The contact owns a 2007 Toyota Camry. The push button starter failed to activate. The ignition failed to start after several attempts. However, the vehicle started after waiting for three to five minutes. The vehicle was able to continue in normal operation. The failure occurred intermittent which required a waiting period before an activation response. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer for diagnostic testing. A new starter button was ordered. The vehicle has not been repaired due to the unavailability of the part. The failure mileage was 7,800. The VIN was unavailable.
The contact owns a 2007 Toyota solara. He stated that while starting the vehicle he heard clicking noises from the starter and the vehicle would not start. The contact was able to jump start the battery so that he could drive it to the dealer. The dealer diagnosed the vehicle stating that it was the ignition wire that was touching the 2nd wire causing an open circuit draw, they explained that it was in a protective harness and that this should have never happened and that this is a manufacturer defect. There were repairs which included a replacement battery and the ignition wire harness which was repaired as well at the owners expense. The failure mileage was 24753 and current mileage was 24803.
