general problems of the 2007 Toyota Camry

Contacted tmc and was told a recall was performed on my car in 2010 for excessive acceleration. However, after further investigation, I learned there was not one but two different recalls for similar circumstances(acceleration) and was not informed whether both were completed. I have had vehicle for approx. 5 years and have intermittently experienced the same problem. The last few weeks, it has happened more frequently and is becoming dangerous to drive! also, I was told, since the one recall was completed, tmc declined to address the recent problem. Is there a possibility the first recall was not completely sufficient for both. I hope I can get an answer, as I have run out of options. I don't believe I should have to pay for something that was supposedly fixed even 10 years ago! I would, again appreciate any help. Thank you.

All of a sudden, all of my warning lights came on including: brake light, check vcs system, abs, all of the exclamation lights, etc. . Ive been very diligent about the maintenace on y vehicle and had the codes read and reset, but they keep coming back on. The major issues are the abs, catalytic converter eror code & the abs making it difficult to break. Ive had it looked at and the mechanics are saying that this is a common problem. Also, the mirror visor on driver side stopped working & constantly falls down blocking my view. Its very dangerous! please advise Toyota of these issues. Ive already had the hybrid battery completely replaced and breaks & routers, but the codes showing are: •p0420 and •p1423, •c1391, - ask about a recall •b1241, •b2784, •b2281, •c2124 thank you so much!.

On July 11, 2021, my husband and I were driving to a location not far from our house, on a state road with a 45 mph speed limit, when "check hybrid system" and "check vsc system" warnings began alternately appearing and I lost acceleration. I turned on my hazard lights and was eventually able to pull off on the side of the road. I turned off all power then restarted, at which point the engine resumed working and we were able to continue driving, but the "check hybrid system" and engine light warnings remained on. We were able to reset the computer system by disconnecting the negative terminal of the auxiliary battery (which had been replaced a few months ago) for ten minutes, but I travel over 700 miles at least monthly to take care of my elderly blind father, and I don't want this to happen while I'm driving on I-95, when it's much more likely to result in a serious accident or fatality.

The excelerator pedel has a slight play in it when you first step down on the pedel.

Am a person who always get my oil change on time since I bought my car. However, over the last year, I have notice the following issues: my �oil pressure� light come on halfway through your maintenance schedule. My engine burn through as much as 1 quart of oil in 1,200 miles I took my vehicle into the Toyota dealership on August 10, 2017 located on 1000 blairs bridge rd, lithia springs, GA 30122. They checked my vehicle and told me the following: I was told that my engine burning through oil is �normal� and �nothing to be alarmed of� they acknowledge damaged, oil-deprived engine only to deny warranty coverage; they quoted me over 3,000 to get fixed two weeks later, I checked my oil and I was completely out of oil. Over time, this issue is getting worst. I have contacted Toyota corporate office with no resolution; I continue to leave messages. I would like to have my car fixed since this issue is common in 2007 solora's.

Tl- the contact owns a 2007 Toyota Camry. The contact stated that he would have to apply additional oil to the vehicle in between oil changes without warning. As time went on ,the contact start to have to add an additional gallon of oil in between oil changes. . The contact had yet to take the vehicle to a dealer or mechanic to be diagnosed. I have an excessive engine oil consumption problem so on March 2016, I go to the dealer to check and said that my car pass the test without any suggestion to follow on, I still has this problem and even more serious so I go back to check then the dealer said once pass is not their issue ,I wonder what is the standard the pass or not pass and I call the main Toyota office to ask for help and they said ,I can ask for the second test but I just pass their extended warranty that is just pass half a month ago. My question is I know my car has the problem but I has no suggestion what to do and they keep delay the care of my car until the warranty is gone . Actually my first approach this problem is still under the warranty period but that is not count?? I do not trust Toyota car any more and I am so worry about the safety of myself everyday while I driving this car. My car is just 10 years pass and driving only 97320mileages when I ask them about my worry second time. Hope any good suggest and help from you otherwise I need to give up my car.

Takata recall ive been waiting for the recall when I saw recall for the year and model and make I was like finally but come to find out the VIN number wasn't recalled but needs to be. Goes off and have to pull over to turn back on.

Recently the "abs" and "brake" light came up; now these light come up and stay on for some time- simultaneously; the needles of the mph, rpm, h/c, and gas gauge drops- the prm needles flicker up and down. Also, the temperature marker doesn¿t work. The mph hits down to ¿0¿ when I am on the road at normal speed. But I don't know my speed. My air conditioning system does not work when this happens. I also notice that it doesn't track the "trip¿ miles when it is out of control (although I haven¿t noticed if it fails to track the mileage on the odometer. Then this ¿problem¿ stops and the car goes back to "normal. " a few minutes later, the same problem. The problem can last for 5 minutes to 20 minutes. The car using 1qt of oil every 300 miles , Toyota ran oil consumption test , told me nothing wrong with the car , the car still using the same amount of oil .

My Toyota 2007 Camry is leaking excessive amount of oil, there was a recall , but I did not get notification of this problem ,until I was online searching for answers to find out why my car, was requiring so much oil, I saw a article which stated that this was a manufacture defect, I notified Toyota about this, they denied my claim. I even called the dealership where I purchased the car Mar jacobs in durham n. C. Mar jacobs stated that there was nothing he could do except try to ge me to buy a new car, no thanks , I just want my car fixed, because this affects my engine and if want to sale my car the value goes down, because of this manufacture defect. I am constantly buying oil for my car every week , which adds up in price. I would like or Toyota honor the recall , its not my fault that this happened to my car.

Air compressor no good had it replaced at the dealer but not working, replaced engine due to over use of oil dealership stated it was normal use.

- 2007 Camry has been consuming unreal amount of engine oil. - I took it to the delearship; and they mentioned replacement of pistons will be covered under factory warranty but if the engine is damaged they will not cover it. At this point, I am not even sure the piston is not working as it was supposed to. - the car was bought brand new and the defect on engine was brought to our attention only a month ago in 2015.

I was driving the Camry when I reached a complete stop my check engine light came on, didn't really notice any change, two days later I notice gas consumption has increased. I took the Camry into dealer, dealer diagnosed the check engine to be a faulty O2 sensor. Replaced O2 sensor and drove off to pick up my kids from school, as we are driving home, I came to a traffic light, I stopped and check engine light and abs light came on idle was disrupted briefly. I proceeded and when trying to stop car the brake pedal had become very tight to were I had to stomp on brakes with all my might to get car to stop. Drop kids off at home waited 15 minutes and started vehicle, abs light was off but check engine remained on, brake pedal was almost back to normal. I drove car to dealer again, the dealer said it is a faulty brake booster which is allowing too much air into system which in return signals for more fuel to be pumped to compensate vacuum leak. Brake booster not covered under extended warranty, and very costly 1,363. 16 parts, labor and taxes, not counting the 4 day rental. This concerns me because I beleive this to be a safety issue, if it were my wife driving the Camry with my kids she would not be able to stop the vehicle without any warning. Toyota needs to make this a safety recall before something tragic happens. I looked at Toyota forums and it seems I'm not alone, brake booster for several other Toyota models have gone bad, after 100,000 miles some at 70,000. 2007 Toyota Camry seems like a horrible guinea pig car.

The accelerator would not work even with accerelation. The engine is on but the accelerator pedal would not work.

Vehicle leaks or burns oil in excess from unknown location or undisclosed location by manufacturer. No oil visible on ground underneath car . Engine was not getting adequate lubrication due to this problem and thus caused engine failure. Vehicle was no longer able to accelerate on freeway and had to be pulled over putting vehicle owner at risk and other drivers on road in danger. The engine is now damaged and is unable to be repaired despite proper maintenance and recommended oil changes as per dealership and owners manual. The engine now has to be replaced. This leakage has been reported by over hundreds of unsatisfied customers and has purposely been disregarded by manufacturer despite the numerous complaints received and made by 2007 Toyota Camry owners. Many of which suffered like this owner and had to pay out of pocket for a new engine despite this being a manufacturer defect that has been neglected.

I was parking my car and when I went to stop car and turn it off, I experienced unexpected acceleration. Car jumped the curb and crashed into the concrete barrier of the parking garage.

Noticed my car had a knocking sound took it in to my mechanic to see what the problem was. I'm very particular about my car. The mechanic called to inform me the oil levels were extremely low, while he noticed it was close to needing an oil change but the levels shouldn't have been that low. His observation was my car is burning oil too fast. He called the dealership to question if there was an recall of such and the associate at the dealership mentioned a silent recall of this matter. He then informed me to take it in to the dealership, in which we did and was informed due to the powertrain warrenty has expired I could pay $5000+ to rebuild my moter or get my oil changed ever 3000 miles instead of 5000 miles. This I thought was a problem cause when I purchased my new 2007 Camryi was informed to change the oil every 5000 miles. It seems to be a manufacture defect cause I'm faithful about servicing my car and only take it to the dealership for oil changes and this should have been communicated to me a while ago. I'm hoping it doesn't cause any moter problems in the future.

On Nov. 23 2012 I was driving on the highway 61 in winona, mn "all of a sudden" my car speed was dropping from 65 mph to 15 mph in a matter of second and the check engine light came on. I have fight for my life to get out to the side of the highway. When the car stop I check the engine run fine, but when I step on the gas pedal nothing happen. I put the car into drive gear and it only go as fast 10 to 15 mph. This is the first time in my life that I see this thing, I would like to "warn" all Camry drivers becareful you may not have the luck I have. I make an appointment to the dealer for inspection.

My driver's side sun visor has fallen into my view. It is difficult to drive with this defect.

My mother was just moving my car from the drive way to inside our gate. My car is a Toyota 2007 Camry 4 door v6. My mom said she did not even step on the gas and the thing took off. The car went through the garage door, several antique furniture one of which is a 500 lb oak bar and then through the other side of the garage. Needless to say my mother was not injured.

On may 19, 2009 I was involved in a rear end accident. This occurred due to a faulty accelerator mechanism that caused unexpected burst of speed. This was the was the only occurrence of this problem. Toyota had a recall and did the required repairs.

I have a 2007 Camry 4cyldr automatic, that has problems accelerating. This usually happens at least once a day. For example if I take off from a red light or a stop, the car will hesitate like it is stalling and then will proceed to take off. This is an inconsistent problem that when I complained at the dealership they could not reproduce the problem. The other example is that the car exhibits is that when you take your foot off the gas pedal the car will slow down but as you re-apply your foot the car will hesitate or stall until you remove your foot and re-apply it. I have 60000 miles on my car and it has had all the timely services done to it. It has been a great car up until about a year ago when the problem began. Roughly 45000 miles ago. I fear that this may result in an inability to drive defensively and result in an accident. Neither my wife nor I are aggressive drivers, and we don't feel that this is as a result of harsh driving. I did take the car into the dealer to find out if it was part of the gas pedal recall that is going on and they said that it was not. I hope that Toyota will make a timely decision on this as I had hoped to purchase another Toyota in the future.

Hello, I own Camry le 07 and after I fill my car full fuel or gas I heard the fuel generate shaking sound when I press sudden brake and first of all I thought there is something in my trunk playing but after I concentrate to hear I found it is fuel shaking ,I just want to know is that could be problem or not. On 7/31/2007, I purchased a brand new Toyota Camry se from knoxville Toyota. On April 20, 2008, I was driving my Toyota Camry se westbound on route 26 just west of columbia, SC, at a speed of 60mph. I then hit my cruise control to increase the speed to pass a vehicle, when my accelerator stuck and my speed went almost immediately to 105 mph. All efforts to unstick my accelerator failed me. ( I am a 54 yr old retired fbi special agent who has often been in high speed pursuit- so I know how to handle vehicles at high speeds) traffic was relatively heavy, with a couple 18 wheelers, and several cars with families in front of me. I recalled there being a flyer of warning by Toyota on rubber mats, so I reached down, yanked the rubber mat off the floor and threw it into the back seat, all the while standing on the brake pedal, trying to get the car not to hit vehicles in front of me. Finally I put the car in neutral and coasted the car out of traffic. Smoke was coming out of my front brakes, and once on the right side median, I turned the car off. Let it cool down, then got back on rt 26. Less than five minutes later, while passing a slower vehicle, my accelerator stuck again, and the speed got to 95 mph before I put the car in neutral again and turned it off. I brought my car into the knoxville Toyota dealership 4/21/08 (complaint of 4/21/08 was documented at Toyota knoxville, po box 30069, knoxville TN. )and they put it on their machine and said "nothing was wrong. " for the next year, I experienced shimming of my front tires when braking. On 5/5/09, I paid over $171 to repair warped rotors. When the re-call occurred, I reminded them of my event, which appears to have been an electronic issue involving my cruise control on the first event. They put my car in to have their "fix" done to my accelerator, however I am not convinced it fixed my issue. I am very concerned that Toyota has hidden this problem from its customers, and I am not convinced this vehicle is safe.

The gas pedal automatically engaged itself causing the car to accelerate and hit the side concrete curb causing about $14500 damage.

I own a 2007 Toyota Camry and it has stalled numerous times. It is like when I pulled out from a stop sign or a stop light the car did not want to go. This problem has been going on for about 4 months. I took the car to Toyota of gastonia on April 19th 2007 for this problem , the technician told me he was going to do a work order, and it would take about 1 to 2 hrs. To fix it. Then shortly he came back and told me they were not going to be able to do anything to the car that he would call me back with an appointment in a couple weeks. Four weeks had gone by. I took the car back to Toyota of gastonia on may 17th 2007 another technician did another work order and the car was in the shop only about 30 mintues. Then they said the problem had been fixed. On may 20, 2007 my daughter was in the car with me when I was pulling out from a stop sign and it stalled on me again. For the third time I went back to Toyota of gastonia on may 21st a gentleman named greg did another work order on my car and scheduled an appt. For me to meet with a representative on Thursday may 24th at 1:00 pm. . Why do I need to be meeting with a representative and not someone in the service dept. Since this is a brand new car with only 7,000 miles.

Toyota needs to be held responsible 4 the unexpected acceleration of these vehicles. Make them test it under 32 degrees and the rpms will almost always increase and decrease abruptly though giving gas at a steady pace. It's happened every year every winter since I bought the car new. The pedal fix/recall was a slap in the face to those of us who suspect it is an engine or electrical issue. It must be tested in cold cold weather and upon the car just starting to run. It does seem to subside as the engine warms but on the next cold day the car tries to accelerate itself again.
