general problems of the 2014 Toyota Camry

Starting in 2023, around 80,000 miles, my 2014 Toyota Camry hybrid has started pulling to either side under braking. I replaced the pads & rotors at my local Toyota dealer in September and it actually made the problem worse. November 22 of this year, the master technician at my dealership found multiple lower suspension bolts loose. They re-torqued everything to spec and the issue has not been resolved. I have reached out to Toyota corporate and informed them of the issue. Parts have been ordered for a separate customer support program to fix the brake booster system, which makes noise in the pedal, but is independent of this complaint. We will be reinspecting in greater detail to provide information to Toyota.

My car pulls back as I'm driving and or breaking. Specially when im in the freeway passing 40 miles per hour. Have take. It to get check but they tell me it's a computer glitch between engine and system. I'm concern it may cause a problem on the road.

While stopped at a red light with my foot on the brake pedal only, the power switched from the battery of this hybrid vehicle to gas and started racing, causing the vehicle to accelerate and move through the crosswalk and into the intersection. ? had there been pedestrians in the crosswalk or traffic at the intersection, the outcome could have been tragic. I applied pressure to the brake which did not readily stop the vehicle until it had crossed into the intersection. Once the engine stopped racing and the car has come to a halt, I pulled the vehicle to the side of the road and tested it to determine if I could still drive it. I reported the problem to the dealer and they kept the vehicle for 2 days. I could feel the difference in the way the loaner vehicle performed. They indicated the problem was fixed although no other information was disclosed. Without reading the receipt, I drove the vehicle again, constantly alert to the problem and when the engine started racing and the vehicle started moving forward. I lifted my foot off the brake and kept slamming it against the brake pedal to stop the vehicle. I was recovering from an ulcer on the bottom of the second toe of my right foot which started bleeding leaving a wide hole on the underside of my toe. I reported this to my podiatrist who scheduled me for an emergency appointment. The phalanges in that toe were had been demolished by the force applied. The tendons had separated and the toe could not be salvaged. I was sent to the hospital to have the toe amputated and to see if the metatarsals could be spared. I went back to the dealership and the only work they did during the course of the week was to tint the windows that I begged them not to do. I have been unable to drive the vehicle.

I believe it was 6/23/22, I was stopped in traffic on i35 and i30, traveling south toward waco. I was in stop and go traffic at the bottom of the ramp. As I was stopped, the car accelerated forward and hit a work truck in front of me. The construction truck had a rotating tire hoisted on its rear end. My car received front end damage by the rotating wheel. The truck was not damaged. I reported the incident to allstate. The car was not repaired because a few months later, I had an accident involving an uninsured driver who ran a red light and totaled my car.

May 8 2022 the vehicle was parked when I took it out of park it accelerated even when I repeatedly slammed on the brakes it continued to accelerate. It caused me to hit another vehicle and almost into a house. Airbags didn't deploy either. . . . Prior to the incident a check hybrid system was the only warning I guess the vehicle had given. Which we had a appointment to get checked tomorrow. May 9th 2022.

When accelerating from a stop the vehicle will sometimes move about 10 feet and then hesitate for about 1 to 2 seconds. It will then accelerate normally. One time the vehicle accelerated to about 20 mph and then the engine rpm returned to idle. The accelerator was pushed to the floor and the rpm remained at idle. The accelerator was released and pushed down again. The vehicle accelerated normally. This happened only one time. The intermittent hesitation is very dangerous when trying to cross a busy intersection when the cross traffic is uncontrolled. The vehicle was taken to the dealership for the problem. The technician could not duplicate the condition. The u760e torque converter shudder recall upgrade was performed. This did not fix the problem. The service advisor said that the technician said that some transmission hesitation was normal. The service advisor also said there had been other complaints about this condition. This condition is dangerous and not normal.

When my car takes off it hesitate to move and when it does it take off. Something in the tires pop when you drive.

I had my breaks changed back in July, before I left on military orders. When I came back home, I noticed my car wasn't working properly. I would have to press really hard for them to work. Or they would still be engaged like, making it harder for me to drive. As well my car would rev up, in park mode. Or while I'm waiting at a red light or stop sign. I've noticed a popping sound on left side of my car as well. My electric system will sometimes cut off everything in my car. I will have to turn car off wait a few mins and turn it back on. I have had check engine lights come on, I took it to body shop. They ran a test on it. And stated everything was fine, and rest codes. I use this car to and from work. I get frequently maintenance checks. The only thing I've had done to care was replacement of head light from a deer hitting me. I've noticed malfunction prior to deer hitting me. I was told by body shop to report issues.

Car was parked on a driveway, and, when put in reverse, the car accelerated at high speed for roughly 60 feet until it ran into a hill. Then, when put in drive, car accelerated at high speed for roughly 90 feet and ran through heavy vegetation and then into and partially through a garage wall. Brakes were applied during the entire incident with no effect. Causes of failure are unknown. Cost to repair car is about $9000. Cost to repair garage, landscaping, and contents are not yet know.

Just about completely stopped at stop sign at end of street - without warning car accelerated extremely fast, crossed 2-lane street - drove into church parking lot on an incline turned and back across the 2-lane street and my vehicle hit neighbor's truck head on. Both cars totalled. Had absolutely no control of steering and brakes did not stop the vehicle. Police took report - my passenger and I told the same sequence of events as well as a neighbor who saw everything that happened. Every single airbag went off.

When the car starts traction control, abs, and brake lights come on. This locks the shifter ans leaves the car without abs and traction control protection.

After failing brakes a major impact happened and the airbag did not deploy.

Pulling our 2014 Camry into our garage at very low speed when the rubber brake pedal pad came off causing my foot to slide off the pedal resulting in the car striking the step leading into our house. I brought our car back to the Toyota dealer where we purchased the vehicle. The service department informed me that this was not their first complaint regarding the rubber pad falling off. The only guidance they offered me was to use "gorilla glue" to render the rubber brake pedal pad more secure. I believe that the ease in which the rubber pad can separate from the brake pedal is a serious safety issue.

The car had been given us stall peoblems for quite a while. The Toyota place could not duplicate the events. On Feb 2 1918 my wife drove over to my daughters house . She pull into yard,and when she applied the brake about 30 feet from house,the car exceletrated into house wide open. She said when she applied brake it went all the way to the floor. All airbags deployed. The house was damaged,knocking out the floor joist. She had pulled into house at 113 ida st. Hot springs ar. The house sits about 50 feet from street. Since the accident she is having memory problems. The vehicle was declared total loss. We purchased a 2017 Toyota Camry le,with about the same miles on it. We are having the same stall problems with it. If you stop the pull out and turn into traffic,sometimes it will stall1 to 3 seconds. We are deeply worried about getting hit by oncomming drivers. .

The abs traction and break light came on. You turn can off turn it back on they go off. Then today couldn't get it out of park.

While at a low rate of speed and usually coming to a stop, the brake, abs, and stability traction control dash lights will illuminate in the dashboard and will not turn off until car is restarted. This happens almost every time I use vehicle since about two months ago, it does not seem to affect normal braking during nice weather outside. I am concern during wet weather, the abs and/or traction control may fail and cause an accident. Car has only about 16,000 miles on the odometer, but unfortunately is out of 3 year warranty.

Twice when I had to suddenly hit the brakes, the car did not stop. The second time, the steering locked up completely so I could not steer or stop the vehicle. Eps light came on, stayed on all day until took to dealer who claimed light was not on and nothing wrong with vehicle.

On may 25, 2017, while pulling into parking space at a shopping center, my 2014 Toyota Camry accelerated out of control thru the parking space without me pressing the gas pedal. I pressed the brakes and it did not stop the car. My car continued to travel at a high rate of speed thru the parking lot embankment and went thru brushes/shrubs which is where the car stopped after it blew a tire and was stopped by the shrubs. Due to the damage under the car it was a total loss.

While slowly pulling into a parking place, car suddenly accelerated. Applied the brakes, but they did not work. Crashed into a bush and the side of the building where I work. Put car in neutral and applied brakes again. . Then put it in park. Airbags did not deploy and there is approx. $1,000 damage to front fender and headlight on drivers side. Am leasing this car and lease is up in under 90 days. I want to trade this immediately but want to report issues with this car so that Toyota will fix it before someone else gets it.

Sudden unintended acceleration in 2014 Toyota Camry. Incident occurred Saturday October 15, 2016 in corinth, texas. Approximately 5:20pm. Weather was sunny and clear. Road conditions clear and dry. Outside air temperature approximately 80f. Driving 30mph approaching an intersection. We have the red light. Brakes applied. Brake pedal goes to the floor - no brakes at all. Immediately the engine revs up to very high rpm and unintentional, out-of-control acceleration takes place. The car goes through the intersection against the red light. No cross-traffic or otherwise there could have been a serious crash. The car is accelerating on its own. The transmission is aggressively moved into the "park" position. The car stops. Braking action returns. The engine continues to run however the rpm returns to normal. The car is cautiously driven at 35 - 40mph to local Toyota dealer - Toyota of denton, texas. If the car approaches 50mph the engine begins to rev up to high rpm however braking action remains normal. This incident has left the owners with no confidence in Toyota. The car is not trustworthy. Even if the service technicians say the car is good to go, would you allow your family members to drive this car? no way. And with Toyota's reputation over the last 10 years with handling the sudden unintended acceleration problems would you trust this car? no way. We want to be done with Toyota. The car needs to be sent to the junkyard. And we want the purchase-money loan cancelled and our down payment back. And we will go to another car manufacturer.

Brake problems at 38,000 miles. Per dealer need to pay $1500 for brake booster. This is certified vehicle by Toyota. Factory warranty expired at 36000 and Toyota certified warranty expired a month ago.

Brakes on this car has always been kind of spongy and brake pedal goes down very far before they engage. One day driving along, I came to a stop light, and as I pressed the brake pedal it seemed to accelerate but stopped just short of the bumper of a police officer. I complained about it to the dealer during warranty but they said the pedal was normal after checking it. Even after changing brake pads and rotors there is still a very spongy feel to the brake pedal which is kind of scary as it goes very low and always has/.

Driver was slowing down, coasting before applying brake to turned left into driveway. Driver applied brake and car accelerated very strong but brief; driver then applied brake very firmly, and car stopped; but by this time, car missed driveway entry, and had to back up to restart entry. Driving down highway at 60mph. Vehicle down the road slowed to enter merchant lot. Applied brake. Something snapped, steering locked, wheels locked, tires kicked out. Total loss of control of the vehicle. Skidded down the road until impacting the other vehicle on the side, pushing it back into traffic and continuing several feet until coming to rest in the ditch about 30 feet from several vehicles in the merchant lot. Tie rod broke. No airbags deployed, though I was told it was because of where my vehicle was hit was why they didn't deploy.

I was driving from shopping center onto hwy 111 ,as I saw the red truck in front at the intersection. I began to brake ,and notice the vehicle was not slowing down after several attempts to the brakes. Me ,and my wife sustain whiplash from hitting a truck from the rear. My wife went to the doctor clinic. Police officer checked the brakes ,and confirm that the brakes had gone out.

The Toyota Camry 2014 is designed so that you may take your 'key fob' and leave the car without putting it in park turning off the motor putting the parking brake on how stupid is this! you then have a google self driving car without you in it. You could even run over yourself.

Engine has low (rpm) 650-670 when stopped with brake applied on slight incline when brake is released car rolls backward befor gas can be applied. The car directly behind me if too close, can be hit by my car rolling backwards idle rpm should be increased too 750-800 to rectify this problem Toyotal said they can not adjust the idle rpm.
