The contact owns a 2014 Toyota Camry. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the hybrid system warning light illuminated, prompting the contact to discontinue driving the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who diagnosed a failure with the hybrid propulsion system battery. The contact was informed that the hybrid battery showed signs of arcing. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 123,000.
The radio buttons as well as buttons on steering wheel are unresponsive. In addition the front bumper corner piece near the wheel keeps popping off of the car.
The contact owns a 2014 Toyota Camry. The contact stated while parked and starting the vehicle, the air conditioner unit failed to function. The vehicle was driven to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the air conditioner compressor failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and a case was opened. The failure mileage was 70,000.
The ac compressor failed right before the average life of the average ac compressor. And if you look at Toyota Camry from 2012 thru 2013, there were recalls on ac compressors, so I find it hard to believe it is a coincidence that the 2014 ac compressor failure shouldn't also have a recall just like 2012 and 2013. It sounds to me like Toyota is not being honest here.
There is a transmission shudder when traveling around 30-40 mph as well as sporadically when increasing speed. Recently, there is a very hard shift/jolt when transmission is shifting from 2nd to 3rd. The issue is caused by a combination of a faulty torque converter and a software glitch in the engine control module (ecm). This is a safety hazard, and I contacted Toyota north America who told me that they can't do anything. However, to fix the problem that Toyota issued the recall themselves, Toyota dealers need to replace to the torque converter and update the ecm software. I am reaching out to the NHTSA because this is a safety hazard, and I hope you are able to help me.
The vehicle has an issue with the radio the steering wheel controls do not work the touch screen does not work the buttons around the radio does not work there is also an issue with the transmission between 20 mph and 25 mph in extreme shutter happens that cuts off goes away there is no transmission light lit there is no check engine light lit I am completely at a loss to figuring out the repair I do not want to spend thousands and thousands of dollars to have it repaired with a mechanic shop I have noticed that with the 2014 Toyota Camry 95% of the vehicles all have the same issue transmission shutter and the electrical issue with the radio this is a very extremely common issue and I wish they would have it recalled and repaired because Toyota Camry 2014 is a very good reliable vehicle only it has issues and it has issues with a lot of the exact same vehicle I have read forum after forum in regards to the radio I cannot repair it I had tried to replace the entire unit and the unit that I had replaced it with is doing the exact same thing I am terrified to open the transmission because nine times out of 10 I will not figure out the issue I could pay thousands and thousands of dollars to have the transmission replaced or repaired but I don't feel like it should be the owners issue or responsibility to repair the vehicle when 90% of the vehicles out here have the exact same issues due to manufacturer issue really hoping they recall this it will give Toyota a better look I have also noticed that no matter how many times I reset the tire pressure sensor monitor and ensure that all tires have the correct amount of air that the tire light will not go off and will not go away these issues have been around for a very long time since I've had the vehicle and no matter the amount of time and amount of money I spend putting into the vehicle for parts the issues will not go away.
The contact owns a 2014 Toyota Camry . The contact stated that only the driver side front door automatic lock failed. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer and was told they needed a new actuator. The contact did not have the vehicle repaired. The contact stated later all of the door's actuators failed and had to be locked and unlocked manually. The contact did not return to the dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 125,000 .
Timing chain snapped- causing irreversible damage to the engine. I now need a new engine for the vehicle.
The torque convert creates a shudder when under light load between 35- 50mph. Initially it was happen sporadically and when it was initially noticed it was always on the same stretch of road which prompt me to think it was the road surface. Only after about a year of this did it appear to happen more often and at different areas. With more attentive driving I narrowed down the speed and conditions. I have had my oil change at the dealership every time since getting the car with 6k miles. At my service 1/7/23 I asked a technician and he said it is a known issue on the torque converter. Toyota warranty enhancement program ze5 is meant to replace for 8 years from first use or 150,000, whichever comes first. Toyota claims they reached out to each owner but in my case I was the second owner and was not notified. Toyota is refusing to honor the repair. My vehicle is had 137552 miles when I was informed of the recall but the issue had been going on for more than a year and had Toyota informed me of the condition at any service time the problem would have been addressed within their arbitrary 8 years. The vehicle is still within the 150,000 and I ask that the NHTSA request that Toyota remove the "whichever come first of the eight years or up to 150,000 miles. They made no effort to inform me and I am concerned that I may loose power while driving or overtaking. Toyota quote $4000 for the repair. Other failing item is the sporadic failure of the bsm. It will light up the bsm on the dash. Turn the system on and off a few times and it appear to reset but I am unsure if it is truly working. Front passenger door actuator does not always lock or unlock. The car will flash the lights and appear locked but the passenger door is not locked. Risk of theft and not knowing if the manual lock holds- I believe a class action lawsuit exist for the actuators.
While stopped at a red light with my foot on the brake pedal only, the power switched from the battery of this hybrid vehicle to gas and started racing, causing the vehicle to accelerate and move through the crosswalk and into the intersection. ? had there been pedestrians in the crosswalk or traffic at the intersection, the outcome could have been tragic. I applied pressure to the brake which did not readily stop the vehicle until it had crossed into the intersection. Once the engine stopped racing and the car has come to a halt, I pulled the vehicle to the side of the road and tested it to determine if I could still drive it. I reported the problem to the dealer and they kept the vehicle for 2 days. I could feel the difference in the way the loaner vehicle performed. They indicated the problem was fixed although no other information was disclosed. Without reading the receipt, I drove the vehicle again, constantly alert to the problem and when the engine started racing and the vehicle started moving forward. I lifted my foot off the brake and kept slamming it against the brake pedal to stop the vehicle. I was recovering from an ulcer on the bottom of the second toe of my right foot which started bleeding leaving a wide hole on the underside of my toe. I reported this to my podiatrist who scheduled me for an emergency appointment. The phalanges in that toe were had been demolished by the force applied. The tendons had separated and the toe could not be salvaged. I was sent to the hospital to have the toe amputated and to see if the metatarsals could be spared. I went back to the dealership and the only work they did during the course of the week was to tint the windows that I begged them not to do. I have been unable to drive the vehicle.
When accelerating from a stop the vehicle will sometimes move about 10 feet and then hesitate for about 1 to 2 seconds. It will then accelerate normally. One time the vehicle accelerated to about 20 mph and then the engine rpm returned to idle. The accelerator was pushed to the floor and the rpm remained at idle. The accelerator was released and pushed down again. The vehicle accelerated normally. This happened only one time. The intermittent hesitation is very dangerous when trying to cross a busy intersection when the cross traffic is uncontrolled. The vehicle was taken to the dealership for the problem. The technician could not duplicate the condition. The u760e torque converter shudder recall upgrade was performed. This did not fix the problem. The service advisor said that the technician said that some transmission hesitation was normal. The service advisor also said there had been other complaints about this condition. This condition is dangerous and not normal.
My vehicle’s radio buttons/screen no longer function along with the buttons on my steering wheel. This creates a problem as I use the hand free option on many occasions. It’s come to my attention I am not the only person this has happened to.
On random occasions, key in the ignition won't turn at all, regardless of stepping on the brake and moving the steering wheel at the same time. Sometimes, I was able to turn the key after trying again in 5 minutes. Once, it worked after 25 minutes of trying. Not a consistent issue, but I never know when and where it may happen again. Not sure if it is "available for inspection upon request". Don't believe that the car has been inspected by a service center or anyone else yet. While my safety was not put in jeopardy at those specific moments, it could be a safety issue in the future, because I may have to drive someone to a medical facility or I may need to leave an environment that has become unsafe, and I would be stranded for however long, if the ignition abruptly gets locked.
I had my breaks changed back in July, before I left on military orders. When I came back home, I noticed my car wasn't working properly. I would have to press really hard for them to work. Or they would still be engaged like, making it harder for me to drive. As well my car would rev up, in park mode. Or while I'm waiting at a red light or stop sign. I've noticed a popping sound on left side of my car as well. My electric system will sometimes cut off everything in my car. I will have to turn car off wait a few mins and turn it back on. I have had check engine lights come on, I took it to body shop. They ran a test on it. And stated everything was fine, and rest codes. I use this car to and from work. I get frequently maintenance checks. The only thing I've had done to care was replacement of head light from a deer hitting me. I've noticed malfunction prior to deer hitting me. I was told by body shop to report issues.
2014 Toyota Camry se . . I was driving down the road and turned on my lights , as I did the entire dash lit up and the car almost stalled , got home and noticed my key fob wouldn't lock the doors , got back in to start it and it did nothing , no power to anything . I waited a few and then it started right up but the clock and radio had to reset , clicking noise on right side after car was off , backed up and power steering stopped . Mechanic couldn't duplicate the issue after a month , got the car back and it worked fine until this morning , wouldn't start , then started and the power steering light came on and the car sputtered as I turned on the lights , now there's no power to the car at all ( key fob doesn't work, won't turn over ) when this happens the radio goes off and back on and the clock stops working.
The fog light at the bottom of the bumper caught on fire. The fireman stated the have never seen that before. He also stated it was an electrical problem. For me too report it to Toyota.

The vehicle was repaired but shortly after the battery became faulty. The dealer exchanged the battery. The manufacturer had been informed of failure and send an investigator to see his vehicle. The failure mileage was 7,754. Dp.
I was driving during night with lights on at hiway speed and all interior and exterior lights went out while driving 70 mph in pitch black! I had to guess where I was on curved overpass. I tried flicking the hi/low beam switch, but that didn't help. Couldn't get lights to come on until stopped, shut off car and restarted it. Has happened twice since I bought it new. First time was prior to any body damage, second time it wasn't completely pitch black so not as dangerous. Another trip we were on 4 lane interstate driving through a city and someone else had hit an orange construction barrel and it had flipped up into air and we hit it at hiway speed on left front corner of car. Had to replace bumper, headlight, washer fluid tank, repair fender. Air bags never went off. I am an emt and another day was driving to a gunshot call at 80 mph and reached for pager as it was falling and front wheel dropped off shoulder and I knew not to correct it, so just kept straight and came to stop in snow filled ditch. Air bags did not deploy. I had to get it towed out, and the tow truck driver indicated that it was a difficult ditch to get it out of. Had get get it realigned and replace right front headlight, bumper, and some other plastic pieces. Third time we were t-boned at an intersection in town, would estimate less than 30 mph, and air bags did not deploy. Damage was bad enough it was not driveable anymore and insurance company totaled the car out. We bought the car back to repair it to continue driving it, but now I am thinking that was a poor decision as I wonder about the safety of it. The last accident has me very shook up and I am waiting to have surgery on my neck now because of it. I wonder if the side air bags had worked, would I need to have my neck fused.
2014 Toyota Camry. Consumer writes in regards to vehicle being hacked and hackers gaining control over stereo system.
The front door locks no longer operate by remote. This is not a remote problem since my rear door locks do respond. I believe the front door lock actuators have failed on both the driver and passenger sides. The repairs for this will cost hundreds of dollars. There is currently a class action lawsuit in California. I think this is a wide spread problem.
Touch screen radio bass control stopped working wurring noise from steering wheel while I turn wheel in reverse backing passenger airbag off light is on and won't turn off.
Car in motion on curve in city street. Pushed rear window defrost button. Radio went off. Headlights went off. Steering very hard to use. Electric power steering (eps) dash indicator light came on. Within 2 seconds all returned to normal. This occurred two times.
Touchscreen does not work 100%. As you travel down toward the bottom of the screen, the touch sensor is off. When you get to the bottom of the screen, you can not successfully touch any icons within around the bottom inch of the screen. This does affect syncing a new hands free device. This makes it a safety issue since you cannot sync a new phone or bluetooth device for safe driving. This vehicle is driven in pennsylvania and maryland.
Steering system warning showing and have no power, hard time to restart the engine.
First noticed last year 2018. Heat and a/c controls seemed to be fluctuating. A/c stopped blowing cold air a few times, until I started driving a few more miles, worked somewhat. Now March 2019, a/c seemed to be getting warm it is not blowing cold air and the outside air control stays on but should not with the a/c control. Heat seems to work on and off, just not working properly. This is all while driving. I leased this car, the only owner, garaged and only 41k miles. I also got a weird smell one time but can't remember when it was. I am going to call flemington Toyota and see what they say. Probably not covered. I am still making payments and that is so distressing and disheartening.
Touch screen controls are becoming non responsive starting at lower right hand corner. Google search shows this is very, very common in 2014 and 2015 Toyotas. Can' t pair phone with bluetooth anymore, since "add" button is in lower right corner of screen. Also very distracting while driving, when buttons never or intermittently respond! contacted Toyota dealers and Toyota headquarters. One dealer admitted being aware of the issue, but all say Toyota hasn't issued a recall or warranty extension! safety issue with driver distraction!!!!.
Dead battery after car is idle for 3-4 days, this has happened 3 times.
takata recall on Dec. 20, 2017 the sound in my Toyota Camry went out. The local dealership here in grenada,ms informed me on using these procedures to get the isssue token care of. I️ bought my 2014 Camry brand new I️ am the first owner.
For the fourth time, an actuator in my 2014 Camry le failed. I now have had four different actuators fail in my car. This as a safety issue. Most consumers expect that if the car has an auto-lock feature as ours has that it will do so. If one depresses the remote lock button, or the lock button on the driver's door, they expect all doors will lock. Our doors fail in all these ways. Having four locked doors in our sedan is a vital safety feature, both during movement, and while parked. We bought our Camry as a new car in 2014. Approximately one year ago at 31k miles, the rear, left actuator failed. The oem part cost $341. I purchased a replacement, and fixed at my expense in March, 2018. The day of the repair, the front passenger side failed. I called Toyota experience. I asked for assistance to which their response was a $200 refund on a new actuator purchase from a Toyota dealer. The cost of new oem part was $329, plus, installation. I would have to foot the difference and jump through various hoops to seek a re-imbursement. In early November 2018 the front, driver door actuator failed. Really, three actuators going bad on one car starting with a three year old automobile, garaged and very well maintained, with only 31,000 miles? in mid November the rear, passenger side did not properly lock. Now all the actuators in our car have gone bad in the last year! this is a safety and welfare issue. We constantly worry if any of the doors auto-lock on movement. Similarly, we worry that if a door is left unlocked we could be victimized with an unauthorized entry with loss of personal property, vandalism or assault. As we have never experienced similar problems with door lock mechanisms since we started driving (late 1960s), we think this is a safety and quality control issue that Toyota should remedy.
On changing cellular service this year, I got a new phone. Instructions to enter it into the Camry's bluetooth were unsuccessful, because, as I found out after taking the Camry to Toyota for service, the bottom half of the touch screen no longer works. As a result, to use the cell phone in the car I have to hold it in my hand and work the phone. I was told by Toyota that the car is out of warranty and that they will not fix the problem. This creates a safety problem, apparently so prevalent in Toyotas that it can be googled online.
The battery drains if the car is parked and not driven for more than a day or two. The dealer checked the issue and couldn't find anything. This issue occurred before; about 2 months ago. Having to drive around with a portable jump kit in my trunk just in case.
Ac condenser unit plugs and creates mold and bad smell from vents. Mold causes people with allergies to start having reactions. In addition, there is concern that the accumulated water may then leak through a seam in the housing onto the air bag control module potentially resulting in a short circuit of the module. A short circuit may cause the air bags to become disabled or inadvertently deploy. This is similar to 2013 Camry model recall. Nhtsa campaign number: 13v442000. I think the recall should extend to 2014 Camry model as well.
Rear suspension bad make bumps in both tires, that cause noise wen runnig,im take to the dealer where I buy to alignment rear wheel but dont help. . Tires worst bad. Shock donnt shows any leaks, and the brakes im feel dont works properly. Delays in press or something and radio touchy screen don't work!.
Intermittently, the button start will not cause the car to start. It happens most often at temperatures around 50f. The car will indicate that it recognizes that a key is nearby (green key icon on the dash) but when the brake is depressed and the button is pushed, only the electronics of the car turn on. The car, though, refuses to turn over. We have taken this issue to a Toyota dealer and, of course, they are unable to recreate the issue. They are also unable to find any cause for this problem. I suspect that it could be a grounding issue of the battery. But further testing of that hypothesis has proven me wrong, so far. I have seen similar problems online but no one has been able to offer a fix.
