Body problems of the 2007 Toyota Camry - part 1

I.

The 2007 Toyota Camry has a manufacturing defect related to sticky/melting dashboards as a result of heat or humidity. Toyota sent me a warranty notice for an extension for 10 years from the date of first use of the vehicle, which they determined was the date that I purchased the vehicle on July 31, 2007. In 2013, I took the vehicle to a Toyota dealer, however, they refused to replace the dashboard because, in their opinion, it was not sufficiently compromised. However, now, years later, the dashboard has become very sticky and reflective. It produces a glare into the windshield, impairing vision, which is now a safety issue due to the manufacturer defect. This defect could cause serious injury and death. On August 5, 2022, I appealed to Toyota customer service for them to replace the dashboard. I emphasized the safety issue. However, a senior representative declined to make an exception. I then wrote to tetsuo "ted" ogawa, ceo of Toyota motor north America to ask for his help (see attached letter). I asked him to personally authorize the dashboard replacement and reply to me directly. Almost two months later, I have not received any communication from him. Moreover, on October 4th, I called Toyota customer service to follow-up on my letter. I was told that scott murphy, executive office administrator send me an email on September 1st asking for the best time to contact me. I never received this email, neither in my inbox or in my gmail spam folder. That same day, I called mr. Murphy and left a detailed voice message. I have called him several times since then, each time leaving a message on his voicemail. He has deliberately refused to return my phone calls. I am appalled that Toyota and its ceo does not take safety issues seriously. I kindly ask you to either contact Toyota on my behalf to have them replace the dashboard, or to issue a recall of all 2007 Toyota Camry's due to a manufacturer defect that can result in serious injury or death.

The dashboard melts when parked outside causing objects to get stuck and reflect in the windshield.

I own a 2007 Toyota Camry solara with less than 70,400 miles. It’s up to date on maintenance and is garaged. In December 2020, while garaged, my entire dashboard cracked without warning. After researching the condition, I learned that hundreds of Camrys and solaras were affected and that Toyota replaced some dashboards under an extended warranty program… one such ze6 program expired in August 2020. I was not notified. Despite the tremendous safety issue (the entirety of the car’s electronics sits beneath the dashboard including the airbags which, if deployed, can hurl dashboard pieces throughout the interior and blind and disfigure driver and passengers alike). Incredibly, neither Toyota nor NHTSA has issued a recall. Toyota corp/dealership will do nothing at their expense. I iive in fear that if my car is bumped or tapped, I’ll be maimed by flying dashboard debris; this puts my passengers and pedestrians at risk as well. Please help me get my dashboard replaced before something unthinkable happens. Thank you.

Driver side visor flaps down to forehead level when stationary. Flaps down pointing down when in motion going over bump. Visor does not stay tucked in its stow away position. Caused injury to right temple getting into the car. Caused forehead injury at a sudden stop. Dealt we refused to replace or repair. Toyota claims the the recall ended in 2018 so the part is not eligible for replacement.

As soon as I drove this car off the lot, the "tire balance" light came on. The tires were low so I put air in them and the light is still on. The front bumper skirt scrapes on every dip in the road it seems, sounding horrible. Then, it got caught on a parking stop which loosened the skirt so it now hangs even lower and scrapes bottom over every crack in the road.

Tl- the contact owns a 2007 Toyota Camry. The contact stated that the dashboard material had melted and experienced cracking and separation. The contacted indicated after after ten year old child touched the melting dashboard material, residue from the material was present on the child's hand. The cause of the failure was not determined. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but no assistance was offered. The local dealer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 110,000. Jft.

About a year ago, I noticed that the dashboard was not firm. It dented very easily. This year, I did not drive much, but when I did, the dashboard was melting and shiny, reflecting in the windshield, making visibility dangerously insufficient while driving. The problem is much worse on sunny days. Dashboard can not be cleaned, since it is gooey. Precise date is hard to say, because of covid restrictions and cautions.

Melted and sticky dashboard.

I was driving at about 25mph on montgomery drive in philadelphia (city street) in the morning of 12/9/2019. It was raining lightly. The car in front of me was about 4 to 5 car-lengths ahead. It braked as another car tried to cut in, and I also immediately braked. My brake felt grinding and my car continued to slide into the back of the car in front of me.

1)body- the body of the vehicle (paint) seems to be chipping and/or rusting at an increasingly rapid rate with no known causes. This rusting is causing the value of the car to plummet as I am trying to sell the vehicle. It first appeared in about 2019 and has been getting steadily worse without any way to stop it. 2) suspension- on every single Toyota I’ve owned (4) the struts wore very quickly and are not a cheap fix. I had to at one point, fix them more than once in the same vehicle. I was told by the repair tech that it is a common issue seen in Toyotas. If a strut goes while driving it can cause major safety issues for the driver. 3)wheels- the hubcaps more specifically speaking, on every Toyota I’ve owned, have also had an issue maintaining its hubcaps. One rolled off on the highway and nearly caused me to crash as it hit the side of my car and slid under the rear tires and made me slide all over the snowy highway. Luckily there weren’t many vehicles on the road or it could’ve been catastrophic. I also notice that the light for the tire pressure never turns off either. I can fill the tires, empty the tires, it does not matter, the light will never go off.

Tl- the contact's mother owns a a 2007 Toyota Camry. The contact stated the sun has melted the dashboard, making the area sticky and interior visible. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The contact called local dealer Toyota of downtown l. A. Located at 1901 s figueroa st, los angeles, CA 90007, (213) 481-5074, were made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired as of yet. The manufacturer has been informed of failure. The failure mileage was 100,000. Dp.

Tl- the contact owns a 2007 Toyota Camry. The contact stated that while driving 35 mph, noticed that there was a sticky substance on dashboard. The contact stated when the sun hits the windshield on driver side while driving the glare on dashboard makes it difficult to visibly see the vehicle in front. The contact changed lanes to be able to continue driving safely. The contact had not contacted the dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 162,000. As.

My Toyota Camry se 2007 model consumes excessive oil. The oil gone at 2400 km after I changed the oil. And the paint right above the door and on the spoiler start getting peeling off.

Tl- the contact owns a 2007 Toyota Camry. The contact stated that the dashboard had a sticky residue as well as cracks. The clare from the sticky substance was impacting visibility while the vehicle was in motion. The dealer bill penney Toyota(4808 university dr NW, huntsville, al 35816, (256) 837-1111) diagnosed that the dashboard needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was notified, had no recall to provide a solution, provided an extended warranty campaign but indicated that the vehicle was excluded and to take the vehicle to the dealer for repairs. The approximate failure mileage was not available. Dyd.

My 2007 Toyota Camry dashboard is very sticky and seems to be melting. With the slightest tap to it, pieces of the rubber on the dashboard will break off. I have done some research and apparently there was a recall on the car because of the dashboards during the time I purchased it but being that I was not the owner in Toyota's log I was not notified. I have contacted Toyota via telephone and gotten no results and I have went to a Toyota lot and still haven't got any results. Any and everything is able to stick to the dashboards putting it at risk of becoming home for microorganisms and possibly causing respiratory issues for me. I am not able to disinfect the dashboard because everything sticks to it. In the past I would no doubt recommend Toyota to everyone due to the fact that my family has been a long time supporter of Toyota but currently I would not recommend them because they refuse to fix something that is a manufacturers issue.

The dashboard is made of a plastic that deteriorates over time. The effect is a sticky coating when the dashboard is exposed to warmth. Toyota expanded the warranty for 10 years. My car did not exhibit symptoms during that time, or when checked, had not been exposed to heat (the car is garage kept). Dashboards should not wear out. Toyota was sold a defective material. I do not understand why Toyota would not insist that customers are made whole for this (the repair is over $1,200) rather than risk losing loyal (formerlly loyal) customers. My wife and I have owned 5 Toyotas since 1980, and currently have two. The shiny dash can be a safety hazard. Our 2007 had other serious defects that Toyota repaired. We will shop another brand next time.

Large parts of dashboard melting or extruding glossy sticky residue, causing hazardous glare when driving. Toyota aware of situation and extended warranty for some models for this condition but not my model.

Toyota case #1809103728. Dashboard is melting. Mother never received the notification in the mail and was not advised when she brough the car into the Toyota dealer. Spoke to natasha ramirez, operations supervisor at Toyota headquarters and she advised there is nothing they an do. They are allowing dangerous vehicle on the road and are not taking any responsibility or action to fix the situation.

There was a recall on dashboard on my vehicle and Toyota won't replace the dash now because they say that the replacement period is over now however I'm military and this happened when I was deploy. I have tried calling them however they don't have any answers for me. Thanks so much for your help.

The contact received an extended warranty from the manufacturer in reference to the structure of the dashboard; however, the failure did not occur until six weeks after the deadline ended. The manufacturer declined to replace the dashboard. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer (kc summers auto group, 117 s 19th st, mattoon, IL, 61938). The dealer agreed with the manufacturer, but stated that they would assist with whatever the manufacturer stated. The failure mileage was approximately 148,000.

The dashboard is starting to melt. When the outside temperature gets warm, 80 degrees plus, the dashboard is so sticky you can not put your hands on it.

The contact owns a 2007 Toyota Camry. The contact stated that, over time, the dashboard began to melt, and produced a glare on the windshield. The vehicle was taken to fowler Toyota of tulsa (6868 e broken arrow expressway frontage rd, tulsa, ok 74145) where the dealer stated that the dashboard needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that they could not assist since the vehicle was out of warranty. The approximate failure mileage was 196,000.

The front dashboard of my car has melted. On a sunny day there is too much of a glare that I cannot see clearly to what is ahead. I cannot place anything on the dashboard because it sticks on there and it has began to chip off when I accidentally bump my nail on it. It is horrible and dangerous with that glare. If someone was on the side of the road I may not see them on time to let them pass by because of the glare and it is getting worse as it continues to melt even more.

Sticky dashboard. Causes visibility hazard due to shiny glare. Toyota did not notify ahead of their warranty extension. Right Toyota dealership did not mention after service visits. Toyota will not replace, says it is ,my fault for not knowing ahead of time that my dashboard would one day melt. Car has always been garaged and has only 55k miles. Shame on Toyota.

Sticky melting dashboard.

Vehicle was in motion, approaching freeway ramp when suddenly the sunroof exploded. Good weather conditions, approximately 11:00 a. M. , 04/13/17. Fortunately the inside shade panel was closed.

The contact owns a 2007 Toyota Camry. While driving various speeds, the dashboard created a glare that caused the driver's vision to be obstructed. Bob tyler Toyota was contacted and stated that there was a warranty expansion on the condition of the dashboard that expired on may 31, 2017. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that the vehicle was no longer covered under the warranty expansion. The failure mileage was 189,000.
