwards. I panicked because I thought I had my foot on the brake and then I was confused reaching for the brake pedal and then gas pedal. My foot was going back and forth. I slammed on the brake to stop but hit a fence pole destroyed bumper. The car seemed to be moving on its own and I may have hit the gas pedal by accident then slammed on the brake. No one was hurt but shook up. It happened again on December 18, 2013. I was backing up again in wal-marts parking lot and for some reason it accelerated again and I remember saying not again. That time I know my right foot was not on the gas pedal at all. I panicked again and slammed on the brake hitting another vehicle behind me. This car jerks a lot and it had accelerated going forward twice, once in a parking garage and damaged my front bumper, then again I almost went over the rail road tracks parking by a business. I do not feel safe in this car. Toyota is investigating my claim no. [xxx]. Investigator will look at my car next week. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

Defective throttle body. . . Found out this is common with Camry. Over 1,000 to replace. Outrageous for a car with 43k miles and original owner. Thos should be a recall item by Toyota.
Car stopped to allow garage gate to raise/open at which time the car, which was initially in park, was put in drive with foot on brake - car then went completely out of control at a significant speed crashing into a cement pillar which is what stopped the car - the pillar. On Jan. 5, 2012 around 10:00 a. M. I was accelerating up hill at the speed of 50 mpg. When I let up on the gas pedal my car continued to accelerate. I started applying the brakes but it didn't help. As the car kept going faster I went into a panic mode applying the brakes, pulling back on the emergency brakes as far as I could, and trying to shift into nuetral or park or anything to get my car to stop. I went off the road at the same time I got it into park. Stopping abruptly I jumped from the car the wheels still spinning and smoke puoring form the wheel wells. I was pretty hysterical from my ordeal but had the sense to reach in and turn off the key. I called my husband and sat down and cried until he got there. We had the car towed to Toyota in napa CA. And yesterday (Jan. 11, 2011) they called to say they can't find anything wrong and we can pick up the car anytime we want. Please help me !!!! this wasn't just a figument of my imagination. It happened for some reason. Do they really think I ever want to drive this car again??? I feel very grateful to walk away with my life. If there had been more traffic or no place to go off the road or in a worse case senerio driving the 10 mile mountain road from town to my house I probably wouldn't have. I feel the need to tell as many people as I can to save some one else from this.

Car feels like its going to flip over when driving past 60. Had to have brakes changed twice. Car has accelerated while driving at least twice in a two year span when driving over 60 miles per hour. Biggest problems are the wheels which make the car ride seem unstable but only got tires rotated once; however, vehicle seems to run lop-sided?.
