Does Toyota know exactly how long the dashboard lasts and terminate their warranty a month prior. Car is not drivable due to shiny reflection of sun.

41 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 06/30/2017

I have a 2010 Toyota Camry, and this is the 3rd time I'm having to replace the visors in the car. The last replacement only 3 years ago (July 2014). The springs keep breaking, and the visors will not stay up nor will they stay all the way down. Therefore, it is obstructing my visibility while driving. I have never driven with my visors down. The only reason I ever put them down is when I put a thin little shade in the windshield while at work. Of all the vehicles I have ever owned, I have never had to replace visors, much less 3 times.

42 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 06/25/2017

Dash is sticky, melting, breaking down, and deteriorating since June 2017. No recall notice from Toyota. I had no idea that they had a lawsuit because of this issue until I researched to see if others had same problem. I just thought it was from the heat until I wasn't able to clean it or remove the stickiness and it was getting worse by the day. Fearful to drive my car,as the dash has been compromised. Anything that touches it leaves an imprint or indention. Anything that touches it sticks to it. When your diving there is glare from the residue that has been broken down and since everything sticks to it and you can't clean it off that makes it hard to drive because of the glare. Toyota has replace several dashes, but hat about the ones that have broken down after there time frame has elapsed? mine din't have any issues until after their time frame expired, so I'm I just out of luck and I'm supposed to repair their inferior product? I'm worried that if I were in an accident that the dash would just crumble and not protect my family or myself. I need help, I'm fearful to drive my car, but I have to since it's my only one. Shouldn't Toyota have sent out a recall notice to everyone that was affected?.

Serious problem as it happens at all speeds, including highway speeds. It cost $200. 00 to repair and repair will be delayed for many causing hazard on highway. Toyota acknowledged problem by recall but advises that they will fix problem only once.

47 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 02/14/2017

The car's dashboard has melted from sun exposure, leaving a shiny, glossy, sticky coating on it that, when hit by the sun at certain angles, causes a blinding glare into the driver's eyes and a bright reflection of the dash onto the windshield, resulting in limited visibility and blind spots. Toyota is aware of the problem that was caused by materials of insufficient quality and issued a warranty enhancement to fix the problem. Unfortunately, as a secondary owner of the vehicle, I was never informed of this and did not know the problem was widespread and material-related until I recently found that information online. The warranty extension period has now expired, but in cases like mine, the issue has not been fixed, leaving the vehicle with a condition that unnecessarily causes a safety deficiency.

"takata recall" I have a 2010 Toyota Camry. August 2016 I started noticing that the sun visor on the divers side was slightly retracting back into position (half position). 51 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 05/22/2016

Although we did not notice it at first, as the summer wore on the dash became more of a problem. I was headed from north carolina to ohio for my grandmother's funeral when I noticed the problem was more than just a sticky dashboard. When driving at night the glare from the dashboard reflects on the window creating a significant hazard when driving. Not exactly an ideal time to find out the car you had recently purchased was barely drive-able at night!.

52 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 04/14/2016

Takata recall I would like my car checked and repaired for all Toyota recalls as the 3rd owner of the vehicle. Thank you! peace!.

53 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 04/09/2016

My Toyota Camry has a melting dashboard that Toyota have replaced for 3. 4 million cars but they said we were 14 days out of their extended warranty period. We never had an y notice form them. We called head office who said they did not have our owner details so could not send us any notices. We gave them our details but they said we were still not able to get this fixed even though we were never informed.

54 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 04/04/2016

At first my sun visor fell off one evening when I was trying to block the sun from disrupting my view. Then as time went by, my dashboard started melting and becoming sticky. Like a goo. There is dirt and other debris stuck to it. Very gross and it is impossible to clean, with so much dirt on it I feel it is a health hazard to my kids and myself. I talked to Toyota a few days ago and they flat out told me that they cannot and will not fix it since the warranty was out. This was not something that I did, but the fault of the manufacturer. The goo causes a reflection on my windshield and it makes it difficult to see. This is a driving hazard, especially since I do not have a sun visor on my driver side since it has fallen off. I am asking for Toyota to do the right thing.

55 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 09/23/2015

The dash is lifting in the same such manor from other recalls from other vehicles that had the recall and I believe this should be under that recall as from the heat it make the dash start to lift in spots.

56 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 08/08/2015

The driver side sun visor (compartment) was broken and fell down under normal use. Since the visor edge is pointing to my forehead directly now as I am not able to put it back to its original position, this is going to be life-threatening in case of a car crash or anything like this. Checked on the internet, and found a lot of complaints on the same issue too. Unfortunately, this is not under any of Toyota's extended warranty or recall programs. I strongly believe this is manufacturing defect and should be recalled by Toyota. I would request that proper actions be taken before the issue manifests itself in a hazardous situation.

57 Equipment problem

Toyota over the telephone says it goes by the VIN number - but Toyota’s website states completely the total opposite - it states any vehicle painted with paint color 040 from 2008 -2017 model is eligible for a paint re- do?.

59 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 11/14/2014

Problem with dashboard sticky/melting/residue. Never used cleaning agents on it. I am the original owner, with less than 32,000 miles. Creates a terrible glare on windshield, making driving dangerous. Dealer is only one who has ever serviced my vehicle. . They state they know nothing of this problem. . Their body shop also is oblivious to problem (they tried an industrial cleaner to try to wipe it off. . To no avail). Now I find that I am not alone in this problem. . . The internet forum is "replete" with car owners of different makes/models of this same problem whether the vehicle in question has been garaged or not. Please help. . . On a "fixed" inmcome, cannot afford to replace this dashboard and my vehicle is in "pristeen" conditon with low mileage/excellent care. This problem more than warrants a "recall" as so many (myriad) car owners are now coming forward with this complaint. Only within the last year has this problem cropped up on my vehicle, which is 5 years old but only has under 32,000 miles.

Our Toyota Camry has been making extremely loud noises and knocking noises for over a year now. Keep getting told our Camry is not a recall but all the other Toyotas that have this same problem have been serviced and fixed and recalled or a TSB bulletin has been issued. . Just not ours ? this is ridiculous. I will never buy another Toyota ever now.

69 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 05/18/2014

On Sunday, may 18, 2014, I started my 2010 Toyota Camry and my check engine and vehicle stability control lights were on. I had no previous issues with the car. I called the local dealership on Monday morning to make an appointment, the first one I could get was just over a week away. I questioned the dealership if my car was safe to drive and they said yes, as long as the vsc light wasn't blinking. My car was checked by the dealership on may 27. I was told my brake actuator had gone out and the repairs were around $2,400 before taxes. The check engine light was from a charcoal canister that needed to be replaced, another $500+. The parts had to be ordered and it was may 30 when my car was ready. When questioning the dealership about why my brake actuator had gone out, they assured me that it was nothing I had done and they said they've had problems with others going out. After searching online I found that other models by Toyota have had recalls for the brake actuator. If the company is having problems with the same piece of equipment in other models, the recall should be expanded. Mine was not included in the recall, but it was faulty and failed. After searching, I also found there have been various issues with the charcoal canister as well in various models by the company. Perhaps research should be done on this issue also. My car is 4 years old and when I took it to the shop it had 54,259 miles. I called Toyota and they reiterated that my vehicle was not included in any recalls; therefore, at this point Toyota could do nothing about the repair.

Customer by css web (08/20/2019 12:23 pm) my 2010 Camry dashboard has melted to an uncleanable tarlike sticky substance. I need help because it reflects on my windshield and I cannot see through it. I have to bend sideways to see around it to drive. Please email me how I can clean my dashboard. Question reference # 190820-000288 date created: 08/20/2019 12:23 pm CT on may 1, 2014, my 2010 Camry dashboard started looking greasy and shiny. I did the best I could to clean it with several different car cleaning solutions, which at the time did help. I tried pure rubbing alcohol. I even tried a vinegar and water solution. I also took my car to be washed and detailed. I was informed that they could not get the sticky solution off and that I needed to take it to a Toyota dealer. , when I took it to the Toyota dealer, I was informed that I had just missed the extended repair date and to contact Toyota, so on August 20, 2019. I contacted Toyota. Com and was informed that I had missed the extended repair end date and that I can pay my Toyota dealer to replace my dashboard myself. . I never received a notice from Toyota about the extended date or any recall notice about this issue. They said they sent them out and if I did not receive it, they could not do anything about it now. They told me this on a phone call to me. They would not even put their response in writing. I truly believe Toyota is responsible for this repair, so I think other Toyota owners should be notified.
