general problems of the 2015 Toyota Camry

I am writing to report a serious incident involving my 2015 Toyota Camry le (VIN: [xxx] ), which I believe is connected to a potential defect or recall issue. On [xxx], I was involved in a car crash that resulted in my vehicle being totaled. The circumstances of the crash strongly suggest that it was caused or exacerbated by issue sudden loss of power steering assistance the details of the crash are as follows: date/time: [xxx] location: [xxx] fall river while driving at low speeds, I experienced a sudden loss of power steering, making it difficult to control the vehicle and avoid a collision. I am deeply concerned about the potential safety implications of this issue and believe it may be related to [NHTSA campaign id 15v144000 or defect steering electric power assis information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

The sunroofs have a drain which sometimes can plug up. This car was maintained several times a year since purchase by Toyota dealer. When the drain plugged up this fall, water backed up and came down inside of the passenger compartment on top of the electrical fuses, body computer. The leak is not detectable by owner or occupant. But when it manifests itself, it does so with the blind spot monitor failing randomly, the seat belt warning lights might or might not work, the airbag safety system fails, sometimes the whole instrument dash acts erractic including random on/off blinking, the tire pressure monitoring system fails. All these problems can occur before owner is ever aware of the problem. Since one of the items that is getting corrosion is a fuse block - potential fire while parked in a garage or while being drive is a possibility. In an accident failure of air bags can result in a fatality. I'm an engineer, so when things started blinking on dash - I took pictures or had another occupant take pictures. I showed them to the dealer service - they didn't make the connection with corrosion on the body computer that monitors and manages all the systems including the anti-lock and rollover system. It's in for repair at dealer now, now idea on the cost - but they've said damage is extensive and we caught it before most people encounter it. I checked and could find no Toyota service bulletin that warned to look for the problem, repair techs had vehicle for week trying to find problem - and it took me insisting on looking for corrosion before they found it. This should result 1)Toyota special service bulletin to inspect every year and verify sunroof drain not blocked. 2) read diagnostics codes of the body network computer for issues, 3)Toyota special service recall to repair damage free to customers.

I have the same issue described in a recall notice for my year make and model. My eps light is coming on and I'm losing power to the vehicle. My VIN was not included in the recall. Steering: electric power assist system recall date 2015-03-12 recall no. 15v144000. This is very concerning as it could cause an accident resulting in injuries or death. I would like to have my vehicle checked for the recall.

Intermittent eps warning light illuminates during highway driving with steering wheel lock-up subsequently followed by a reset of certain electrically powered items associated with but not necessarily limited to the following systems: 1. Stability control system warning indication 2. Tpms light 3. Radio power cycles 4. Check engine light. After turning the car off and then back on again these issues clear initially, but will intermittently happen at random durations of time anywhere from an additional 1 to 3 hours of driving. I've been discussing with Toyota customer service, who has known issues with the 2015 Toyota Camry under NHTSA campaign 15v144000, but they are trying to tell me that it only applies to v6 and hybrid 2015 Camry's. I feel that this is also applicable to my vehicle VIN: 4t1bf1fk5fu084707. I feel Toyota is refusing to acknowledge this critical safety issue affecting more 2015 Toyota Camry vehicles. I've never had an issue like this with 5 other previously owned vehicles. When asked if I could pay for the fix myself they informed me that it is not possible without a recall! my Toyota dealer is refusing to fix the issue and Toyota customer service hasn't responded in over 3 weeks to my inquiry.

While driving on interstate headlights would automatically cut off , fuses keep blowing, gear shift locks up, and steering wheel locks up while driving.

In 2015, the Toyota Camry se suddenly did not start, so I thought it was a battery problem and changed it, but the same problem occurred and it was sent to the repair shop for inspection and the starting fuse disappeared. Then, before the problem occurred, the right door glass open sweetie did not work among the switches on the driver side.

Was driving and slowing down for a light and could feel that car was losing control and breaks did not seem to work properly, then the care stalled and stopped, so turned car off and turned back on again and started. Same thing happened about 10 times and when I finally went back home because I was afraid to go further, I could smell gas when I exited my vehicle. Each time it stalled, I had to restart in order to go again, very scarry and everyone beeping at me doesnt help.

Car caught fire in driveway. Causing massive damage in the trunk where battery and hybrid system is all the way up to the full engine compartment. 2am. . . Spontaneous massive electrical fire. Car had been parked for 7 hours. Not hot. In driveway. Not confined in any way.

I was driving my vehicle and suddenly I completely loss power steering control. I nearly crashed! my steering became very difficult to manage while it made an awful "grinding" noise when I attempted to steer the vehicle. I was driving on los angeles avenue (118 hwy) in moorpark, CA. I do not recall if I was turning; but I recall I was at a stop light, then took off and suddenly loss power steering. I googled this issue and noticed that there was a recall for my exact problem and make/model/year of my car (2015 Toyota Camry se 2. 5l at). I called the dealership and they are claiming there is no recall and won't honor my information. The exact recall # = 15v144000. Bought with 22k miles about 1 1/2 years ago. The cruise control speed and the speedometer issues have always been present. When using cruise control (under 45 suburban and urban streets) the car sometimes cannot regulate on slight inclines and speeds up by up to 5 mph over setting and doesn't decelerate. Several times it's done it on flat roads. It's never done this on the freeway even coming up slopes. It's rare that my digital speed reading is the same as my set cruise control speed. My digital speed reading also usually differs from my speedometer by about 2-4 mph also, sometime last summer an issue with my brakes has been occurring and is becoming more frequent. When first starting my car (I notice it on damp or dewy mornings) I can hear my brakes as I'm backing down my slightly sloped, cement driveway. I put my car in reverse and barely tap the gas because I go very slowly because we have a short driveway (35-40ft total) and a little lip at the entrance where the driveway meets our culdesac. It's not every morning and I've never noticed it any other times. Sounds like when brake pads are wearing down and feels almost spongy when pressing brake pedal. No squealing or chirping. Ive had my brakes checked twice and they're in good shape. *current mileage is approx 42k.

Loss of electrical power steering automatic cruise control affected- not working. Does not maintain speed when using drcc. Mechanic states there is a problem with ecu response. Loud revving sound heard after repeated attempts to use drcc my other 2015 Toyota Camry base was affected and approved for repair still awaiting recall for this 2015 Toyota Camry xle.

Touch screen radio burned as soonest I turned on the car, a lot of smoke came out from the radio and heavy burn cable smell.

My electronic control unit went out in three years . . . Not able to program anything or listen to radio. I understand that Toyota had a manufacture problem with models from 2014 and 2015. . . . Which my car falls in there. They are not acknowledging this problem and said they dont have a recall. However Toyota did send out notification to mechanics telling them there was issues with these ecus . Stanionary.

Whole electrical board went out. This is a known issue with these cars and Toyota refuses to help fix it.

The vehicle was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 15v144000 (steering). The manufacturer was contacted. The approximate failure mileage was 66,048.

The "Smart key" ignition system sometimes fails to work, at irregular intervals. Dealer service people say the way to correct the failure is to open and close the driver's door. The system then reboots and usually works ok thereafter -- usually. Today the car was parked, she entered, and the key fob failed to work. She had to open and close the driver's door 4 times before it did work. This is a safety problem when she is frequently the last person out of the lot at work, and she must open and close her door before the car will start and the phone blue-tooth will work. The dealer pleads ignorance even though his service people are familiar with this. Car is parked in modern garage or outdoors.

I purchased this car in 2017, after about 6 months or more I noticed a knocking noise when I turned into my driveway or made a right turn. I took it to vandergriff Toyota and after taking it back a few times, one of the technician heard the knocking sound and said it was the sunroof, I hadn't opened the sunroof since the guy at vandergriff Honda sold me the car. I called the Toyota customer service number, informed the young man I had googled sunroof recall and saw that it included 2014 and some 2015 Toyota Camry's, I gave him my VIN number and he said this particular car VIN number was not listed and there was nothing they could do for me. I asked to speake to his supervisor, he put me on hold, came back and stated again there nothing Toyota can do. I don't have $2500 dollars or more to fix a factory defect and would think Toyota would step up and do the right thing. I bought the car in January 2017, and the problem began around June 2017. I hope you can find that recall and fix my car.

Rodent ate my wire harness. Heard they were soy based wires. Cost 1729. 36 dollars to fix. Car was in driveway in florida and engine light came on when I started it. They told me at miracle Toyota in haines city florida that something ate my wires.

When accelerating from a complete stop or when slowing down to make a left turn, it hesitates as if the car has stalled when stepping on the gas pedal to go. It will go about 5 -10 feet just enough to get you out there into traffic and then nose dives because it loses all forward power, steady pressure on gas pedal and milking gas pedal does not make it resume any faster. So far it has lasted 30 to 45 seconds and then resumes. The rpms stay at about 1 (idle) and the eco light flashes randomly but car does not stall so far just loses forward motion and wont accelerate out of the way of traffic oncoming and behind you. This has happened 9-10 time oct 2016-Dec 2016.

Collision avoidance system has failed on two occasions, may 10 (17419 miles) and June 21, 2016 (19185 miles). In both instances it was while being driven on 2-lane highways at highway speeds. Both times it was taken to my dealer where the repair was to simply recalibrate the system.

At 10 a. M. On a bright sunny morning, my wife and grown daughter got into my car to go to breakfast, I turned the key to start the car, and turned on the air conditioner. The air was hot, not cool, I looked through the steering wheel to the dash and there was a yellow warning lite that read "check charging system " . I put the gear lever into "d" and the car did not move but the engine reved up, I then put it into "r" and the same thing occurred, the car engine reved up but would not move. I then turned the engine off, then started it up again and this time it started normally with a/c putting out cold air and the auto moving when transmission was in gear. I took it to the dealer and they performed a quality inspection and could not find the problem. They ask me to report back to them should it happen again, with the time, temperature, rain or cloudy day , ect. . It has been about 6 days and so far it has not happened again.

The vehicle was towed to the dealer, but was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure recurred multiple times. The approximate failure mileage was 550.

Fuel gauge read empty upon startup after 36 hours engine off. Actual fuel level 3/4 full. Gauge read accurately after 4 mile drive and restart.

Speedometer disagrees with digital speed readout in driver information center. Speedometer reads approximately 2 mph higher than digital speedometer in driver information center.
