Instrument Panel problems of the 2008 Toyota Camry

The contact owns a 2008 Toyota Camry. The contact stated that the sun visor would fall down without warning, blocking the view of the driver. Neither the dealer nor manufacturer were notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 35,000 and the current mileage was 39,000. The consumer stated the speedometer and odometer would act erratic. They would return to normal when the vehicle stopped. The contact owns a 2008 Toyota Camry. The contact stated that the dealer reprogrammed the computer system for recall 10v017000 (vehicle speed control, accelerator pedal). He also noticed that the brake system was not functioning properly after the recall repair was performed. The contact was driving approximately 75 mph when all of the warning lights on the instrument panel illuminated and the brakes failed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing. The dealer could not duplicate the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 90,000. The current mileage was approximately 93,000. Updated 05/11/10.

1) cruise control does not hold set speed when going down steep hills 2) instrument panel lights dim to the point of all most going out, regardless of were the dim control is set. Unable to predict when this will happen. Sometimes they go dark and come back on and other times they may stay off regardless of what I do. I wrote to Toyota on 12/11/2009 concerning these topics and have not received a reply. Another letter will be going out shortly. I am aware of what the manual says on these topics, but do not believe they should be happening. How long have they been building cars? no excuse for these problems.

2008 Toyota Camry instrument panel to bright. Consumer states that the radio on the right of the instrument panel is too bright and it draws your eyes off the road. They also say that the dimmer switch does not dim it enough for it not to be a distraction.
