1 Automatic Transmission problem

Failure Date: 07/29/2010

I have late Toyota Camry v6 with the similar to case #10348638 problems - a sluggish accelerator response though not related to stops. I noticed is on the second day after I bought a new car, brought it to a dealership service dept, was told that "a computer needs to adjust to my way of driving". Brought it again after a couple of years, no problem found. It does not happen all the time, but almost every day. I found it very annoying and dangerous when it happens.

2 Automatic Transmission problem

Failure Date: 09/01/2009

4 cylinder automatic transmission console shifter mechanism is supposed to lock when placed into park. Safety lock should not release shifter from park unless the key is in the ignition, and the brake pedal and release button on shifter are both depressed. On my car, the shifter will come out of park just by moving it, whether or not the key is in the ignition, and whether or not the brake pedal and/or the release button are depressed. I pulled off the trim cover over the mechanism and found that the white plastic part that rotates over the lock pin had over-rotated so that the lock pin missed its entry into the slot. I returned it to its original position and the mechanism appeared to function properly again. However, about a week later the problem has re-occurred so I think it will require new parts. Obvious safety issue: transmission can be knocked out of park at any time.

3 Automatic Transmission problem

Failure Date: 04/15/2009

I own a 2006 Toyota solara convertible. While driving this vehicle I have to accelerate, for example when changing lanes on the highway and trying to increase speed, the vehicle hesitates and there is a delay and then will increase in power. This is dangerous because this also happened at an intersection when I was turning left, I depressed the gas pedal-the vehicle hesitated, then power was reinstated. This is a daily occurrence and it needs to be looked into. I believe a recall needs to be issued due to the nature of the problem and potential effects it could have.

4 Automatic Transmission problem

Failure Date: 10/17/2007

I have a 2006 Toyota Camry/solara convertible. It has a tendency to hesitate when I accelerate. This is very dangerous as I drive interstate 95 in the northern va area and have had several close calls while trying to get onto the highway. This needs to be a recall item.

5 Automatic Transmission problem

Failure Date: 08/25/2007

On this day I had driven 100 miles on the highway. I proceeded to exit a ramp and my 2006 solara convertible lost drive. I was unable to park and the car wouldn't go although the vehicle was still in drive. I tried reverse and I was able to park by backing up. After several tries of driving without being able to get into drive I made several phone calls to aaa. After 30 minutes of not using the car it started up and drive was working. I proceeded on my trip. Afterthe car sat for several hours I began the trip home. I made it as far as the exit where the hotel was I was to stay at that night. Upon exiting the ramp I again had no drive. It was dark and no lights at the exit. I was frightened I would be hit from behind so I was able to backup onto a grassy area next to the exit ramp. Again I had no drive. I waited for 20 minutes hoping this was again a temporary problem. I tried again and the car began to move slowly with the engine sounding like I was going very fast. The car was barely moving and I now smelled something burning. I called aaa and had the car towed to falmouth Toyota. (100 miles but close to home. ) the car has been there a week and they can't find anything wrong with it. I am told they have tested all that they can. A mechanic has driven it several times with the diagnositc equipment on it but nothing has gone wrong. I pleaded with them to drive it in excess of 60 miles to try and duplicate the problem but they state they can't justify that. I'm told I must take back the car without knowing if this will happen again. Is this the reliability I should expect from Toyota?.

6 Automatic Transmission problem

Failure Date: 08/14/2007

I have a 2006 Toyota camery v6 and it has major transmission problems. The transmission doesn't properly change gears. The car drives slower than a car with a v4 engine. It seems to stall for a few seconds when attempting to change gears. I've taken it the dealer 4 times. Currently this car only has 12,000 miles and the dealer changed the transmission once. When I came back again and again with the same complaint the dealer claims that the car is operating as designed. I've gone into arbitration with Toyota and they claim that there's nothing wrong with this car.

7 Automatic Transmission problem

Failure Date: 09/14/2006

Within the past 6 months, I've noticed a lag between the time I depress the accelerator and the transmission engaging. This mainly occurs at low speeds, however, it does occur when decelerating (when approaching a traffic light for example) and I have to accelerate if the light changes. I contacted the local dealership and talked to a service representative. The representative indicated that the "shift points" were faulty and that Toyota was aware of the problem. He also indicated that avalon's have the problem too. He advised me to wait a few months for direction from Toyota. I contacted Toyota to confirm what the dealership had conveyed. Toyota indicated that there were no service bulletins regarding this problem or that a problem of this nature existed.

8 Automatic Transmission problem

Failure Date: 08/22/2006

06/07 Camry v6 and 07 avalon have a 1 second delay or longer on acceleration. I feel this delay is very dangerous. This occurs at any speed and is dangerous because you press on accelerator farther down than required because of the delay and the car lurches forward after the delay. My dealer says all 5 speed auto transmission cars for Toyota have this delay and they cannot fix it. My dealer is not disclosing this to customers but will gladly address this if asked. My dealer has agreed to replace my 06 Camry with an 07 because I feel the 80 hp more on the 07 and more air bags are better than the 06. The delay is also on the 07 Camry v6.

9 Automatic Transmission problem

Failure Date: 06/26/2006

I have a 2006 Toyota Camry which died when driving to work on Friday 6/26/09. I was in a curve at 45 mph and the steering became very stiff and the engine died and all the warning lights came on. I was trying to pass a cyclist and nearly hit a gravel truck and the cyclist when trying to steer the car off the road and stop it.

10 Automatic Transmission problem

Failure Date: 06/07/2006

2006 Camry problem 1: -- symptom: when filling up the tank and setting the gas pump handle to automatically fill the tank, (I. E. , setting the switch on the handle), cannot be done (the pump switch pops). (this problem repeated at multiple different stations over several consecutive fill-ups. ) after a diagnostic, the dealer said the canister needs to be replaced. Another gas station attendant said this was a common problem on many late model Camrys (his station is down the block from a dealer so he says he has seen a few of these), caused when the tank is overfilled and flooding gas into the canister, ruining it, and ultimately causing the fill-up problems described above. Its scheduled to be fixed tomorrow, but wondering if this is a design/product defect, that will reoccur in the future (esp after the warranty ends. ) please do not advise to not overfill the tank, for 2 reasons: 1) I live in NJ, where only station attendants are legally allowed to fill the tank, so I have little/no control over it. 2) this should not ever be a problem, in general, even if the tank is overfilled and gas gushes onto the ground. Problem 2: windshield constantly fogs up; need to use defroster in all types of weather, esp raining. I had this problem on my 84 corolla; big pain. Problem 3: somewhat jerky ride, noticed when coasting to a stop, at approx 5-15 mph, then the traffic light turns green, and start to press the gas, the car jerks and lunges; seems to me that its trying to find the right gear, then it does, and this happens. Thought the problem was me, but other drivers of my car noticed the same thing. Dealer said that the car is programmed to adjust to the driver's habits (computers!!), and may be confused when drivers change, exhibiting this problem.

11 Automatic Transmission problem

Failure Date: 06/04/2005

2006 Toyota solara developed various problems. The consumer rented the vehicle when he discovered the problems with the head rest which protruded from the back seat restricting the already tiny rear window. When backing from any parking space, with the top up, t he consumer was unable to see pedestrians . The vehicle had a 4-8 second delay when automatically shifting from second to a higher gear. The outside temperature gauge became stuck. The lcd gauges can't be seen when driving in bright sunlight.
