Excessive oil consumption after 1000 miles low oil pressure warning comes on.
Vehicle consumes an excessive amount of oil.
The contact's sister-in-law owns a 2008 Toyota Camry. The contact stated while his sister-in-law was driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle stalled inadvertently. There were no warning lights illuminated. Upon inspecting the engine, the contact noticed there was no engine oil in the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the vehicle had consumed an excessive amount of engine oil, causing the engine to fail. The independent mechanic advised the contact to tow the vehicle to the local dealer. The vehicle was then towed to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact that they could not assist as there was no recall associated with the VIN and the vehicle warranty had expired. The failure mileage was approximately 113,000.
Excessive oil consumption and vehicle acts like it wants to stall when trying to take off. It stalls when trying to take off after stopping at a red light, stop sign etc. I’m also drive 50 miles daily to work and back home. I’m putting in oil about every other day. No oils on ground, changed gaskets and oil changes- excessive consumption. I bought the car in 2014 from carmax.
Engine consume excessive oil due to faulty pistons and piston rings that Toyota was aware of.
I have had to add oil in between oil changes over the past 5 years, often twice between changes. After being told there was a recall of this specific issue from a mechanic, I then found out that it was beyond the length of time to get it repaired under the recall. I was then informed that I should have received a letter from Toyota in the mail stating there was a recall. I never received a letter about this recall. I took the car into the Toyota dealership in town about the issue and they said they could perform an oil test on it to see how much it was burning after 1,500 miles. Upon bringing it back I was informed that my car hadn't burned enough to their required amount (amount not disclosed to me) to do anything, but told me that I could always come back and have another oil test done. I find it very disturbing that this has been an ongoing issue and that there is a claim of a letter being sent to me when I never received one. It also appears that there are numerous individuals with this same year have had the same problems and nothing has been done about it. I am wondering if there has been an investigation to anything about the supposed letters that Toyota has claimed to mail out? it is overall bad business on Toyota's part to not ensure that their customers are taken care of enough to want to continue buying their vehicles. Will think twice before buying Toyota again.
Excessive engine consumption which started after 145,000 and because I don't put a lot of miles on my car. I am out of warranty which expired March 2018. I feel because the issue is a mileage issue this should be recall because of the number of cars involved. The car has lost mpg and takes one quart a month.
Car began loosing coolant and oil plus overheating while being driven. Both oil and coolant ran out in a matter of 3 weeks.
My Toyota Camry is consuming engine oil very fast, I filled the synthetic oil and drived just 250 miles one way, oil level coming down to minimum.
Engine consumes oil during operation. As much as 1 quart is consumed in less than 1,000 miles. Toyota is not standing by the fix or passes the test all the time.
The contact owns a 2008 Toyota Camry solara. While driving 45 mph, the contact felt very tired and pulled over in a parking lot to sleep for thirty minutes. When she awakened, the contact noticed a strong abnormal odor without warning. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that carbon monoxide leaked into the cabin of the vehicle. The vehicle was repaired. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer. The manufacturer asked the contact to take the vehicle to the dealer. The approximate failure mileage was 86,000.
2017 regular oil change I was told oil level was extremely low. No explanation given to me. I was told to regularly check oil level between changes. I have been adding oil regularly. Upon looking for answers on my own, I found out that this is a known problem with my vehicle! I talked to Toyota rep, and he admitted that 2 letters were mailed to me, none of which I received, regarding repair options by Toyota. This offer expired in 2018. I asked for address, they didn't have that info. So I asked if all communications from Toyota could be made by email, they said no. I feel extremely taken advantage of. I always used Toyota service to avoid problems like this. Customer service is lacking and I feel I should still qualify for a repair by Toyota.
Oil loss.
My car has been very well maintained, everything on-time. Back August, jiffy lube told us that my car is consuming about 2 qt every 3k miles. I read about it and it is a known issue with Toyotas, I need them to resolve my car issue because it is very expensive for me to carry with a manufacturer faults.
Uses excessive amounts of engine oil. I get my oil changed and vehicle serviced religiously, at Toyota, no less.
Excessive oil consuption.
I have a 2008 Toyota Camry with a 2az-fe engine that began using excessive amounts of oil after about 120k miles. I took it to my local dealership who told me it was normal to need to add oil every 1000 miles or so. Golf size hole in the engine according to the adjustor. Incident occurred while driving on the highway. The car was serviced on time. The oil light used to come on occasion along with the engine light. This was within service sticker window. Each time oil (1qt to 2qt) was added to the tank. On the date of incident, while driving, we felt like we drove over a metal object that impacted the engine. Cannot believe that the engine blew up on it own. If it did - that is a major issue as it could have caused unnecessary damages both to vehicle and drivers.
Started smoking, and pulled car to side of road. Then Camry was on fire. The whole engine was on fire. The car is totaled. It is not worth anything. Nothing can be salvaged at all the inside of car was burnt. Now I don't have a car. The insurance might not cover the car.
